I have been studying formal Japanese for years and this podcast has taken my ability to connect with native speakers to the next level. Plus, I used the Osaka random phrase of the week with a guy from Osaka and he thought it was super funny!

Alex-sensei and Ami-sensei never disappoint with each new release. I listen to this whether I’m on my way to school, going on a run, cooking, etc. Both hosts are very fun and always provide good learning material for casual Japanese conversation!

This is a great podcast to learn casual Japanese, and learn the context that informs the language and other cultural notes!

My boyfriend is Japanese, and when I communicate with him, I want to use informal Japanese - I’ve had difficulty finding resources to learn this prior. The dialogue you provide is also super useful because 1) my listening skills are pretty lacking, and 2) the language apps I currently use don’t always have proper intonation!

Thanks to you guys, my boyfriend has noticed quite an improvement in my language skills, as he said he forgot I started learning only recently!!

I started learning Japanese last year and as I was very busy (college+part time job) I only had time during my commutes and late in the evening to study. When I found this podcast my Japanese learning endeavour was taken to the next level! Learning both the casual and formal ways of speaking is a really good asset to have! Alex and his co-hosts always come up with funny dialogues to help the phrases and words stick in your memory! I highly recommend for all Japanese learners! (I also just joined their discord forum and it is a wonderful place to ask questions and practice with the Learn Japanese Pod community!

I listen to the dialogues over and over on my walk home from work. I had to drive to Vancouver from Kelowna and found this pos cast very easy to listen to, laugh with and engaging. As someone with very basic knowledge of Japanese I found I learned many new sentences and could use the knowledge I already had. Thanks Alex and Ami!!

Excellent scripts. Interesting personalities. Professional-level voice acting. Audio production is top quality. Podcast is well supported with notes and other resources.

After living in Tokyo for 5 years, and having studied at a juku style Japanese language cram school, I felt rather hopeless. This podcast brings the fun back to learning. It’s not monotonous memorisation with no explanation, reasoning or logic explaining then whats and the whys. I’ve given up on giving up. I look forward to episodes knowing my motivation to continue studying on my own is about to get a kickstart.

Top notch. Highly recommended, and all t all shade, I’m pretty judgemental.

This is a very well structured and organized podcast for learning natural, casual Japanese. It gives you not only vocab and sentences to work with but also insight into the culture and history behind the language. Another great feature is the complete word by word translations on their website. 5 stars!

I love this podcast. I'm learning so much from Alex and the team. What I like most is that the lessons are FUN, unlike most academic courses that can get pretty dry and boring. A must try for all Japanese enthusiasts!

Wish I could start with ep #1 ... but sadly it starts at #5 on itune :( and i feel like I didnt get the basics..
