Can’t log in
I can log into this app but can’t log in to their website. It always tells me “unavailable “. When I approached CR about this I couldn’t believe their sour attitude. I’m not renewing.

Okay if you can find anything
Maybe it is because I live in Canada, but I am rarely able to find products that are available to me rated by CR. I bought a year subscription, but won’t be renewing.

Can’t login
Starting in May 2022, can’t login into the app anymore. Keeps telling me the password/user name is wrong even though I can still log into their website. Multiple attempts at changing password made no difference. Plus support hours are limited to their standard business hours. Damn poor customer service solution and not customer centric. Read another review with the same problem. The only solution they offered was to reset the password. Great, because of course, that doesn’t work 🙄🤬.

Username / Password work on site but not app
My UN/PW work on the website, but won’t work in the app. Tech support asked me to log into both. One worked the other didn’t. Their only solution was to reset the PW. I actually did that earlier, but of course it didn’t work.

4 Stars for One Reason
And that reason is their outdated app, very inefficient navigation and search bar needs lots of work to come up to a modern standard. Also, you can’t copy text from the app, if you want to check prices on other stores.
Apart from that, CR is my go to for product reviews and testing.

Best advice you can get
I am a long-time member of CU going back to the print-only days. We consult their advice before making any important purchase. They have never let us down. My only wish is that the Canadian content would be restored.

Way too expensive for my needs.
Would like to be able to access this once in a blue moon.
Might subscribe for $10/yr but not $10/month.
I guess if you buy a lot of items it would be worth it.
I’m just going to find someone who subscribes to the Magazine & borrow it.

My go to for before buying
While I don’t always completely agree with all their ratings, I always look up their opinions and ratings on things I’m in the market to buy. They are very good at weeding out the stuff NOT to buy and then their reviews give me a range to compare and compromise on.

Great advice but Many of your links to Canadian websites bring us to the US sites and the cost is sadly never Canadian. Sometimes the product is not even available in Canada.

The critics need more criticism
For a company that spends all of his time judging other peoples products. They should really spend some time studying their app. This app doesn’t even work on the iPad ,it’s just the iPhone version resized won’t even do landscape mode. And there’s no handling of the subscription through Apple services. So I have to log onto their website and create an account and then log in through the lame app. Really dumb

Useless used vehicle info
Let’s just say that this app is NOT for the research nerd. Here’s an example of why.
I use Consumer Reports almost entirely for used vehicle research. Back in the day, I used their Annual Auto Issue in magazine format and now I’m subscribed to them online and used only their desktop/laptop version before downloading this app. I was used to finding reliability ratings for each major component of a make/model/year of vehicle (assuming enough user data) and assumed that this app would have the same level of detail. Instead, this app only gives a summary, like “Far above average” and an owner satisfaction in percent, like “77%”.
On my recent search for a used vehicle, I actually not only had to go through the hassle of bringing my laptop along, but also the hassle of connecting to a wifi hotspot to look up info that actually matters to me, like trouble spots for engine, transmission, electric and climate systems, etc. instead of being able to find them in this app.
In other words, this app is completely useless to me in terms of detailed vehicle research. As a paid subscriber, there should be a version of this app that has such details. If I had to pay for this version, you can be sure that I’d be using whatever means possible to tell people that it’s absolutely not worth their money – but it’s not even worth the time I took to download it and try it out in the first place.

Not impressed with the app
Very limited in product choice and information. I also do not like the forced viewing in portrait mode. I find that accessing via my browser is much more informative and easier to navigate. I see no value in the app and will remove it as it is consuming cpu resources.

Basic function and info
Website has way more info than the app. Very disappointed in its simplicity, Altho it works well enough. I’d like more comparison and sorting features in the ratings like in your magazine. I don’t mind scrolling around to see the comparison.

Car buying guide
Miss the detail and hindsight of the car buying guide. Most people are not in a position to buy brand new cars and the info on used cars would be much more useful for them than the new cars. Also not as much useful info now that it’s been rolled into the main ratings app. Please bring back the previous years models ratings.

Not for profit company but not a free app
As mentioned in the title the company is non profit but the app still requires monthly or yearly subscriptions in order to gain any information. If you purchase an item through one of their links they receive commission from the seller. You’d think this would cover costs of their simple business, but it doesn’t. I’d rather see some advertisements than pay monthly fees. Unfortunately I’m more of a try before you but kind of guy, not vise versa. App deleted.

Nice to have ratings on-hand anywhere, some categories lack in-depth reviews (like air purifiers) and there are no articles.

Unbiased results
The app has worked as expected without crashes though the many iterations since my membership began 3 years ago.
The service of course is where the value is and the app comes in handy when researching the choice of our commuter car; while indispensable when you need to select another brand of toilet paper if your preferred choice is out of stock.
It's a trusted resource without bias for brands. The selection and rankings are backed by scientific data and on someone's subjective opinion.

Waste of time and money
In my opinion, this was a waste of money and time. I wanted to get the information on a bunch of different products and once I purchased the app I found none of the products I was looking for! Not one! I looked through the rest of their reports and they have very few products in each category. Don't waste your money.
