I guess???

The App is ok, it can function ok, but what it can't ok is working on I pad. Yes it works, but the screen does not fit the whole device, AND you can only use it vertically.

I mean, you can have the screen become larger, but not really the same effect.

It works, but it's really tedious to use.

eBooks?

Since our current situation I thought that the online Library offers eBooks but I guess they don’t. Can you also make it compatible for iPad. I have been longing to read and when I couldn’t find any eBooks it felt like the whole thing is pointless. Does the library not offer eBooks because I thought they did. If you do have eBooks can you fix this on the app and make it compatible for iPad thanks. (Just wondering if you have a eBook called Haddix Into The Hidden or any of the Shadow Children series I forgot the author’s name tho but thanks if you check.)

Disappointing

Same issue as others, on an iPad app opens as though sized for an iPhone 4, strangely enough it opens up full screen on my iPhone 6. Something needs to be corrected in the most recent update since the prior version worked just fine on my iPad. Library staff is aware of the problem and provides issue reports to IT staff but nothing happens. Library staff tells customers to reinstall which unfortunately changes nothing.

Outdated but Functional

This might be the only app on my phone that hasn’t been updated for the larger sized iPhone which were released in 2014 (!!!). The locations map doesn’t work but the rest seems to do an okay job.

I would suggest updating the app to modern standards and integrating Apple Wallet support so I can use a digital library natively without opening the app.

Crashing

I have about 12 books in my “For Later” shelf. App keeps crashing when I try and see which books they are. I let it load before going into the shelf but that doesn’t help. Please fix!

On my iPhone Xs Max it doesn't download and it is super glitchy

It works, but looks terrible

While the functionality of the app is there, it looks terrible. Surprising that it still hasn’t been updated for the larger iPhone X/XR/XS/XS Max screens.

As a workaround, if you go to calgarylibrary.ca on Safari it works and looks much better.

Bad app

Crashes often (always when accessing my shelf), Screens take long to load, tells me there’s a hold on a book when I try to renew and they tell me at the library there are no holds.

Doesn’t work anymore

I signed out books from a calgary public library two weeks ago. The books didn’t show up in the app right away, but they did show up about a minute later. I checked the app to see when the due date is, and saw that there were no books signed out. Then I checked the settings and I was logged out. The login button doesn’t work! Please fix the issue! The convenience was fantastic!

It’s okay

The app thinks it’s always a phone. I use my IPad, and it’s just a rectangle in the centre of my screen. Sometimes, I’ll just be scrolling or searching, and all of a sudden it glitches and shut downs the app. 🤦🏻‍♀️! Otherwise, it’s ...okay.

It’s functional, but ugly

This app works great but the UI looks like it was developed for the iPhone 4. The design language is outdated and there are bars on the top and bottom because the resolution and spect ratio are from older phones.

Doesn’t work on iPad

You’d think that they would design the app to work on the very common iPad, which is the device a lot of people would use to download and read ebooks from, but no. The bottom of the screen has a menu tool bar covering the option buttons and you can’t drag the screen up to reveal all the buttons. Interface with Overdrive is awkward. I finally got my book to open with Libby. Come on folks, invest a few hours with your IT department and a decent designer and get this smoothed out.

Small glitches with big impacts

The drop down menus to refine search results does not respond when you press “done” to select your category. So you have to sort through all formats or genres to find what you’re looking for. Very very frustrating.

Cannot refine your search now. I sent two emails about this but it has not been fixed.

Also, clicking on “App Support” goes to an invalid website. Please fix this as well.

Use to be a great app. Looking forward to it working again.

This app does not work well at all. When I search for books and even scan the ISBN nothing pops up but when I used the website to search for the same book, I found exactly what I was looking for. Please update

How do I actually get to read a book?

Downloads direct you elsewhere. First time to Cloud Library. Next time to another app. I download to my browser set and have to sign in again. And then I get error messages. I use an app and I have to sign in again. And again. And again. And then it doesn't work. I just want to read a book. Please make it less arcane. I don't have a degree in computer engineering.

The only feature I personally am interested in is the ability to store my Calgary Library Card in Apple Wallet.

A mobile website wrapped in an app

Just another one of these "apps" that's essentially a mobile website in an app container. Functional, though, and much better than the other Calgary Library all (why are there two??)

This app is missing a great opportunity to add your library card to passbook. Instead, it's deep inside the app as a static image.

Give us passbook support so we don't even need to open the app!

Stuck on install

Downloaded for my iPhone, but froze during install process and never completed. Now I'm stuck with a visible icon that I can't open and can't delete. Complete fail.

Semi-Functional

A poor, semi-functional app. Requires two application downloads to read e-books, features a horribly confusing user interface and isn't optimized for the iPhone 6 or 6+. Books are free, but may not be worth the hassle.

This app and the needed Overdrive app are so confusing non intuitive. I'm super tech savvy yet I can't figure out how the heck to get an eBook with it! Make it easier to use!

I will keep using the old website

I was really excited about the barcode library card feature, i thought i could scan it at the self check out machine. BUT you need an internet connection to get the barcode to work ????? So not useful for me unless i first login to the wifi at the library (to much hassle just to check out).

And then the logo just to strange to make me think that it is from a library so i would never find this app back specially as the app name says “Calgary PL” on my phone.
