Katy Bowman’s ‘Katy Says’ podcast is crucial listening for anyone concerned with health and wellbeing. Bowman’s philosophy on movement is simple yet powerful (not only in the biomechanical science it is derived from, but in the benefits you’ll experience when you implement her suggested ‘movements’ into your life). The podcast has a fun, casual and conversational tone which makes it accessible to people of all ages and abilities; something I really appreciate since I’ve historically had a pretty shallow knowledge of science, physiology and anatomy. In addition, Bowman has an incredible talent for making the complex both understandable and implementable, and it’s great stuff. Over the course of 2015, I’ve listened to every episode, and it has profoundly transformed my life; inspiring me to move more and lose close to 100lbs in doing so. This podcast has affected all facets of my life; it compelled me to integrate more movement into my office job and even stretch at my desk, it compelled me to hang out on the floor at home and improve my hip health, it inspired me to change how I actually ‘look’ when I’m outside (focusing on things in the horizon), it inspired me to walk 5000km this year (and be present out in the world), etc. As a result, I’ve never been stronger, happier or fitter and have achieved this courtesy of the learnings woven into ‘Katy Says’ episodes. I’ve never written an iTunes review before, but I had to write one for this podcast because it truly changed my life!
