A Poor Offering

A bit surprised at the overall possitive reviews of this book. I read it when it first came out and from the Malcom character being alive to the feel of the writing and plot arc I got a strong impression that this book was ghost written.
Malcom was killed off in the Jurassic Park book. I was able to flip to the chapter when I started this one to confirm that he was left wounded in a bathroom when three Raptors started chasing our hero from just outside the hallway, two followed and one stayed behind and caught up later. Then when being extracted by helicoptor we have the confirmed he died. -Handwaved away in this book as a misunderstanding.
The writing style and plot arc didn't have Crichton's normal flow to it. The second movie was basically all the good scenes from the first book that didn't get into the first movie (Plus some nonsense with the dinosaur in a city that felt out of place). This book has nothing to add to the series or overall story.
