Can’t change meals

Restarted our subscription after not having it for a couple of years. Went to edit the meal we’d receive. True to add a meal and a notification popped up saying something like “remove a meal to add a meal” but there’s no place to remove a meal. Horrible UI.

Great app, however didn’t work out.

Loved the first week, after that though I found I didn’t have time to cook every day. Would love to come back if there was an option to cook one large meal to eat throughout the week. IF you do have time to cook everyday though this will work perfectly for you!

More produce

We loved everything with one exception…..not enough produce. The starch and meat portions are good….but the veggies are skimpy. You allow us to increase or change proteins, for extra charge….please allow the same for the veggies. Thank you so much🙏

Manipulation des choix

Le système change nos choix allègrement. On ne peut pas ce fier du tout à Hello Fresh de respecter les choix qu’on prépare à l’avance. Ils nous ajoute et retire des plats que nous avions choisi. Ça pourrait peut-être être qualifié de frauduleux. Même au service à la clientèle ils insinues que c’est nous qui avons fait les changements.
J’ajoute que les dates de péremption sont tellement exact que les légumes et les viandes deviennent impropre à la consommation tout de suite.

Customer service is not helpful when you need a refund

I love HelloFresh. I use it weekly. I depend on the groceries.
I had a meal box show up late on a Friday so they failed to deliver over the weekend ….Everything was rotten and they will not honour it.

An ADHD dream

I have ADHD and that means making decisions in the kitchen can be stressful. But this is great for 3 reasons
1: it comes to your door so you dont have to get overwhelmed shopping
2: everything is pre-portioned so no worries about that
3: the hello fresh team was mindful about picking recipies that don’t use too many dishes which is great for my brain too! I hate cooking but this makes it manageable. Plus i find the 2 servings means its enough for lunches the next day.
I think the ground pork recipies are not great and are better with ground beef personally, but otherwise theres something for everyone! Everyone at my work compliments my lunches

Good app / Missing Items Delivery

The app is easy to use. However, when I received my first delivery the main protein ingredient was missing from all of my meals: chicken, beef, ravioli, shrimp. At least I was given a full refund. I cancelled my subscription.

New meal selection layout = FAIL

The new meal selection layout is terrible. Pictures are too small, and meal title text gets cut off because of the lack of available room. Blows my mind that this gets through any sort of UX testing. Change for the sake of change? Huge fail.

Scammers

I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lawsuit against this app one day. There’s literally no option to cancel your plan within the app, you have to go to their website. They deliberately make it frustrating by only offering an option to skip, hoping you eventually forget to skip again and get charged. It feels completely intentional. I hope they get sued for this and I’ll gladly put my time and energy to join the lawsuit.

They advertised 27 free meals after payment there was no credit for free meal there was no mention of promotion. Their support is non responsive. Their entire online presence seems to be a scam of grabbing left over groceries shoving down into a bag sending it to locations while pretending it’s chief cooked meal with photo pictures. Shame on you!

This app enrolled me in a recurring subscription without consent.
I placed one test order and was charged $76.19 for a renewal I never approved.
I never created a password or completed an account — yet the auto-billing occurred anyway.
HelloFresh provides no functional Canadian support email, making it impossible to dispute charges directly.
The meals delivered did not match my dietary selections, and two remain untouched.
Customer service refused cancellation even though I called the same day the charge appeared.
This raises serious concerns under consumer protection and subscription transparency standards.
I have filed reports with CFIA, Ad Standards Canada, and will dispute the charge through my bank.
Use this app with extreme caution. Unauthorized billing is a documented issue.

Way too expensive

It’s a great price for the first box, but the second was 80$ for 3 meals, it’s not worth it for me, it’s cheaper for me to eat out every night. They also make it super difficult to cancel your plan too. Don’t get me wrong the food was delicious but if I get the ingredients myself and just use the recipe it’s a lot cheaper.

Expensive and difficult to cancel

Coupons are applied in such a way that is almost not comparable to what the coupon says.
It is expensive without a coupon, but you cannot cancel your subscription through the app. You need to log in through the website and speak to an agent. It is very annoying.

Scam of an app

I originally started up my account in May of 2023, I was unable to keep up with the prices, so I decided to cancel my subscription. Here we are more than two years later, I decided to start my account again to try it out because the prices had dropped, I’m a single mom on an ridiculously tight budget, eating healthy is crucial.
So I decide to reactivate my account, give it a go once again. I lived across the country in 2023, British Columbia to be exact. I currently live in Manitoba. I had to make an order & pay for an order before I was able to remove my previous address, I wasn’t able to update my current address, nor my phone number.
The order has been delivered, but I did not receive it, it got stolen because I just noticed my phone number from 2 years ago was on the account. A refund has been issued but this is simply unacceptable. You would think the option to update your account prior to a payment with be a standard.
The app is great for recipes, at least I’ll be able to use their recipes and just buy my own groceries.

Fraudulent tool

BEWARE

If you get gift cards for Hello Fresh, you need to call them in.
They then apply them as they see fit and not necessarily to one order.
So if you apply a $200 gift card? They might split it across 2 orders.
Also BEWARE! If you cancel an order etc, they will quietly dispose of that money.
They will NOT put it onto the next order - you will have to phone and chase them.
They will label it as a “discount” on your bill and you spend your time fighting to get it back.
Especially if you encounter agents that insist that they gave you this “discount” and it’s not your money to begin with.
So if you use gift cards, watch them like a hawk!

Update ruined app

The app updated itself last week and now it won’t open. Decent food, terrible app

I can’t believe I’m paying for this service. Some of the money I pay for the food (which is good not great) should go towards decent app UXD. Incorrect/inconsistent account information, a support portal that is difficult to locate (probably on purpose), a useless support chat bot, a mandatory form to fill out before chatting with a human, which apparently doesn’t even get sent to the human… on and on. I suspect that the company has had to choose between paying developers/ support team members (in other words, human workers) and profit. It’s very clear that profit has won, and the result is a service that I would recommend to not one person.

Très compliqué d’annuler l’abonnement

La navigation dans l’application ne facilite pas l’annulation de l’abonnement. Les commandes de semaine en semaine se renouvellent automatiquement. On peut annuler 6 semaines à l’avance, mais il faut penser à annuler les 6 semaines suivantes. Impossible d’enlever la carte de crédit du compte. Il faut passer par l’institution bancaire pour bloquer le compte. Je viens de recevoir une commande dont je ne voulais pas. J'ai laissé à de multiples reprises des notes à mon compte comme quoi je ne voulais pas poursuivre l’abonnement et je n’ai jamais eu de retour de la compagnie. J’ai finalement trouvé l’onglet d’annulation de l’abonnement camouflé sous l’onglet déconnexion. J’ai vraiment l’impression de m’être faire avoir.

Small Portions, High Prices, and Unwanted Shipments

It’s so ridiculous — money was automatically taken from my account several times. The portions are small and expensive, and you have to spend a lot of time cooking them. Even after I canceled my membership, they still took money, and now, hopefully for the last time, another box is on its way to me — a heavy box with ice where most of the cost basically goes toward shipping and packaging.

The food was okay the portions small, my first order was wrong so they made it up and refunded me since I have allergies and can’t eat specific foods, that was great although I still wanted to cancel my subscription since it’s wasn’t fitting my eating habits and lifestyle. The app makes it incredibly hard to unsubscribe to payments. I went away for a trip and since they only email you notifications for payment and delivery, the money was taken out of my account suddenly. When I went to ask them to refund the payment since I tried to cancel already and clearly was not successful, they told me since they refunded me on my first order (the one they messed up) that I can’t possibly get a refund and would be getting a store credit. I explained that I tried to cancel and won’t be continuing using the service, they stood firm on their no refund policy. I get it but also don’t understand having to lose money to a service I don’t want and be okay with it. Really difficult and not satisfied.

Fail

I wouldn’t recommend. The inconvenience is not worth the hassle. The idea is sound and I like having my meals ready for the next week without having to figure out meals. That said; the first 3 boxes, only 1 arrived. That’s 2/3 fail. They lied to me for 3 days, telling me my box was on the was, even though the tracking said there was nothing coming. They finally refunded my $ only to find out they did not refund ALL of it! So far this has been a big hassle… not impressed!

horribly ran company that doesn’t care about customers

i would never recommend this company to anybody. i have never had so much trouble with a business before. they make it impossible to cancel your subscription, and then when you do, they call you months later almost begging for you to renew your account. they called me while i was in the middle of my shift at work and i said that, and she didn’t give me the option to hang up. i could barely understand her, and i clearly stated at LEAST once that i did not want to reactivate my account and i did not want more boxes. she said she can apply a discount to my account, and i said that’s fine but i don’t want to order anything. i got charged $60 for a box today that i did not order, and i wasn’t even aware that my account was active. i called the customer service line and they would not issue a refund (which is ironic considering they advertise 100% money back guarantee). this has been the worst experience i’ve had with any company. so shady, and so disappointing.

Poor deliveries, poor quality and missing items. Non existent customer service and teeny fake credits (can’t really be used) for problems. We’ve tried HF three times and now we are done. Don’t waste your $$money$$!

Poor customer service

Tried to cancel order but missed deadline by a few hours. Even though order wasn’t shipping for a few days, they didn’t cancel it. Furthermore, I wasn’t even going to be home so it would be delivered to a door and be stolen. Best they offered was 50% off but they couldn’t cancel order give money back. I will cancel with them and go to a competitor.

Awful dark patterns trick users into ordering a first box without confirming payment or cost

Hello fresh makes you enter your credit card details before you can see the full price for your first box from them. Automatically, they prepare an order that you cannot cancel without calling their call center. Their cancellation flows are full of dark patterns making it as hard as possible to cancel the order you accidentally made thanks to their misleading signup flow.
I will never do business with Hellofresh again and discourage anyone else from signing up. Such shady business practices.

ABSOLUTE SCAM

These guys have been charging my credit card weekly even though I have already deleted my subscription and my account. Theres no way to stop future charges from them and you can only dispute it with your bank. Hello fresh support wont help you stop these transactions, you just get passed on to the next department. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. Do some research online and see how many people have complained about the very same thing (check reddit and better business bureau)
PS: the food is waaay too expensive for mediocre meals. Thats why I canceled my “free” subscription. Turns out you can’t stop them from charging you more

Careful

This company charges you even if you cancel your plan. No way to be refunded. The app is made for you to put your credit card information before you can modify or cancel. I’m very mad for being charged almost 100$ even if cancelled my plan right away.

Can’t Deactivate My Account

Forgot ground beef. Trying to cancel is so complicated

I got my first order today and it’s missing the ground beef for the meatballs. I talk to client care and they give me a $15 credit on a full price box. Well, I see what they’re doing. Maybe I never wanted to pay full price for a box, I just wanted to use the deal. Now I can only use the credit on a full price box. Sneaky way to make me pay full price. Then I try to cancel the whole things all together and they make it impossible. Wasted a good junk of time trying to do it only to end up calling them after all. Chefs plate is way better. I gave these guys a chance and they failed. Back to chefs plate I go. Thanks for nothing.

Don’t know the apl but the service

Is overpriced and predatory in its setup. It asks your payment info before it shows you the possible meals, and the language isn’t clear regarding if you are being charged right then or only after your pick your meals. Even after I finished creating my account I got no prompt saying I’d been charged. Only when I went to cancel the account literally seconds later, did I get a notice saying I’d already been charged for the first week. I didn’t even pick the meals! This is predatory bordering on scam behavior, and I think I will be reporting to the bbb

Malicious payment options

Auto renewal of plan when you want to only see your options of renewal. When you look to see your choices it’s deceiving and your plan is automatically made active without confirmation or consent. To cancel a plan you have to call customer service and speak to support and go through hoops. To have them remove your automatically renewing payment information or delete your account you have to submit a formal request with costumer service and wait three to five days for someone to get back to you.

Scam

Hello fresh called me after I cancelled my service to offer me a discount for future orders. The lady lied to me, telling me that she was just going to send me a coupon that I could possibly used if I wanted to. I never agree to be signed back up. Few weeks later I see that I was billed without my consent by hello fresh! They took me 50$ for a box I never wanted in the first place. I immediately called the contact center to understand what was going. The man was particulary rude on the phone, telling me that it was bassicaly my problem because I agreed to receive the coupon and that they couldn’t do anything about it. So now, I have -50$ in my bank account and a box full of food that makes me want to throw up.

The app has been broken for about the last month. It just crashes and never opens. I liked the convenience of the app but if I have to use the website anyways I will order from a different company that has beer food choices. HF meals are too carb-heavy, and way too much ground meat instead of whole pieces of meat in the meals.

Latest update DOES NOT work. Crashes every time it’s opened. Tried everything so now is absolutely useless. A rep from Hello Fresh called me after I had canceled my service to offer a discount on future orders. She lied to me on the phone about a coupon she was offering, when I specifically said I did not want to be signed back up. I immediately
reinstalled this app to check for sure and the rep had signed me up again and billed me without my consent.
I called the contact centre to voice my concern and was told they would open an investigation and follow up. I was not followed up with.
I hate to think the vulnerable people who could fall victim to this.

Thought I would see what the fuss is about. Had a promo for family of 4 package, it was $89, then when I selected my meals it happened to just double in price to $160! I signed up thinking this was supposed to be cheap, so I cancelled my subscription and therefore my “promo” and it went up to $129! So now I’m getting charged $129 for three meals I didn’t get to pick. Don’t waste your money!

Hello Fresh Review

Your customer service people emailing are better than your app as it tends to glitch but aside from that it's not bad at all. It would be nice if meals didn't relate so closely. I got 2 meals served on buns in one delivery both look amazing but I was surprised with how similar they are in that area.
