Your first 30 minutes of parking or first transit ticket is on us.
With HotSpot Parking, you can:

Love this App!!
One million times better than the parking app I used back in Toronto. Hotspot has saved me from parking tickets by bumping up my time, AND you can refund a session if you don’t need the full time. ❤️ Thank you Hotspot!!

Not worth it
I used this app back before they decided to hose users with a monthly fee. I even took the time to write them a nice lengthy letter explaining how this process hurts the users over selling ads for business close to your parking spot, when you log in. They decided it made more sense to hose users than use a smarter business model. Not worth getting this app, total crap.

Breaks iOS the rules. Terrible signup process with memberships and subscriptions and minimum purchases which make no sense if you just want to put a couple bucks in a meter. But they’ve got you between a rock and a hard place and they stage you over the hot coals of hell.

Avoid
There’s no parking meters, so we’re forced to download and use this app. Must add funds($10 minimum) to account instead of pay per use. Need additional membership to pay for parking. Worse of all, it’s difficult to cancel the membership($2 a month) and remove credit card.

I was nervous to use this app, cause I wasn’t quite understanding what I needed to pay for or not :p I got an immediate refund when I contacted customer service via email! Even explained to me what it was I needed as a bus user :p recommend !!

Easy to use
Never hunt for change again. Can add to your time without running back to the car. And end your session early if need be.

Awful
Not user friendly at all. Had no option other than to use this app to park. Ended my less than 2 hour session only to find later in the evening a timer was still running stating I parked there for 10 hours!!!

Not helpful for visitors
I tried to use this application to pay for parking in Peterborough. All parking spots we visited do not accept credit cards, and this application was the only option. I was’t able to pay because it requires a membership. Subscribing for an annual or monthly plan didn’t make sense for us because we were visiting Peterborough just for a day.

Much cheaper to put coins in a meter
This app and company charged my credit card each month (although sometimes it seems to be pending with no charge). It amounted to $16 over two years without me knowing including a $9 unused credit I had to add to the card. Plus it is very difficult to figure out how to cancel. This is not good business practice and it’s being promoted within many cities.
On the up side they have been responding to my emails so I’m updating my review.

Disappointed
Took 10 minutes to sign in to the app today where the app just said it was loading while it had crashed, so paid the machine directly. Got to work and it finally signs me in. Tried to pay for time for a car in zone 4503 and it didn’t seem to work at all unless i gave it a spot number.

Not worth the hassle
As inconvenient as it is to carry cash, it’s still 1000x more convenient than using this app or service in general. I’ve had an account for years, but have never successfully used the app or website to pay for my parking, and have still never successfully gotten into the app.

Tried setting up the app.
It accepted my password. Then steps later said it was not secure enough. Tried having it send me the link to reset password. Never received. Tried setting up with a second email account, same issues.

Easy to use app but POOR customer service
The app is easy enough to use for parking, reloading, etc. However the moment you need to get customer service involved is different. Unprofessional and borderline combative responses from customer service. While email responses were timely I felt like I was speaking to a moody teenager.

Interface is not very intuitive. Parking History is not in parking. Refund session does not mean the session, just the balance of the session. Etc.

Very positive experience
I downloaded this app bc it was advertised on the post of the parking meter for which I had no loose coins and it did not accept credit cards. It took a while to get the app downloaded and then load money and I had a group of guests waiting for me at a restaurant. In all the multitasking I was grateful to not have to also get change and then feed the meter. I highly recommend this app and want to also report that their team is very gracious and responsive to any issues that might come up. They were so helpful to me when I ran into trouble with my first time use and assisted me very effectively. Thank you to Hotspot. Grace Mackintosh

Junk appshould be able to just use your card without having a balance and signing up for a membership. Total rip off people visit from areas that have these meters and now have remaining money on a pointless app they only use once.

The developer(s) has done a great job and deserves a modest compensation. We are, like it or not, in a cashless society. You park, reach for your change but have none in your pocket, you walk to a store who may make change for you, you walk back to your car only to find a ticket already under your wiper! Now you pay for parking in the comfort of your vehicle and know when you return, you will not find a ridiculously priced ticket. Great job guys.

Can not Verify Phone Number

Live map non existent
I’m using this app for the busses, but the live map never seems to work for me. Takes forever to load and then tells me there’s no bus on that route (which I know is false).

Just one thing
I love the app, and how easy everything is on it. The multi vehicle option is really great, and not having to leave what you’re doing to add change to a metre is the best part of it. We meet with clients downtown and not having to interrupt that to put another $1 in is a game changer for us. We’ve always just let it ride and take the ticket, which adds up quickly.
There is just one thing with the whole process, which has nothing to do with the app directly, it would be really cool if there was a large enough metre number on the pay station that you could see from the parking spot. It has never really been an issue. It was just the other day I was going downtown for lunch with my little boy, and dragging him half a block in the wrong direction in heavy snow wasn’t ideal. Aside from that, parking downtown has never been easier. Not to mention you get your unused time back on your phone. Great app, I recommend it!

Feels like a data scraping scam
The amount of information needed to pay for parking is highly suspicious. This app was an immediate nope/delete.
You don’t need my phone number or know the make of my car for any reason. License plate I can see, the rest, there’s no reason whatsoever. Montreal, Quebec City and more have their own apps with none of this data collection.

No GPS Location?
Our city just implemented hot spot parking meters although they are money saving is there no way to implement GPS within the app to locate the closest meter to my phone location so that I don’t have to walk to the end of the block to find out what stupid meter box I’m parked at in the middle of -30 degree weather or maybe put the number in a larger font then 10pt so it’s visible. Our city is obviously so cheap that they have only installed a box every square kilometre. Is this not 2020 I feel like this sort of technology exists?

I put actual money into a meter today and I got home to see that hotspot had charged my credit card the exact same amount I had put in, 2,30$. That should not have happened.

Auto subscription
I disabled auto subscription within the app and it still charged me 2.30$/month. The app works fine but makes it really hard to cancel your membership. Not impressed with this app at all.

Easy to use and a $$ saver
The app is really user friendly and it’s simple to add time to your session. This has no doubt saved me a ticket or three because I get the alert on my phone that my meter is running out and I can add time with a button click. I also don’t have to worry about running outside to wherever I’m parked to feed the meter.
Bonus is that you can refund any time you haven’t used so you don’t have to worry about properly estimating the time needed.
