Can’t access my email
I’m very satisfied so far by the app and the improvements made over the last year. Unfortunately, today I can no longer access my email because apparently I’m offline and since I’m don’t have a premium account I can’t use offline mode. I tried switching to 5G/LTE, no luck. As you can see my wifi is working well. I tried to reach out to support but I can’t see my issue on the list and I can’t reach out to the support team.
EDIT: the issue resolved by itself a few hours later. The Support/Dev answer me bellow, but I still remove one star because if you don’t have access to your email, how can you contact them by email??

I want to love it but just can’t—Free Tier Review
I really just wished the company gave the search functionality on an email service. Without it; the free tier is rendered useless for proper use. I’d rather be reduced to 500mb of email storage in exchange for search functionality. It’s sad but I’ll be completely switching to proton or mailfence. I am a user since 2021; I did wait until to see if such a basic function would be rolled out to the free tier but it’s just not possible for me to fall in love with this mail without it. Everything else was solid tho. I am aware that the company offers paid subscription so it may be right for you if that’s the way you want to go. For me however, I’m coming from gmail, Hotmail etc so I sacrificed a lot for privacy, just needed the search to make my life work but it is what it is..

Sur IPhone 14 et iOS 17.5 bêta, la dernière version de l’application ne fonctionne pas bien. L’indicateur en ligne verte dans le haut ne se rend pas au bout de ses opérations. Il est aussi impossible de jeter un message. C’est la première fois que j’ai des problèmes avec cette application.

Worth looking at alternatives
Originally wanted an alternative to Gmail and started using Tutanota. This app specifically is just miles behind competitors. The Tuta search function is barely usable and recently their servers have been disconnecting for hours at a time leaving you without access to your emails. Pretty sad for 2024.

Good with two issues
I use the free Tuta mail for incoming email that warrant privacy. No issues. It works well. I received an unwanted email from one of my apps. I deleted it. The body of the email is gone but it (the header? Not big on tech jargon) still appears in my inbox. Tried deleting several ways. Turned off my iPhone. Tried moving it to spam and trash files. I emptied my trash. I am told that logging out will make it go away, but for the life of me I cannot find any way to log out on my phone. I went online and logged out. It went away on-line but is still there on my phone. I have found the support to be cryptic at best, useless if asking a question. Prompts me to get the paid version often, so maybe that’s the deal. Still a great app for privacy, but lost two stars for the reasons listed above. Update: was contacted by Tuta with a solution that worked perfectly. Delete app and reinstall. Glad I know my password! Thanks for the help! Added a 4th star.

Love paid user experience
Used Tutanota free for a while, but I upgraded to paid service at least two years ago now. Transitioned to Tutanota as my primary email as I feel so safe with it. Got to love encryption. Love the aliases: have emails for personal name, professional name, and stage/pen name (even a “parent” email), but ease of everything in one inbox. Also, in this day and age, I would rather pay a small fee and not be monitored, then give away everything like with the mainstream services.

Login credentials always failing
I lost track of the number of times I had to use my recovery key to regain access to my account. It would work, then I’d be able get into my account. It worked but once I logged out and went to log back in, I was given invalid login credentials message again. The stability of your account and if they’ve been compromised makes me concerned enough to drop the product.

Not the best
Text size is unreadable in some new emails. Double tap to zoom doesn’t work. Until font size can be adjusted it won’t work for those with vision problems

Not working anymore
I tried to login on both phone app and browser on lap top. It is telling me to update the app. On the phone I did, still not working.
And on the browser i don't use an app, i don't see why it does not work.
If its so safe that the user cannot log in anymore, you missed the mark.
I have used yahoo for 20 years, never any problems like this. Fore sure its not so safe, and trying to move away from big tech, the whole account is inaccessible to me. Nice try, total fail.

After using Tutanota for secure mail only, I’ve just switched to it as my main email. Minimalist, but solid & secure. Also love the calendar option.
The one thing that would be really useful: allow offline access…

Obsolescence by design
Yet another app update that wants to force users to shell out more money for newer device. Very, very disappointed. Now suddenly tutanota is obsolete for anyone who sees no reason to upgrade to the latest devices when their current one is still fully functional. This just keeps making important services inaccessible to large portions of the population. Users running iOS 12.5.5 should not suddenly be losing access. I can’t believe all these email providers who can’t provide simple access. Reactivate the connections for app versions that worked before iOS 13.
Update following developer’s response: I appreciate Tutanota taking the time to respond to this review. What I don’t understand is why the app is now obsolete on older iOS devices when the work around of “add website to home screen” basically allows users to get the same experience as the app. At least include that fact in the error pop up or in the app details perhaps? Or advise users via email since they’ll since have uninstalled the obsolete app.
That said, FYI iOS 12.5.5 USERS —> signing in via your device’s web browser and adding the login page to your device’s homescreen allows you to regain access to your secure mailbox on your device without buying into (pun intended) the obsolescence by design trends (be it Apple’s or Developers’ ‘fault’). Using Safari this way, its practically an identical experience as the app prior to its update (minus notifications, sadly), at least as of this review update.

Need iOS 13 or u are locked out
Unbelievable. I got emails from them saying i need to update the app. So i go check and there is no update. Then today i can’t login anymore. So i searched it and found out it now requires iOS 13 which my iPad mini 2 doesn’t support (highest is 12.5.5). Because it’s not supported, that’s why it never showed up when i checked for update. Dropping support for iOS versions before v13 was NEVER communicated in the emails they sent out. So now suddenly i find myself being locked out of email and calendar.

I keep getting notified that I need to update my tutanota app. I have the most current update for my iPhone 6 which is 12.5.5. From what I understand I need iOS 13? So basically I need to buy a new phone to use your app? If so that’s frustrating. I tried to use the contact option to enquire but that doesn’t work either.

Keeps crashing on my iPhone
The mobile app keeps crashing on my iPhone 6 which is up to date with iOS 15.1. This is very frustrating. Is this a known issue? Is there a fix coming?
