Description

GW Mailbox is a GroupWise email and calendar app for the iPhone and iPad. With this app you get a much better interface than Novell delivers by default through GroupWise WebAccess. This app gives you some of the enterprise features that you wouldn't get with simple POP/IMAP - like access to your Frequent Contacts and GroupWise address book.

This app is designed to work with a Novell GroupWise email server. Novell GroupWise is an email server like Lotus Notes or Microsoft Exchange. If you do not have access to a Novell GroupWise email account, this app will not work for you. Your IT department should be able to provide you with the URL to your company's GroupWise WebAccess server.

Notice: GW Mailbox uses GroupWise WebAccess to get your email data. If your GroupWise administrator has not made GroupWise WebAccess available to you, GW Mailbox will not work for you. We support Novell Access Manager. But if your company uses a different proxy server, then GW Mailbox will not work. GW Mailbox requires an active internet connection.

Support:

iOS: This app requires iOS 9 or later.

Devices: GW Mailbox works with your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, and requires an internet connection to work.

GroupWise: GW Mailbox has been tested to work with GroupWise 18, GroupWise 2014 R2, GroupWise 2014, GroupWise 2012, GroupWise 8, GroupWise 7 and GroupWise 6.5.

V6.2 has bugs - fixed in a flash

Below is a review by me - bugs in V6.2 (6.3 is good)

Fixed in a flash (thanks) - also had contacted developer and had VERY PROMPT REPY AND FIX (all within a day or so).

This was a one day professional reply and fix. Thanks for the efficiency. Back to 5 stars.

Initial review below one day after v6.2 release:

Recent update noted 1 day ago has bugs!

When app opens, it immediately blanks on screen, but remains open in background.

Delete and reinstall seems OK on 1st use, but if close and open, back to same problem, so must leave open for now and see (3rd reinstall and counting ...)

Frustrated

This is the only app I pay to use. I need it for work and it is very frustrating. Often times it does not work. Even if I have wifi I often have to resort to data to open it and even doing that it often times does not work. I simply feel if I am paying so much to have it, it should work all the time.

I never write reviews but I am throughly impressed with the customer service from this app developer. When my IT dept did little (nothing) to fix the issue with the app locally, the developer helped with a fix around the issue. Back up and running - great communication.

Groupwise App Review

1) Cannot attach any file while sending the email

2) The received email sometimes do not support the emails with pictures in the body.

3) 50% of the time the app give hard time loading up the app itself and the emails and will end up loading and loading and loading.

Not worth it

App is buggy and just poorly designed; may be free to download but requires payment to use, one week free trial, so very misleading.

As soon as I started my free trial, opened up my first email, the app doesn't mark the email as read, so really what's the point?? Other issues as well with this app, so not worth a subscription just to get email access.

Asked for a monthly subscription

I signed up for a monthly subscription thus year because my work Email is changing Email providers next month and was charged for a full year! Now I can't get my money back and won't key me change my subscription. Not happy!

GW MAILBOX APP

This app is a great way to stay connected to your work email while not at work. I've been using GW MAILBOX for almost a year now and I find it very helpful on storm days or on days when the Internet is down at work I can just just log onto my mail through my phone 😊

Poor functionality

This functionality of this app is quite poor. Getting stuck on screens are a very frequent occurrence. There have been a number of times I have just become frustrated with the app and logged onto a computer to send emails.

Best option out there

Little ticked off about the subscription model (that everybody is going to) and that my old app purchase was no longer supported with the last iOS update. But I have no complaints about functionality - it's all there.

The least worst devil helping to access the worst devil...

Groupwise itself is an awful interface, and I have no idea why any organization would use it, especially since there is no practical way of forwarding emails to another email address, or another mailing app. GW Mailbox allows the only easy way to access Groupwise on the smart phone. At $12 a year, however, one has to ask what kind of kickback might exist to line the pocket of Groupwise...

No good for iPhone

Had this app for my Blackberry and it worked like a charm. Not the same story with my iPhone. Takes forever, if it loads at all. I know several of my colleagues have the exact same issue with this app and their iPhones. Not worth the money.

Great support but...

The title says it all - the fact that I know about the support. The app used to work reasonably well but over the last year it has been getting progressively worse. It takes forever to load - usually times out first, and it it does manage to load then usually I can't open any attachment. Every time I have contacted the support team at Ghost Pattern, they were always very quick to reply and to work toward a solution which would eventually work until a new problem appeared. My colleagues who use this app on an iPhone all have the same experiences; it works sometimes and we just have to be patient and wait

After one year with the paid version, the notifications never worked, unless the app was running in the background.

The app is decent, but without proper notifications, I'm not renewing the $10/annual fee.

This app is atrocious. Every time you leave it and come back to it, it reloads. And slowly. It's generally very slow. Also you can't attach a file to an email. Imagine that? I only use this app because work forces me to use Novell. It's really terrible. And they charge you for it!

Worked fine until latest update

Worked fine until most recent update. Now I cannot send any messages out from this app! Paid subscription should help cover testing updates before pushing buggy ones out to the public. No? Don't mean to be critical, but this is an app likely used by most in a business environment where communication is important...

Frustrating app

We're using Groupwise as our company communication at an airline. It's nice that I can delete emails off the server from this app. But, the communication errors and loading time are frustrating. Worst for me is that I usually can not access my emails while not connected to a network, which is of course anytime I'm in flight.

Ok I guess...

Had to get this app because email at work is with Groupwise and old calendar app I had for it didn't work with iOS 8.

Is there a way to see more than the current month in the calendar ? I can't figure where to go to see other months...very frustrating to schedule appointements !

Long time user

Update of Oct 23 fixed most of my concerns. Much more pleased than when I wrote the following:

I am still trying to work with the Calendar on my iPad Mini before giving up and working on my iPhone. But, occasionally the contents of my calendar are uploaded and I can continue on the iPad. I subscribed expecting issues as with past versions. If the problems are fixed by next year's renewal time, I'll hang in. If not, count me out.

I only use groupwise because it is our corporate system. Possibly the worst email service out there. Painfully slow to open each email. Fails to open attachments in most formats. Too many problems to list. Just avoid this old out dated service.

Not Worth the Money

Very disappointed in this app as it's more frustrating than functional. Experiencing a number of glitches loading messages due to login issues and the calendar feature won't work on my iPhone4.

Most Improved

Having used the original GWMail app I found it to be somewhat frustrating to say the least. In fact opening mail took so long I shelved the app. The newest version is very refreshing. No long waits to open mail and convenient notifications.

Yet another company jumps on the subscription model bandwagon

I was very happy with your previous GW mail app. It was expensive and slow, but it was a big improvement over the Novell alternative. Now you've switched to a subscription model and the old app that I paid $10 for is no longer available for download, let alone supported. I don't mind paying another $10 for a major version update, but the subscription model makes no sense! You are providing an app, not a service. There is no reason that I should have to continue to pay $9 every year. I'll stick with my older version thanks.
