Commercials

I don’t have buffering problems like I have read on other reviews. My beef is I have Crave Premium and I’m getting commercials this isn’t right you try to support a Canadian company and this is what you get probably won’t renew. Will try a different streaming service.

Do some research before buying.

I bought the standard thinking I can still sign in onto more devices then 2 but only stream/watch on 2 devices so I bought premium and it’s telling me to sign in even though I’m paying on it. So I can’t watch all the movies and shows it says you can. So don’t buy anything.

Horrible experience

Honestly, the worst app so far. I am going to cancel. The ads are running in set of 3 and sometimes 3 times in a row ( which makes it 9 ads) also right after the ads the episode will started again from the beginning, or the ad will just block the screen as if it loads and then you have to restart the app and then again watch set of 3 ads. And it’s been like this since day 3, I was hoping it will resolve but it’s been 3 weeks and no change. Honestly super annoying. I wish I could just watch HBO.

Worst Mobile Streaming App

Continual programming crashes on an updated app and operating system. No PiP support even in the premium tier. In ad supported plan you get 4 ads every five minutes. I would be okay with diabolical greed of the price point which is $6 higher than other streamers even at the ad supported tier - but, this app cant even function. Awful.

Crashes constantly

Crave is probably the worst streaming service based on technology and troubleshooting. It crashes constantly and it’s impossible to get through to customer service. Actually what is customer service at crave? I’ve never gotten through to them successfully. When you’re paying $30 a month for service, why is it so hard to get customer support. The way they change the login options regularly and it never gets easier. It’s always more difficult. I think it’s about time I stop paying Crave anything. Make it easier to log in with proper credentials. Make it easier to get through to customer service and fix these ‘error codes’.

Squeezing as much money out of the consumer as possible

I love the ads so much. Really enjoy having the show I’m watching in the platform I’ve already paid twenty five dollars a month for cramming in four ad breaks that restart everytime you rewind. I wish I could transfer all my life savings to Bell Canada Inc. and they would let me watch thirty seconds of the Pitt for every four ads they want to show me.

Too many ADs-Frustrating

The multiple ads that have been experienced during watching Willie Grace, for example, is unreasonable, repetitive, and annoying, especially when you’re paying the highest amount per month for Crave. It’s interrupting the flow for the viewer and, if you have to restart cycle back, go forward it backward it re-introduces more ads !, it’s like watching TV during the 1970s again, going backwards.

Ads are out of control

I really enjoy the content Crave offers, but the algorithm with which they decide to run ads is ridiculous. If I'm trying to find a specific scene in the show, it makes me watch three ads *every time I rewind or fast forward.* It's like you have to pay to fast forward by watching a commercial break. This is really starting to affect my viewing experience, and I hesitate to recommend this service to others because of this issue.

Crave has lots of good shows which is why I keep my subscription but compared to other apps the streaming platform itself is terrible. The ad selection is garbage. I always get the same five ads of repeat, sometimes back-to-back. I also find the ap has a lot of trouble loading.

Continuously fails.

I’ve enjoyed watching Crave and HBO for several years on my iPad and Apple TV through Telus as the TV provider. I had a premium tier subscription that I could download content and watch offline using the Crave app. The app would periodically ask me to sign in which was an annoyance and I was able to carry on. Twice in one week I got locked out and no matter how many times I tried to reset or sign in again to the app I could not view my downloads. So frustrated I removed Crave from my television provider, their support service is terrible.

Not Impressed…Time To Cancel

I was so excited to see the old classic TV shows on the Crave app. I was shocked however, to see the ridiculously excessive number of un-skippable ads in order to watch them. It doesn’t make any sense when the other Crave content I watch is ad-free…I pay for this subscription in order to avoid the repetitive ads, and it’s reached a point where I’d rather watch these shows with ads on YouTube for free because at least there are fewer interruptions, and those can be skipped. Given the abysmal performance of CBC with their constant ads interrupting the Olympic Opening Ceremonies, you certainly aren’t doing very much for the reputation of Canadian streaming services. Cut the ads for premium subscribers before you lose them - and their revenue. Based on the majority of complaints here, it’s not an unrealistic outcome - most unsatisfied people don’t bother with reviews - they just leave.

Always some issue

There’s always some type of issue with this app. Customer support is non existent even though I wrote to them multiple times. So tired of the bugs!

Again the app won’t playback videos! Keeps telling me I need to login. I have logged out and back in multiple times! I’ve restarted the app. I’ve rebooted my iPad. Lots of glitches

Crave is a decently expensive subscription so I expect the app to be a lot better than what it is. The TV app constantly has issues with playback, keeping my place on shows and restarts at least once a day. Please work out these kinks or I will be cancelling and moving to a streaming service with a better app.

Awful App

It’s a terrible app with many bugs that have been happening for over a year with no fix. You’ll be watching an episode of a show and after an Ad it skips to the next episode. Sometimes you can go back and finish your previous episode but most of the time it just keeps going to the next episode. Sometimes after an ad the ready to cast screen comes up and won’t let you cast the current episode it cut off on.

terrible quality

My biggest complaint about crave is its user interface. it’s so hard to use. it’s like on purpose they made it difficult to use. Secondly the picture quality just sucks. It does not run on standard 24 frames per second as interceded by the source. so picture is very juddery. on top of that it’s not very sharp like netflix or prime.

I got the basic subscription and not only can i not watch half the stuff on here.. there are far to many adds. If i fast forward at all it gives me 3 ads. I spend more time watching adds then the actual shows. I think their basic subscription should either choose to have adds but can still watch everything or no ads and cant watch everything.. the subscription is pretty much pointless unless you buy premium… fail crave.. you could be better than Netflix if you stopped with the money grabbing.

Crave is expensive like all Bell products, unfortunately I don’t see that improving anytime soon, probably only going to get more expensive especially with “add on packages”
The service they provide is average, they have a decent movie and TV selection. They tend to feature Canadian, indy, BIPOC, LGBTQ content. Big thumbs up. More more more! They don’t have a fast turn over of product and don’t bring in new lots of new products unless its a holiday.

No Picture-in-Picture in 2023??

There is no Picture-in-Picture for the ios app. How is it that every other video watching app from youtube to disney plus have PiP but crave cannot manage to add that feature to their app?? seriously behind the times and they are getting outclassed by other streaming services because of this. There have been so many times i have just stopped watching whatever show i was streaming on crave because i couldn’t go on other apps while watching. It’s incredible how out of touch bell media is. 200$ for the year for an ads free service for the same shows that they had before?! I Heard so many complaints about the plans with ads and for 149$/year for that plan, you would expect it to be ad free! FOR THE SAME SHOWS THAT THEY HAD BEFORE THE PRICE HIKE! Crave is the worst streaming platform

Crave forced me into getting a year subscription which was in the 250 dollar range. Little did I know I was getting the lowest amount for my money, it doesn’t tell you which movies you get if you don’t have premium and the ads freeze the movie every time they play. I understand I bought the budget friendly version but should I really be punished for that? I watched GOT and then at episode 6 it stopped and said I needed to upgrade to continue. Update doesn’t work on my iPad

Very upset as I watch Friends all the time tuned in to watch and said I needed update when I updated it said I needed to update to an older Crave version? I have no access’s now as it won’t download older version or update?

Latest update won’t load

I have an older iPad so I understand that the latest update can’t be loaded. But when Get a message saying that I can download an older version and try to download it, it just pops me back to the same question. So now I can’t use the app. Help?

Limiting devices instead of concurrent streams

This video service is the only one I see that limits number of devices instead of how many concurrent. That makes for horrible experience. Family members have phones, iPads and a laptop but must pick 1 device so each family member can use. Come on Bell. There’s a reason Netflix, Disney, AppleTV+, Global, Prime, CityTV, Paramount, NHL, etc… don’t take this approach!

Have been trying to sign in on xbox/laptop and phone to access account but it crashes every time i go into account settings to cancel my 20 dollar sub…..how convenient…for them

Very expensive

Implementing plans to Crave Mobile plan ($9.99/mo) & Crave Total ($19.99/mo) is just plain corporate greed. Can’t understand why, with the Basic plan, you won’t allow to cast on a streaming device, & only allowed to watch on a mobile device. You have to upgrade to $200 a year + tax in order to do so 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Horrible New Pricing

Not a fan of the new pricing. Have to pay twice the price to watch the old lowest cost content on your TV.
Maybe a good option if you only watch things on your phone.
They make it seem like good news, it will be my last month with Crave.
Still the most expensive streaming option in Canada when you factor everything in.

The services “upgrade” is actually a downgrade.

Don’t get excited that they are now offering HBO as included on all plans — if you’re on the regular plan, the app is being downgraded to ONE device, mobile-only, worse resolution, no casting, no Apple TV. They are intentionally hobbling the app and forcing an upgrade to the Crave Total tier and disguising it as a value-add. Anti-consumer.

The latest update (3.59.0) has removed the Picture in Picture feature. Do not update if you use PIP. Without it, the app is useless. Please bring back this feature.

Charged but cannot access

I’m being charged for Crave TV through iTunes and cannot access the content. I’ve contacted Crave TV directly who told me to contact Apple who told me to contact the Developer. This sucks as far a customer service. I’ve cancelled my subscription.

720p max (!), bad image quality

Resolution is low (with any connection and streaming device)
There also seems to be image smoothing happening (my tv has all image processing turned off, yet skins and hair are blurred in less detailed areas)
Comparing the quality to Netflix and Apple TV, it's very noticeably worse. I consider it unwatchable.
For a crave to serve a 20 year old resolution at a time where everybody else is streams 1080 or 4k is just mindboggling.

Extremely disappointed in both Crave AND Apple

I was unknowingly double billed for two subscriptions - one which I initiated directly through Crave’s web site AND a second through Apple. They both had the exact same start date, but they were billed to two different credit cards with two different account email addresses. I never activated a subscription through Apple, only through Crave. I canceled my ‘direct’ Crave subscription quite quickly because my Apple TV is somehow signed into another account with a hotmail address and no matter what I do I cannot sign out, so a subscription is useless. I received an email from Crave confirming my subscription had been cancelled. I had no idea I had two simultaneous subscriptions and needed to cancel both - who would have thought that?! However, 7 months later, I discovered the double billing situation - where Apple had been billing me ever since for a 2nd subscription (which I never activated). I contacted Crave for a refund, but they couldn’t locate an account in their database connected to me (other than my initial subscription which they confirmed had been canceled) - because Apple only gives them non-specific information for subscriptions that come through them (due to privacy restrictions). Crave couldn’t/wouldn’t refund me without being able to find my charges. Apple refused to refund me beyond 3 months because it is their strict policy for subscriptions. Apple also would not contact Crave to give them my account information (which Crave said was needed in order to track this ‘mystery duplicate’ subscription). I asked Crave for a 4-month free subscription in return for paying and getting nothing, they refused. So basically, because the two companies wouldn’t talk to each other, I lost money (4 months of subscription fees) and never watched a single Crave show. Not happy with either company.

The primary reason why I DONT use Crave more regularly is the audio problem. Come on guys. 5.1 audio please. Limiting to stereo sound is just ridiculous!!!!!

Quality content, mediocre accessibility

I canceled Netflix because I can only afford one movie/tv subscription per month. I’ve chosen to go with Crave and HBO because I’m more interested in a lot of the content. However, I wish the website worked properly on my chrome book, and I wish there was an application for my PS4. The application runs well, but it’s quite simple. The content could use some better organization as well, and a bit more variety in content would be nice, not that it is bad. Overall a very positive experience that could ultimately use some fine tuning.

Horrible customer service

I’ve been writing emails for over two weeks with issues on not being able to sign in on my computer because it continually sends me back to the sign in screen.
All they do is ask me for the same basic information and then never respond again. It’s really frustrating since my computer is my main source for watching programmes. It’s also frustrating to realize how much they don’t care. Like REALLY don’t care.

Almost 200$ per year!!! What?

I signed up, paid for one year up front as it was cheaper then monthly. BUT what they failed to mention is that’s you only get to watch there basic shows, you have to pay an additional 100$ to upgrade to premium to watch all the good shows that they advertise on tv like Deadpool, GOT, & split. They would not give me a refund and stated it was in the policy, asked to speak to a manager and they said a manager would call me back.. Nope! Very disappointed!!!

Lagging / buffering

Just started a few weeks ago - buffering every ten-ish minutes when casting. It’s the only video app that does this. :-(

Horrible

Paid for a year of crave + $200 through iTunes. Popcorn ready... crave says I’m not subscribed. Called crave support. Was told even though I have been billed I will not have access until they resolve an issue between bell and iTunes. Wasted an entire evening trying to figure this out. Beyond frustrating.
