The work in this highly-detailed dictionary began in the 1950s in Aivilik when Alex Spalding and Thomas Kusugaq began working on wordlists of the local dialect.

This dictionary includes the prominent features of the phonology of Aivilingmiutaq (WCHB) speech, the dialect of the Naujaat (Repulse Bay) Region, and technical notes on orthography provided by renowned linguist Louis Jacques-Dorais.
