Why does the system not show the amount transferred from one account to another account like the old app?

Bad UX

This is exactly what happens when you hire figma pixel pushers to solve a user experience problems in a mobile app that was already working just fine. undoubtedly people do not like this new app. It's got shiny new UI but didn't solve any of the user experience problems it should have and introduced new ones. For example Too much information is now being conveyed causing information overload thus making it a chaotic experience to navigate between screens. I can forgive the bugs on release but the cognitive overload with clunky UI as the cherry on top created a headache inducing experience. More user research is needed.

Buggy and slow - not ready for production

Downloaded new app this afternoon and immediately found it slower than the prior version. Closed the app and restarted it, and the old app reloaded and prompted me to download the new app again. Also tried to add a memo to a scheduled transfer but I can’t save just that modification. Should have had more user input and QA before release.

It’s not as bad as people are making it out to be

I was super hesitant to move to this version of the app given the reviews. I’m sure it was bad before all the bug fixes that are pretty common on newly released apps. That being said - with this being a financial institution, the release was incredibly sloppy and unprofessional in my opinion.
The app itself isn’t bad, once I got used to where everything is, I’d say it’s actually EASIER to sift through transactions compared to the old app. The silver animations do make it look cheap and childish, they’re unnecessary. This is a banking app.
I am loving the way things have been sorted though. I also like that deposits and withdrawals are now colour coded.
Overall, terrible release strategy but the app is pretty solid.

Bad UX on iPad

An app that does not switch to horizontal view (especially when the old version did) should never have been released.
The previous accounts screen automatically separated accounts by relationship. The new version does not; more importantly, it does not allow me to sort the accounts into an order that works for me. Small checkmark for allowing account nicknames.
I went into the messages window twice. Both times I was trapped there. No way to return to the home screen.
It appears that the developer does not understand the importance of QA and User testing. I’ll volunteer for the latter!

Wish I could backswipe

For some reason you can’t swipe from the side of the screen to go back like you can with every other iPhone app. Means you have to use two hands so you can tap the unreachable back button in the top left corner of the screen.

Three steps forward two steps back

Some neat new features but not the massive improvement promised. Major issue with the loss of quick view option. Home Screen shows account types I don’t and will never have so why am I seeing borrowing and investing but can’t see both my credit cards without expanding the section. Not a great start

Prefer the old app which had its own issues

Majority of the time the app won’t even open, I get an alert saying the app is not compatible on my device. I’ll try to use the old app and it just sends me to the AppStore and the cycle starts again 🙄
The few times I have been able to use it, the app seems slower than the old one, clunky and takes more steps/clicks to do complete tasks. An app needs to allow you to complete tasks quickly and simply. This one does not seem to do that.

Ugh…have had nothing but problems. The VC IT person even spent more than an hour trying to get things working as they should to no avail. VC it’s time to bring back the old app until you can remedy the issues with this one

Visual design is so strange and UX is really not good

Vancity’s website brand is warm, youthful, trendy. Whaaat is going on with their app’s visual design. The typography is garish, the black text on dark backgrounds is not adhering to WCAG, the weird liquid metallic icons are out of the early days of the web and not in a fun retro way, the colour palette is so so strange and absent of any basic colour theory. Y’all need a UI or visual design specialist onboard. Don’t leave this up to your UX folks.

Its complicated to find some options

The new designs looks pretty, but it's take too much time to open. something it's not easy to find some options you have to look for longer than expected. There is some option you have to look for longer like pay bills the update the address and manage Visa cards. if you look to the RBC and TD bank apps they looks very simple and it's easy to find some options such as: Pay bills do e-transfers. Update address and set up for direct deposit.

Adults made this?!

So, I can’t log in to the mobile app or the website now even though one of the screens gives me a choice e between this new “experience” and the “current” version, which still just takes me to a screen that only lets me use the new app if I install it, so why not just make it an update to the app? User reviews suggest a severe lack of testing, so I don’t have confidence with this new interface and my banking info that I apparently have to set up all over again? I hope Vancity’s staffed up to handle the influx of issues! Because I’ll be back in line waiting to speak to a teller. Oh, I’ll just let those e-transfers languish in limbo until this new app goes through proper testing and gets better user feedback (or are we the beta testers?)

Getting used to the new lay out, no complaints except the fact quick view is gone as an option? Now when I’m out shopping, I have to continually login to manage my money and make sure I don’t over spend. Almost worth switching banks over.

Fail

Terrible and complicated changes. Way harder to read and navigate. The opposite of progressive or simplified. Have made all details more difficult to understand and takes double the time to do anything as format seems to be designed by a robot and not a creative visual human. Major downgrade from the old app which most of us were still getting used to. Unnecessary changes being made by a bank that used to be for the people and now seems to put its money into everything but helping them. Too many steps and options asked to do simple tasks making it difficult when it doesn’t have to be. Color separations removed and font minimized all add to less legible banking. Absolutely horrible and blatantly moronic. Why are we paying fees to graphic designers who don’t need to change something that was previously successful? 30 years with a bank and it’s only going downhill really sucks!

Don’t bother!

This app is absolutely horrible. Sending e-transfer doesn’t allow for the other party to receive auto even if the have it set up plus when you send an e-transfer the confirmation has minimal information to show what the transaction actually was, eg the amt sent etc Also it’s glitches constantly and just plain and simple is NOT user friendly. I’m hoping I can still use the previous app as this one will cause me to close my account as I heavily rely on the app for many day to day banking needs, I will have to move on to another bank.

Stuck in “Updating”

I would love to try out the new app. From the screenshots, t looks like it is modern and updated and comparable to other banking apps… I have entered all the information correctly and my screen is purple with a gear faded out and on top a moving circle indicating loading or updating and the app is stalled.

Can’t view credit card transactions like before

Aside from the clunky design and moving everything, it’s actually very concerning that I can’t automatically view my credit card transactions like with the previous app- it looks like I either have to view my statements or log in to the Vancity visa site separately which is a weird extra step. This should get fixed- I also think users should have the option to use the old app instead of making them delete it, huge fumble overall. It makes me want to switch banks- the credit card interest is way too high anyways!

Complete Downgrade

Just to name a few problems, there is no Quickview and it is 50% slower than the previous app. It glitched and double sent a transfer that I cannot get back. Inconsistent biometrics. There are little to no advantages with this version. Absolutely useless POS app. The old one is superior in every measurable way.

Not intuitive

I miss the old app. It wasn't perfect but it was easier to navigate than the current version. It took me way too long to work out how to pay my credit card bill.
Today I got an error saying my phone wasn't compatible with the app. Had to uninstall the app, switch my phone off and on, and then reinstall the app to get it to work again.

Unacceptable app change.

This new app worked for me for about a week, but now it has started to say “Alert: Your device is not compatible with this application.” every time I try to open it. That is unacceptable. I am using a fully up-to-date iPhone 13, which I have never had any problems with until now.
I am lucky to be living at home currently and not have to worry about this stalling important payments, but this cannot continue to happen.
Fix this app, or bring back the old one. Enough.

Why change what wasn’t broken?

Unnecessary change of app. It’s definitely more confusing, has a lot going on and colour changes to parts of the screen when at certain parts of a transaction. I’m not old but I believe the older generation who may have figured out the old app are going to have a lot of problems using this one.
I think it was an uneccessary change to what worked just fine and was pretty much the same. Just had less visual effects……

No Quickview

This is not a good update. The app takes longer to load, it is more clicks and slower, the account info on the home page is so big that it doesn’t display many accounts at the same time and there is no quickview of accounts, at least that I have found. Bring back the old app!

Modern but Difficult

I can easily say that this was Vancitys worst update. the more modern part was great, although the app I find is more difficult to use, I don’t know where things are, and it feels inconsistent and inconvenient rather than easier like they preached. I feel there’s so much they can take out to make it more simple and easy to use. The old app was way more easy to use and operate!

Old App Better

Not a fan of the new app. First they took away the Quick Access Feature which I love. The layout & font are not appealing and the functionality is more confusing. The old app was so much easier to read and use so I’m not sure why this is an improvement? Never had any issues before. Newer isn’t always better.

Not loving it, to be honest! Some of the UI changes are nice but the quickview is a major loss. It also takes noticeably longer to load and switch between areas of the app, plus the loading animation is one of the clunkiest things I’ve ever seen.

Why?

I’m sure we’ll have to wait a while for the iPad version to grow up from a little iPhone one I have to play with now. Colours are a matter of taste, of course, but purple and whatever kind of pink it is? It’s hideous. And drop down menus… why? Vancity’s desktop version site and app were the easiest and visually pleasing financial sites I’ve used. What was wrong with them? Why?

Actually just garbage

Probably the worst thing to happen this year. You guys shut down the old app and site and replaced it with something that can’t do basic banking tasks. Did anyone even test run this thing? Or did you guys wanna do the whole new year new me ordeal without checking if the new you was better? Maybe some things shouldn’t be left in the past if the future has more inconveniences. Anyway this app sucks, that’s about it. And if this thing doesn’t run smoothly in a few days I’m switching banks

Less Than Impressed

I have been a Vancity member since the late 1970’s. Over the past 40 some odd years I have been a witness to VanCity’s technological growth. Some of it good, some of it not so good. This new app falls into the latter. It is cumbersome. I already miss the Home Screen that displayed the account balances of your three chosen accounts. The rest of the app is humdrum. Whatever happened to the “KISS” principle? Why do “New and Improved” upgrades do anything to actually improve on the previous that most users are used to? Why not improve the back end and leave the customer facing product alone? I believe, imo, most users would prefer that.

How can you go from bad to worse?

The UI is subpar. Colour scheme is hideous. Functionality is not complete. Preferences and settings are not carried over. And is oddly suspicious / funny when most reviews are either 1 star (non-staff) or 5 star (staff). After waiting years for this and likely spending 10’s of millions of dollars on this app - what a disgrace. Anyone involved in this pink abomination should be fired -_-. The whole thing feels like a web portlet - do better Vancity!!

Terrible

I do my banking on an ipad and this app can’t rotate to landscape. Yike! Who approved this garbage? It also looks like it was created by someone with no design sense: it’s an ugly, bland, mostly colourless layout. A white background with black text, no colourful icons or other features to draw your eye. Don’t you just love it when so called “improvements” are anything but?

Loading screen stuck

Can’t even sign in. Just stuck on the swirling “Loading…” screen after entering my login info. I’ve tried background closing the app and reopening but even after waiting 5 mins it won’t load.

NOT AN “Enhanced” Experience

This app is way worse than the one it replaces. Everything takes more clicks to perform the same function. The cheque deposit function used to work great, now it is unusable. I guess they want us to go to the ATM for that. Terrible!

Does not accommodate screen rotation

I use landscape orientation and find it ridiculous that I have to do everything at a 90 degree angle. Wtf! This isn’t rocket science kids. Fix this bug or give me the old app back. Proof that “progress” is nonlinear… sometimes goes in retrograde. Can’t wait till I have to fumble through a cheque deposit. 🙄
And it would be great if there was some feedback other than an AI bot thanking me for my input and suggesting that someone in IT might look at it.

A few first impressions as I use the new app: there are too many fonts. Times New Roman doesn’t work well for the app. I would stick to two fonts max, and more Helvetica style not times. I love times for a printed doc but not on an app. The silver graphics look really cheap and not good enough resolution. I would just scrap them though. Really the new app looks too “homemade” and cheap vibes. Really not a fan. The last app looked much more professional.

Cheque deposit thru the app is so clumsy

The old app was great and fast in cheque deposit, easy and simple. The new app requires you to write that statement to deposit my account, making me going back and forth to check I am writing my account number correctly. And then after that it keep saying the amount I entered does not match the amount on the cheque. The cheque is a rent cheque from my tenant for 3 years and I had never had any issue with his handwriting cheque when depositing. Quite disappointed with the new app.
