I've been a mother for a little over 18 years now, and although I wouldn't trade those years for anything, there's no question that raising kids has been a challenge. In fact, in those 18 years, I've never spoken to a single mother who hasn't felt completely overwhelmed at one point or another.
My guest today has a unique perspective on chronic overwhelm. She was already raising three boys when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Her story is a real inspiration and her message is one that all mothers can benefit from in this time of near-constant uncertainty.
She also has an amazing podcast, called Mom is In Control, "about pursuing the life you crave without sacrificing the parent you want to be." Check it out once you've finished this one!

Dana has so much common sense it's not even funny. I don't think she's ever said anything that hasn't made complete sense. I bought her sleep sense program two years ago for my first and it solved our sleep issues in one day. Love hearing her practical advice on all these parenting topics through her podcast.

Great advice in this podcast. I'm pregnant with my first and was looking for some reassurance and guidance on babies and sleep. 3 stars because I find it a bit repetitive from episode to episode. I don't really feel the need to keep listening and see this as more of a (very good and enjoyable) ad for the sleep sense program. Worth a listen!!!

First time mom here and struggling with a baby who would take 50 minutes of rocking to get to sleep and once he touched the mattress would scream and then it would take more rocking or nursing to get any shut eye, and then he would only stay asleep for 45 mins. Naps were a nightmare and almost non existent. I am suffering from ppd and the lack of sleep only makes it worse. As of now I am 8 days into the program and my son goes down at night with no protest and goes for naps with little or no protest. He sleeps through the night with no feeds. We are only 8 days in so he sometimes wakes maybe once but we stick with the program and he puts himself back to sleep. The difference in 8 days is just insane. So grateful for the program I know it's only going to get better and thankful there is now even more support with the podcasts. Thanks Dana.

SleepSense success!

Dana is really great at communicating sleeping tips clearly and effectively. You can tell she is really passionate without sounding preachy. Throughout each episode she offers so good advice not just for babies but for parent's sleep too. I will be definitely be listening to future episodes.
She has really gentle voice which is lovely so it is fairly jarring when the ads come up at a louder volume and it makes them seem aggressive even though they are not really it is just in contrast to her talking. One other note is the announcer calls it "The Dana Show" but the podcast title "The Sleep Sense Show" which is a bit confusing.

Luv it

Dana provides a simple, yet effective, approach to equipping children to go to sleep, parents to have the tools to succeed, and an encouraging and transparent support system. The Sleep Sense program literally brought me from the depths of frustration, discouragement, and depression to a place of confidence, hope, and healthy relationships again. Thank you, Dana! I have highly recommended you and your program to other parents, and you have turned their lives around too!

I am a big fan of the sleep sense program. I was skeptical at first but after lots of independent reading I came upon this program. It has worked very well for both my children. I have a 3 month old who is sleeping 10-12 hours a night consistently and this was with no fuss! As well, I have a 2 year old who has been sleeping through the night consistently since I started the program when he was 5 months old. It is a life saver to both one's sanity and marriage. Dana is also very practical and realistic about the challenges you are likely to encounter. And now there is another very credible study supporting this type of sleep training.

Great tips but a bit lengthy

Dana has provided some great tips for parents to help their babies sleep better. Although I have heard those tips from different people for many times, it is always good to be reminded once in a while .The only reason I didn't give it a 5 stars is that the content is a bit lengthy. I listen to podcasts normally while working or doing something else, so a shorter one (perhaps around 10 minutes) would probably get my attention better.

The best program out there

I am delighted that there are now podcasts from Dana. Dana helped me get my daugher to sleep without feeling like I was abandoning her. Now I am a new woman. I wish I had found this program with my son. The podcast is awesome and I will recommend it to everyone!

Dana explains sleep and provides information in a way that makes it easy to implement changes for the better. Is encouraging for parents to make changes instead of focusing on the problems and bad habits.
The mini commercials every 7 minutes is less appealing. But at least parents will know clearly where to find more information to get the help they need.
