I have been listening to This American Life fairly religiously for the last few years, and it truly never disappoints. I love the interesting themes, and how they weave the stories together. Most importantly though, Ira Glass and all the other hosts, are so easy to listen to.

Love this show, and it seems like we had a few weeks of reprieve from politically laced topics, but alas, it’s back. We are inundated with politics everywhere- please get back to random, quirky stories! Pleeeeease

Fantastic reporting but I’m getting burnt out by the constant political content. I miss the purely human interest stories. Please give us more of that.

What has happened to the show? The last three months of so-called highlights with summer repeats has been appalling. The episodes are either just plain boring or outright annoying! I do hope that the regular season gets back to normal because I used to really enjoy the show.

this show tells some really really amazing stories. With so many episodes, your bound to get a stinker every now and then but over all the episodes are absolutely stellar!!

This has broken my heart and made me so very angry …. A bunch of rich white men and women deciding this insanity. Are they going to pay for every single girl or woman throughout their entire pregnancy and delivery? What about all the women who will die because of this, either through suicide or unsafe abortion. What about all the babies who will be killed or suffer child abuse or neglect? I cannot believe the mess is this world. Unless you have been in a situation where you required an abortion for many many different reasons you should have ZERO say. I’m sickened by this.

I’m confused about something that was said in the latest episode. The fact that the rate of reporting sexual assault to police has not changed: why is the conclusion that women have not changed in their beliefs about rape? Maybe more women do believe that they were raped but they still don’t want to go to the police, for good reason. That seemed like a strange leap in the otherwise great story.

This is one of my favorite podcasts. Although I feel like it’s become more and more political over time. Maybe some more upbeat and comedic episodes? Overall it’s very good. Keep up the good work. :D

I started listening to This American Life before podcasts offered the ability to enjoy any show at leisure. While driving the kids to and from Sunday sports games we would often find ourselves sitting in the car on the driveway listening to the end of a show. Occasionally I would just go for a drive on a Sunday when the new show was scheduled to enjoy the program in peace. Over the years I have laughed, cried, been in awe, and brilliantly entertained by this wonderful production. Even with all the fantastic podcast choices out there this is still top of my feed and the first thing I turn on for my Sunday drive.

It’s so great that vocal qualities and abilities don’t matter for this podcast. Some podcasts give vocal and reading training but for This American Life, the presentation and how it sounds is not at all important, it is only content that is of concern.

How do I access past episodes from past years?

The archives are made for this stuff the world isn’t a good place right now lay off please your being harsh i dont want this to change its perfect so please lay off

TAL has a leg up on all other podcasts.

Years before everyone was making podcasts, Ira Glass and staff created a show style that was perfect for that future medium. And now, everyone tries to copy it. Some do a pretty good job of it. But this is the original.

Shows are too political. I get enough of that everywhere else. No thanks.

I’ve always liked this podcast but it’s become less and less entertaining and more and more preachy and serious. Variety used to be the spice of This American Life - where did your imaginations go?

I love this podcast, but I cannot stand the guest host of this episode! She has a speaking style that just irritates.

My Sunday is not complete if I miss this show.

Why not move away from the agitation or give the dog to someone in the country. you decide to kill a living creature that was a fine creature before all the delivery and you don’t think to remove that variable?

TAL is as good as audio storytelling and journalism gets. The recent ep. “729: Making The Cut” was a gem.

I’ve been a fan of TAL for years, but never have I been as inspired and yes, delighted by an episode as “The Show of Delights”. Truly a masterpiece of podcasting. I think it may have changed my life forever. Thank you!

So many topics, never gets boring!

I am a black parent and this podcast is causing me to reflect on my own lack of empathy when I interact with others who are different than me. Help me not to do this!!

I used to love this show. But now the show and NPR in general is far too liberal. I’m not a righty; I just want to know both sides of the story.

This will disappoint your Monday mornings if you like new content. Only about once a month there’s a new episode, everything else is re-runs. They should probably change it to a monthly podcast.

I love how the stories are told in this podcast, and I like that there are breaks or sections within a story, or alternatively, multiple stories about the same subject in each podcast episode. It makes the entire podcast easier to listen to I think.

This podcast is an example of doing something with PASSION and with EXCELLENCE. It is thought provoking, full of variety, and informative.

This podcast has left me speechless we have been bamboozled, hoodwinked, run amok and quite literally been led astray!

Starting about a year ago, I can no longer listen to episodes from the archives without it constantly cutting out. I restart it and then it cuts out again. I have emailed TAL for advice numerous times and received no response. Anyone else have this issue?

I love TAL, but agree with a previous reviewer. Soooo many are repeats. I must have heard the one where they talk to the dead relatives on the phone 10 times. It’s so disappointing to get excited for a new episode and then play it to discover it’s all reruns. This happens waay more with this podcast than any other I listen to.

Thanks for this one in particular. Although a rerun it included my two favourite episodes of all time (including JG Heavyweight which I love).
