Thank you for creating Order of Man. I always get something when I am here. I do not always agree with everything, but that is actually the main reason I come back. Your podcast challenges me to think differently, to understand someone else's way and to grow with the knowledge of others. I learn the most when I disagree with you, but also have great appreciation for the parts of our paths where we align, which is more often than not.
I admire what you have built here, and look forward to the future agreements and disagreements that you will bring to a brother striving for a growth mindset.

I came across a podcast on iTunes recently called Order of Man: Protect | Provide | Preside. It popped up as a related recommendation while I was browsing the Health and Fitness category. The show’s description intrigued me. “If you’re ready to level up your life as a man, this is the show for you,” it said.
Scrolling through nearly 500 episodes, I learned the first show aired on March 24, 2015 and it has been hosted by Ryan Michler since the beginning. Michler served in the Utah National Guard and he is an Iraq War Veteran. He is an entrepreneur and runs a website also named Order of Man. The date of his first blog suggests he started the website a few weeks before his first podcast. Michler claims growing up without a permanent father figure left him to learn how to be a man on his own, and with the help of a few strong men in his life.
He posts three podcasts per week. The Tuesday and Wednesday shows are approximately one hour in length and most of them are interviews with guests. The Friday show is around 30 minutes and this he does solo. I listened to both a long and short podcast.
The long podcast was an interview posted August 27, 2019 called “Pat McNamara | Make Yourself a Sentinel.” Michler produced the podcast while attending a Jiu Jitsu seminar. He recorded the introduction, advertising and ending and then spliced in a pre-recorded interview with McNamara. The interview sound quality was slightly poor. Michler’s voice track was good but it was evident McNamara was using the internet to communicate, possibly with FaceTime or Skype. Michler conducted a solid interview as McNamara spoke about maintaining situational awareness every day and how he teaches this to his children. They kept the discussion light and it moved swiftly. I stayed interested throughout the episode not only because I respect Pat McNamara, but because Michler’s interview technique was on point.
The short podcast was published September 6, 2019. The Friday podcasts are often labeled as “field notes.” Here Michler breaks down a list of tips to help you on the road to being a man. This episode was topical in nature. Referring to the damage and supply shortages left by Hurricane Dorian, Michler provided ten points related to emergency preparedness. Recorded in his usual studio, the background music and vocal track had great quality. Michler is easy to listen to. He is articulate and rarely uses fillers.
Advertising occurred right after the intro for both the long and short podcasts. Michler thanked his sponsor Origin Maine and spoke personally about their products. He then referred his listeners to the sponsor’s website and provided a promo code. Origin Maine promotes living a healthy lifestyle with nutritional supplements, martial arts and rugged outdoor clothing. The advertising feels like it belongs in the podcast. Michler also has a store on his own website and he invited listeners to pick up some merchandise. Halfway through the long podcast Michler interjected with an ad for one of his upcoming live events. In my opinion, the best advertising was at the end of each podcast. He wrapped up the show with inviting listeners to take learning and community to the next level by going to his website and signing up for the Iron Council. This is a $67.00 USD monthly membership program with exclusive content created by Michler.
I rate this podcast five stars out of five. I was initially concerned that Order of Man | Protect | Provide | Preside would be about questioning the rise of feminism or some far-right ideology but this is far from the truth. Michler is pushing his listeners to be better men, and by this he means a better husband, father and leader. He believes that strength and resilience are paramount. Michler does not propose to be an expert in his field of study and this what keeps the podcast fresh. He is constantly arranging interviews so that he and his audience can continue to learn. Michler was prepared for his podcasts and he provided great value for my time.

Ryan and his podcast was there for me when I needed him. In one of the valleys of my life I reached out to him and he got back to me with a letter of encouragement and support. Ryan has become my daily go-to podcaster to accompany me on my runs, while doing household chores or just driving. I'm now going through older conversations and always find something interesting. The content is always useful and the guests are often inspiring and i've found lots of other men who have the same concerns and interests. It's nice to find that when most media seems to be very anti-male these days. Highly recommended.

Ryan (and occasionally Kip when he is on) do an absolutely killer job of discussing the issues that most men need to hear, if not for the first time then as a reminder. Men have lost their way and the very idea of being a masculine man is being attacked, and Ryan very passionately is working to help us understand not only why we should do this work, but why we absolutely MUST!
Love all the work you do - Don't slow down!!

I tapped into this Podcast around January 2017. I began to listen to it. At that time, my marriage was falling apart. I was fat, overweight, lazy and had nothing going for me outsdie of my job. I was selling myself short.
Fast forward to November 2017 - I had continued to listen and started to make some nessisary changes in my life, but it wasn't enough because my marriage ended. She left. I was crushed. Devistated.
I went to the men in the Order of Men Facebook page and they have connected me, checked in with me and have helped me get through life. As men. As leaders. As true life long friends.
But through all of this, through this suffering that I have gone through, and continue to go through, I tap into this Podcast on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays every single week, without fail.
If I did not stumble across this Podcast when I did, if I didn't learn what I learned and actually applied it to my life, I can tell you with confidence that I wouldn't be here today. This Podcast has changed me. Its exposed me to some incredible information that I wouldn't have otherwise discovered.
This Podcast has changed my life completely. But it was me who has to step up and be a man. It was me who had to take what Ryan is teaching and apply it to my life. It was me who had to demonstrate extreme ownership and the brutal truth to change my life. Nobody was going to do it for me. It didn't mean that my wife came running back into my arms. No! I did it for myself. I did it to impact the other men around me and link arms and go through life together. Through the hard times. Through the suffering. Through that darkness. We have established a band of brothers that is unbreakable now. When I am down, I rely on them. When they are down, they can rely on me. Together as men, we rise up and reclaim masculinity and what it means to be a man.
So subscribe. Start to listen. Feel it change you. Feel it pull at your inner being Transform yourself into the man I know you can be.

A good counter to the other bull in the world about men.

I have been listening to the order of man for a few months now. And it is one of my favourite podcasts now.
It feels like society is determined to neuter the male gender all because there are men in the world that are behaving very badly in their “manhood”. The order of man podcast, hosted by Ryan and Kipp, gives good counter arguments to a lot of the noise being said about men and what they really are. But more than that, they give a simple and concise definition of what a man really should be. It is unfortunate that alot of people in my generation hasn’t had good role models for being a man. Often, boys grow up in divided, or broken homes. So there is conditioning that needs to be overcome. I believe that the Order of Man podcast can help men gain new perspectives and grow into more of who they really can be in life. The podcast has certainly helped me to find new ways of thinking about issues that I have been stuck on. It is also good for me to know that there are lots of men in the world who are facing the same challenges that I am. And that the Order of Man podcast and included services can be a helpful resource of information for me, now and the continuing future.
Thank you, Ryan and Kipp, and all your guests for doing the work that you do! I look forward to hearing what else is in store.
