Loved the game before the new update. It was well balanced before. Now the only way to progress is to either loose and play endlessly, or make purchases.

Well that sucks
Enjoyed about 30min of play and now the game “fails to connect” no matter what I do. Uninstall/reinstall, let it sit there for 15 min, close app swipe it away and then reopen.
I like the game, but please explain the loading issue

Highly addictive game with great graphics.
I have this game installed on two different iPhones, one more recent, more memory etc, and both crash about the same amount. i’d say it performs slightly better on my iPhone 14.
Otherwise, I’m hooked, which makes crashing moments painful. :)
Updating this review to five stars despite some crashing.
Truth is, this game can be playable to the end without having to pay for special upgrades. I was also able to get to “grandmaster/challenger levels” keeping a very small footprint of a castle.
Definitely take advantage of the video ads to build up your army. After a while you don’t really need the ads to stay on top of your competitors, but still very very useful and fun. Anyone with any budget can play this game and win.
