We've put together some bug fixes and feature updates for this 10.1.3 release. Here's what's new:

• The input mode (Mouse Pointer or Touch mode) is now global across all active PC and remote app connections.

• Fixed an issue that prevented microphone redirection from working consistently.

• Fixed a bug that caused audio output to play from an iPhone earpiece instead of the internal speaker.

• Added support for automatically switching audio output between the iPhone/iPad internal speaker, bluetooth speakers and Airpods.

• Audio now continues to play in the background when switching away from the client or locking the device.

• The input mode automatically switches to Touch mode when using a SwiftPoint mouse on iPhones or iPads (not running iPadOS 13.4 or later).

• Addressed graphics output failures that occurred when the server was configured to use AVC444 full screen mode.

• Fixes to address VoiceOver bugs.

In addition, we've changed how panning around a zoomed in session works when using an external mouse or trackpad. To move around a zoomed in session with an external mouse or trackpad, simply press on and then drag away from the pan knob with the mouse cursor. To pan around in Touch mode, simply press on the pan knob and then move your finger. The session will stick to your finger and follow it around. Finally, in Mouse Pointer mode you can pan around by pushing the virtual mouse cursor against the sides of the screen.

Update has more bugs than previous version

I just updated to this latest version and i am not impressed.

1st it changed all of my PCs in the main windows on my IPas pro IOS 13.6.1,

2nd didnt want to accept my user name

3rd once connected to remote PC it keeps disconnecting

4th now need to tap twice to get virtual keyboard up

5th when closing keyboard , i end up on a black screen, after many tries it seems that by taping on +- button screen comes back

7th some time the double tap hold, seems to stick and when you move the cursor, the page or wondow you are on goes up/dows / sideways as the cursor didn’t disengaged.

So far not impressed would like to go back to previous version that was working fine.

And fix the resolution, before screen was perfect, now it doesnt ajust to my IPad pro, every vertical move of the cursor, the screen goes up or down it’s annoying.

Mouse cannot go all the way down right

Thank you for the whole screen on Iphone 10/11. It was time! It seems the update was only done so M$ now has access to microphone, camera and Bluetooth !!!

If I want to minimize all windows by clicking on bottom right corner it does not work!

Can’t get it to work

This app is unnecessarily convoluted. It takes a bunch of arcane Windows settings to be changed by hand, and even then there is no guarantee that it will work. The app would not accept my user name and password and keeps saying “this user account didn’t work”.

Good news I have 2 iPads and I can disconnect from the pc from one iPad then reconnect from the other iPad. Excellent and most appreciated.

I do the Apple store updates and on one iPad Remote Desktop did not update properly. I too had the experience in adding the username or modifying it there was no keyboard. The solution was to delete the app and reinstall it starting over recreating all the profiles again. Lucky for me only 3 computers.

Annoying mouse feature. It was on by default, I don’t have a mouse on the iPad. Was able to figure it out. It would be nice to merge the 2 separate areas that you have for editing the setting profiles for the PC. My guess a work in progress. Nice to have mouse control, I have very big thumbs at times.

Annoying scroll bubble that locks up and does nothing at times. Tricky to get rid of it. Sometimes toggling the magnifier or the 2 arrow button or the keyboard button. Used for navigation when you magnify.

Cannot log into VMware VMs. You can click into the password box and bring up the Remote Desktop keyboard but nothing goes into the box. Touch works just not the keyboard.

Thank you Microsoft, I really do like the app and highly recommend it to anyone who has an iPad and needs to control their PC. For me the app is stable does what I need it to do, playing music and watching videos. Thank you for making it free and updating it and providing support.

RD Client has stopped working since upgrade to iPadOS 13.5

I used this app happily for mobile access to servers for more than a year but it suddenly stopped working when iPad recently updated. It does not connect at all and the error is the same as if I was not on the same network as my servers which I confirmed I am.

May 31: Now, it support apple magic keyboard but unfortunately it still doesn’t support right click on magic mouse 2!!!!, however, right click is supported on magic keyboard trackpad. Please fix this issue.

May 05: I’m a fan of Microsoft software however, I’m wondering why it doesn’t support Apple magic mouse.

I as an engineer and PM can not use microsoft remote desktop without mouse (I have to use the mouse for all the engineering software).

I think it would be so easy for Microsoft teem to add this feature.

Please allow to put the computer into sleep when not used, to save the energy, save the world. An extra option to set MAC for WOL is awesome! This is just a tiny feature, please add it.

Overall Works Well but a few issues.

1. The experience on my iPad Pro is very good. I just recently got the magic keyboard and can’t wait till they update so I can use the trackpad more effectively.

2. One Issue I get is session timeout when I leave the app to to another app. It only stays active for about a minute and I then have to log in again. I have searched solutions but cannot seem to locate any? Any help would be desired.

Super but WhatsApp about mouse contrôle

Good app but how come on my iPad when I use a mouse, I have 2 pointer - one for the mouse and one from the Remote Desktop? To work with the mouse or the touch screen, I have to touch the pointer of the Remote Desktop and make it glide to where I want. Not really practical...

Why version 10 limited to iOS 13+?

Not everyone can get it, my tablet is not compatible with this version, which prevent me for ever using it now. Why not keep compatibility with at least iOS 12, even at cost of a few features for those users, it at least we could use it to access our PCs without the need to buy a new device? (Unless Microsoft is open to offer me a new device for free)

Just Amazing

This is a highly underrated app. I use it to access and manage my home server running Windows on from my iPhone, MacBook and desktop PC. It's snappy, borderline native as if I'm running Windows on my machine and not across the network, and highly simplified to get the job done. I think a lot of people complaining either don't know how to set it up correctly (perhaps the app can help users walkthrough this in a future update), are using one too many VPNs, or have a complicated network setup. If you do it right, this free app is magic.

Doesn’t work on iOS 12, no support for modern iPhones

No longer available in App Store for iPad Mini 2, still doesn’t support the screen size of the iPhone XS Max a year and a half after release. This app is super out of date.

Screen calibration

After the new update, the mouse is not calibrate to my huge monitor. I can say the mouse doesn’t do anything in 20% of the right screen, it goes there but you can’t do any clicks. Needs fix

Works very well

I was afraid to try it because of all the bad reviews but it works just fine on my ipad connecting to my Windows 10 pro that I have installed on my server. I think people are trying to get it to work on Home versions or without any knowledge of networking whatsoever so they just give it bad review. Obviously you have to not only activate the remote desktop feature and select which user can access it but make sure your Windows firewall allows this as well. Try it from a PC first and if it works then use this app.

I give it 4 stars because of the mouse; would be simpler to have a click with finger or pen and sometimes I double click and it interprets right click. Otherwise great!

Ipad Pro 11” finally supported!

Version 10.0.3 finally supports the Ipad Pro 11” aspect ratio! Also, Alt-Tab is now properly handled, so overall I am very happy with this update.

Haven’t tried it very long so I don’t know if there are any remaining issues, but so far so good. Thank you for listening Microsoft!

Huge update!

Seems like i’m getting a much cleaner connection now. The addition of being able to switch between mouse and touch is incredible! I hated trying to touch small icons on the desktop. Great for remoting into my work PC when I need to check something quick

Between user accounts, network folders, Remote Desktop client, home group, and a host of others, you have made a relatively simple procedure into the most complicated and worthless set of actions. Do you not know that Chrome Remote Desktop will always work? It never cares if it’s Win10 Home or Pro, even.

Connections occasionally lock up while in a remote session and have to force close and re open. (On iOS 13.3) - iPhone X.

keyboard entry doesn’t work...

I was trying to connect to a Virtualbox VM on a server using it’s RDP port. It seems to connect fine, enter works, the mouse moves, bit I can’t type any letters or numbers!

Used to be a great app.

What did you guys do? The previous version was flawless. No connection issues, no bugs, it just worked. You upgraded to this and it’s utterly useless. It hangs, it drops connections, and it glitches out. It’s almost unusable. Get your stuff together Microsoft.

This app used to work great. Then Microsoft started tinkering with it. Now it is constantly crashing or just giving a black screen when connected. Seriously, re-releasing the app as it was a year ago would be an upgrade.

As usual MS took a perfectly good product (the previous RD Client) and ruined it with the new version. The Press/hold right mouse click function is missing, rendering a remote connection nearly useless to do work with.

This app works great on Standard iPad and Standard iPhone XR.

On the iPad Pro, I am having issues in the bottom right of the screen where the mouse icon doesn’t select the item it is over top of.

Don’t update!

I did a regular update on the app and found that it deleted all of the setup connections I had in the previous version. There is no place to back them up or mention in the install notes that it would wipe them out.

Just upgraded to the new version on my iPhone and my iPad. iPhone seems ok, but all of my connections, gateways and other settings are gone from my iPad. Not looking forward to recreating all of this. Thanks Microsoft!
