Somehow Darren’s voice is both captivating and relaxing. Makes it perfect to pay full attention to, have on as background noise, or fall asleep to — especially since there are so many episodes!
Love what you’re doing, Darren! Keep on keepin' on!

Can’t say as I can find anything at all that I don’t like a loot this PodCast and as a none believer but a reader I’ll say this.
I’ve read the books ( books of religions ) but I’ve never had reason to dig em till recent events in my life and a few passages you’ve read have help me to ask the right questions in my life and to reach out to the proper people to ask for the help that I needed so thank you for that.

Are you a child of the eighties? Remember “In Search Of”?
This is like an audio version of that show.
The mix of fictional stories and true tales is amazing. Excellent podcast.
Update!!!! I have been listening to Weird Darkness for quite a while now. I have become an official weirdo and never miss an episode. I have listened everyday since this review without exception.
Brilliant and it has only improved over time, Darren has an excellent voice for this, he works hard and is a giving human being. Be creeped out and feel good about it.
Darren is a mental health awareness advocate and is a hero.
Thank you Darren.

I am addicted to podcasts. Mainly true crime, and scary ones. There are only two podcasts, this being one of them, that make me run to my car after closing my gate, jump in, and lock my doors before I drive down our long, dark driveway. Sometimes after listening I’m afraid to even get out and open the gate. Love it!! Finally found someone that spooks me. Keep it up.

Darren is amazing. He produces such great content and so much that I regularly get to binge this episode while waiting for my weekly podcasts. The stories are interesting and well told yet concise. It’s refreshing to have someone get down to it without too much exposition.

I have been listening to this Podcast for over a year. And it has completely replaced "Coast to Coast" in our household. Darren Marlar is a great Narrator and Podcast Host. Most stories being short enough to not interrupt what your doing and a little of something for everyone.
If you love the Paranormal or old Radio shows like "The Twilight Zone". Then the stories in this Podcast are for you!
Darren is a huge supporter of those going through psychological trauma and depression. And openly said he wants to keep his Podcast free as long as he can (hence the commercials)
If any of the negative reviews bother you...
The Bible quotes at the end of his show are always applicable and inspirational. (I should add I'm personally Pagan and not Christian myself) and often includes similar quotes from other sources.
For one week only Darren stopped advertising for his own patreon and sponsors to focus on a not for profit organization that helps feed 3rd world families. It was only one week long and a selfless act encouraging others to donate.
There was only 2 adverts during 1 show regarding what people have called Pro-Life. Which if you paid attention was to support a hotline that people who wanted to find help finding Pro-Life options. (I'm Pro-Choice btw) it seems to me if the person has made the choice already and then looks for more options from there. To advertise a hotline that is available to help support the Choice she's already made is neither a pro-life nor pro-choice add.
In response to his Listeners Darren apologized removed the adds from anywhere he could and calmly responded to the negative comments.
If you want to listen to a Host who stands by his principles and listens to his fans. This Podcast is for you!
If however your ears ring because you hear a bible quote. You are against feeding the less fortunate for the cost of a coffee every month. And you can't fathom that a woman might actually choose life without being manipulated into it.
Then the stories in this Podcast are NOT for you...... they are likely "about" you.
Give it a listen and make your own choice. If you really love this Podcast I highly recommend his Patreon.

Good morning Darren,
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate this podcast. I'm a subscriber to many mystery and paranormal podcasts, but I find myself constantly coming back to Weird Darkness. The daily posts are incredible, and I applaude you for your efforts and work composing such great material in such a timely fashion (the archive episodes included).
I struggle with depression every day as well, and have primarily kept this to myself. My wife has dealth with depression for years, and is much more worse off than I, so I tend to keep these issues away from her so as to not insight any sort of episode on her behalf. You podcast provides an excellent escape and I truly appreciate what you do.
Thanks a billion for being such a professional and having fun with what you do.
Yours in Weirdness,
Dr. Gregory

Great job Darren!

Thanks for producing so much great content! I always wonder if that is your wife voicing the warning at the start of the podcast? Also I know you got a lot of flack for your pro-life ad... while I side with pro-choice, I would defend YOUR right to advertise YOUR views on YOUR podcast to the end! So tired of this outrage culture that has he gall to berate you for this while consuming the FREE content you provide! Looking forward to you Halloween YouTube vid.

The podcast itself is ok. Your sponsors not so much. It’s actually incredibly upsetting that you have some pro-life commercials. Which is government wanting license over a woman’s bodily autonomy despite her desires. It also pushes a religious agenda in a big way. Since 90% of those in favour of pro-life are either men or of a specific religious background. Which is horrible. Not the religious part - but that also bothers me. I think your religion is like your penis. You don’t show it off to strangers in public and you don’t shove it down the throats of children. I feel as though that’s what happens with this podcast at times. More so lately. Less feel-good and more preachy. I’m not about that. I’m afraid I will be unsubscribing because I don’t want to support any of these ideas or behaviours.

This is the show!

Found this show about a month or so ago, can’t stop listening. Can’t listen to any other creepy podcasts as I’ve gotten so used to his voice and the way he tells the story. Thanks for the entertainment and I always look forward to new content, at first I wasn’t a fan of the creepy pastas and only liked the real stories, but they’ve grown on me now as well. Thanks again Darren

Interesting content. Darren is very talented. The background music and sound effects are tasteful and add to the atmosphere rather than being obnoxious.
On a more personal note as someone who became pregnant after being taken advantage of and violated I wanted to thank you for your courage in promoting anything pro life. I had booked an abortion and changed my mind last minute. I know women who live with the pain of past abortions and I feel like I was spared from a whole different kind of pain. I gave my son up for adoption and he’s happy and healthy.
Sometimes doing the right thing is tough and as for all the dissenting voices- the truth will set you free but first it will piss you off. Keep boldly sharing the truth and glorifying God with your gifts. It’s powerful and obviously helps and encourages lots of people. Thanks for providing great free content 😊

The show is good but recently they started promoting pro life organisations. And not even in a clear way. The host was urging people to donate to an organisation that helps women with what I first assumed to be medical complications but it is actually a pro life organisation. If the creators stand for that why keep their request for donation so vague ? I’m super disappointed and can’t keep listening anymore knowing that my metrics would help this show find more sponsors etc... remember its not pro life, its anti women.

This podcast is a staple in my house. I love the consistency of the episodes and the content is unbeatable. I could listen to Darren Marlar’s voice all day. The bible verses at the end make me a bit uncomfortable, but I mean to each their own. My only suggestion would be if you want to end on a positive note, mix it up a bit, Mark Twain... Dalai Lama... the list is endless. All in all, love the show and totally recommend it.

I’ve been listening to Weird Darkness for a few months now, the episode on Madame Lalaurie prompted the urge to review. I LOVE this podcast!!!
The bible verse at the end is mildly annoying, but noticing the ‘additional thought’ after that balances it out - thank you for that more inclusive pull out of the darkness. It’s incredibly refreshing and uplifting.
Still waiting on an episode covering The Devil’s Backbone in Texas. Beyond that, keep up the delightful dark weirdness, and thank you for the attention to the real darkness that affects so many.

I love this podcast! I have been looking for a horror fiction podcast to binge on, and until now I had yet to find one that kept my interest past a couple episodes. This one is absolutely great! The stories are usually new to me and always intriguing. Darren’s voice is so enjoyable to listen to, and the background music is great and never distracting from the story. From a discerning horror lover, WELL DONE and keep up the fantastic work!!

I love the ghost stories and the unsolved mysteries. Not a fan of the murder/true crime episodes. I would rather it just be all paranormal but that's just my personal preference. I appreciate that Darren doesn't polarize his audience and doesn't throw in political correctness any chance he gets. Most podcasts can learn from this.

I just started listening a few days ago & I’m beyond hooked. I finished the Gloomy Sunday episode & it was extremely intriguing. I’m a fan of Billie Holliday, I find her voice to be so inspiring. But I had been completely unaware of the songs background. That song is one of my favourites. I have listened to it, or rather sang along for many years & the feelings that come with it our power, comfort & strength. So I’m very interested in this story and want to know more. On another note, Thank you thank you, I have always wanted to listen to war of the worlds. Keep up the incredible work I’m really enjoying this podcast. In closing, I very much so hope that I may have the opportunity one day to interview you and fellow podcasters of the same genre’s for writing purposes & to gain your knowledge first hand.
