We have:
1. Missed supplying groceries for our 82 yr old parent who lives far away;
2. LOST MONEY BECAUSE OF not 1 but TWO MISSED DELIVERIES!!!!
Order 1: we used a “free” box. She didn’t know how to use the App (she thought she understood and wanted to choose her own items). She called and the customer service rep helped her choose the items and THEY NEVER ARRIVED!
When I found out, I called and they magically couldn’t find a record of her call. So, fine. We went through the process again, this time I connected my PayPal to her account and I did the ordering. We did it over the phone again only because the Hello Fresh customer service rep said he could take care of it and ASSURED US this would get taken care of.
Order 2: We ordered AND PAID for a box to send to my 82 yr old mum. As I said, I used my own PayPal account. The money came out of the account - FREE WAS NOT FREE!
She just told me the box NEVER ARRIVED. She assumed that HF didn’t take the money from us until it was delivered.
How do you do this to us and an 82 yr old woman. You’re nice on the phone, assure us that she’ll get it. She WENT WITHOUT HEALTHY FOOD! She ate soup and preserves that I’d left in her cupboard because I hadn’t arranged alternative groceries that week.
The person I spoke with on the phone when I ordered assured me that THIS TIME, it would be fine and they had NO idea what happened. Stop lying to us, refund our money back to our PayPal account and cancel our account.
Do NOT rely on this service for yourself or anyone else you care about.

Received the wrong food, they did not correct the problem.

I compared the price per meal on the app and the price per meal ordering online. It is significantly more expensive to use the app. I guess that’s how they pay for the app. Just order online.

The reason I’m leaving a 1 star review is because this company had multiple chances to get things right with my orders and failed to do so, and while the problems on their own weren’t enormous, there were so many problems with no recourse. Also, the food is simply not worth the price. You can purchase these ingredients for around half the price at a grocery store or even less, and you won’t have to deal with substituted or missing ingredients, or out of date vegetables. With an app name with the word “Fresh” in it you would expect the freshest ingredients always and a sincere explanation as to the absence of fresh ingredients if it did occur however that’s not what I got, and, with the inflated cost of food I believe my rating of 1 star just. I didn’t list every problem I had in this review. P.S. Some of the recipes tasted really good, but I honestly think this company should just sell cookbooks or something because they can’t get the fresh food delivery thing right.

Disclaimer, have only ordered from Hellofresh and Goodfood; comments below are made in comparison.
Quality of goods: Quality of groceries and spices not as great as Goodfood.
- Packaged meat is hard to say but vegetables are in visibly worse states upon arrival
- spice packs are relatively simple compared to a greater variety from Goodfood.
Presentation
- they use frozen water bags to keep groceries cool but the bags leak and when I opened the box:
—— everything was soaked and the recipes were hard to read
—— ice is typically almost entirely melted, so the quality of meats was a little concerning
Service
- when contacting customer service, I was hung up on.
—— web app is buggy and sometimes the chat window option doesn’t even appear.
—— the agent hung up 5s after asking if that would be all; I had been typing another question.
—— web app was frustrating to use, and I work in the software industry
—— at first I was frustrated that Goodfood didn’t have an iOS app, their web service was more than satisfactory. I reached out to their customer service as well for cancelation (personal reasons unrelated to satisfaction) and they were incredibly warm and helpful.

We were told to refrigerate our tomatoes (you should already know you don’t refrigerate tomatoes) they were green with green juice spilling out of them. Our ingredients were going bad 2 days before the best before date. They also denied that we ordered garlic bread which was clearly being shown through our app. The support app was glitching on my IPad and deleted chat and it was a pain to understand that we ordered the garlic bread but never charged us or delivered it too us, they missed the order. Please do no buy

The meals take MUCH longer to prepare than the recipe indicates. Not appropriate busy families who want to get dinner on the table quickly. Tried to cancel twice and ended up having to call the company and deactivate my account to get them to stop sending me boxes. Impossible to delete account so credit card info stays on file. Do not recommend.

I was raised to buy in bulk and be economical so the idea of receiving food pre-measured at home with a recipe seemed rather a foreign concept. My son moved out a year ago and tried Hello Fresh and soon became a regular customer. He was learning how to cook eating healthy and having fun with it!
Cooking for a family of 4 for over 30 years and then having to cook for 2 meant that I always had too many leftovers . So I had to try Hello Fresh to see what portion size was and also for new cooking ideas.
I am totally loving the experience, the recipes and the fact that I don’t have a whole head of celery wilting in my fridge when all I needed was 2 stalks for my recipe! Hello Fresh gives you all the ingredients, measured for the recipe and that is peace of mind as there is no waste!
You gotta try it!

Good luck contacting them. Even if you've never tried it they’ll force you to pay full price: I spent over 2 hours trying to give them my business (solve an address problem) by phone, Facebook and then app chat, and after resolving it they say my discount code can’t be used now. I’ll take my business elsewhere where they honour their introductory offers, because I’ve never tried this but they’re making it difficult to access.

I recently signed up with hello fresh because I got a promotion and wanted to avoid the grocery store. The first box came with some wilted vegetables but it wasn’t a big deal! I also got some freebies to send and when I sent one to my sister who has a child with a medical condition and is considered high risk during this covid situation, I paid for it to help her through this tough time as she cannot work. It was going to a DIFFERENT household and a DIFFERENT customer yet hello fresh canceled the order. Their customer service email reply was condescending and sarcastic. I am really disappointed with the service I received from this company.

I am very disappointed. I’ve referred 4 people, who all enjoyed the service, but received no credits. I’ve sent 3? Or so emails to the “contact” email and still nothing. Food is great but too expensive to get every week, you can skip a week but can’t pause your subscription and they make it almost impossible to cancel your subscription. I accidentally got a box this week even though I didn’t want it because I forgot the skip this week. It shows a way to unsubscribe on their web page but it didn’t work when I’ve tried.

I love your food. It’s fantastic.
This app, however, is the furthest thing from fantastic. It’s really, to be honest, really non-functional.
Every time I attempt to use the app, it’s always a “Oops something went wrong. Retry” and when you retry it’s the same thing.
Please fix these bugs. It’s annoying to have to go to the website instead of using the app meant to replace the visit to the website in the first place!
Again, great food, but not a great app until the bugs are fixed.

Definitely not fresh and sketchy cancellation policy
Got a week's delivery on recommendation from a friend.
3x meals arrived on Tuesday. They were +mediocre but at least very simple to make.
Called to cancel on the Friday and was told it's too late to cancel next week's delivery, and they couldn't possibly even delay because everything was already "ready to go". Out $80 now.
Not sure how "fresh" food that's ready to go 5 days in advance is.
Also not sure how I was expected to actually trial their dishes if they arrived Tue and Fri was already too late?

What a lousy design that you can’t cancel your service through the app, you have to login through their website (hopefully you remember the password) and that’s after spending 20 minutes in the app trying to find how to cancel. And it’s not easy to find the cost for the boxes either; very poor design. But I have a feeling those are intentionally designed that way.
