One of the Best??? Not likely
Entirely disappointed. Purchased this TP (does that stand for toilet paper?) Link based upon Consumer Reports ratings. It said this was one of the best.
The router is so slow. And TETHER? It took forever to load so I could leave this crappy review!
I will be seeking reimbursement.

Knows I have internet- will not connect to it.
Finds my router, says it knows my router has 4 bars, will NOT connect to router.
After many attempts useing all three set up configurations. Wasted 3 hours. Very very disappointed.

Not able to hide/broadcast router name through tether; not able to add managers though it may add tplink ID of another router. Not able to set schedule for router wireless operation through tether. Not much can be done through tether except to view operation and change password

Why do I need to make an account for this? That’s ridiculous and invasive. Figuring I’d at least use it to set things up I tried to make an account. No activation email. Guess that’s a sign not to bother. I’m returning this range extender to amazon. I’ll buy another brand.

Works fine. Could use more features though.
I used it for a quick setup via my iPhone. I haven't used it remotely, just local device. And, it seems to be working fine. I would like these features though:
- Setting time;(NTP)
- Option to enable Guests to see each other, cuz I use Guest Account for my ioT devices(Apple tv, Chrome Cast), and they need to see each other in order to work. I like to keep those stuff on a separate network. Otherwise, they break ur main network. 🌚
- The Help section could use a black font for the content. It's hardly visible.
P.S. The Parental Feature is useless. There should an option to allow all websites, so the timing schedules can work. Also, other devices on the network can't access the internet even when not in Child List.

You won’t regret it
My whole 100 x 300 yard now has wifi. Ran a cable from my Bell MTS (Manitoba) router you my sunroom. Set up this router in 20 minutes. I use the 2.4 channel and my wife uses the 5 (her favourite number) and my kids are stuck with the signal from the original router. This app is a great addition to an already satisfying investment. I can see what devices are using my wifi.

I live in a condo and steal my wifi from my grandmother next door. My wireless printer is in my spare bedroom and it is the furthest you can go from the router in my unit. After reading reviews posted in tech magazines, I bought this booster from Amazon.

I shouldn’t have to sign up
In previous versions of this app I didn’t have to create an account. This was great for privacy and ease of use.
Now I’m forced to create an account and agree to new usage and privacy policies just to manage my home router? That’s ridiculous.

Doesn’t work with a VPN
This is a very useful app to control who uses Wifi. Unfortunately it won’t connect with the router when you’re using a VPN.

Don’t install latest update!
The latest update force you to register and sign in to their account, effectively defeating any effort to keep your system contained and private. Just imagine you don’t have internet at the moment or just don’t want to and you can’t access your own router in your local network. Let alone that, despite what all big corporations claim, there’s no warranty that your information will remain private. It’s just nonsense and not appreciated at all.
It was a very simple, but effective and practical app that let you administer your router remotely. Now I have to do it directly from a computer or through the router webpage, which is a bit of a step backwards in my opinion. Uninstalled and won’t be using this anymore until they remove that. Ahh, and also the inability to be used in landscape mode on an iPad is like stupid nonsense in my opinion. I’m deeply disappointed.

Needs more improvements
Pros:
1. The app is simple and the interface is good.
2. Sharing connection through barcodes is wonderful.
Cons:
1. The iPad interface portrait mode is not comfortable and the app needs to support landscape mode as most people hold it this way.
2. More of the router options available through the browser could be simply added to the app which makes it better and complete.

Good device, poor app
My TP-Link RE650 device has improved my wireless connectivity tremendously, but this tether app needs a LOT of work!
I didn’t try using it for setup but as a management & status tool, its problems include:
A. Inaccurate client information and no ability to force an update; I knew my phone was connected yet it didn’t show on the client list. When I logged into my RE650 directly via its IP, the info was accurate and complete, unlike the tether app.
B. Doesn’t provide critical client information. For example, why isn’t each client’s reported signal strength or negotiated protocol provided? Such information is easily available and would be instrumental in finding the ideal device placement and configuring aspects like the optimum security protocol.

It’s okay
Simple app to setup and list router users/devices but that’s about it.
No scheduling or usage reports. Just block or unblock devices and no notification if unknown device tried to access.
Once setup, no real reason to use the app.

When I connect to my router and run a speed test, I get roughly 100mbs. When I use this thing, I get 2-3mbs. I can’t seem to improve this.

Today I was told to do an update. I updated it and now I can’t log in cause it says “its no longer shared with me and I must buy it”. No option to even buy it. So I just keep getting booted out. Horrible horrible update!

Easy setup but crashes
Honestly, the app needs a couple bug fixes. I gave priority to a device and my internet crashed.
There aren’t many options on the app unfortunately so if you need to port forward/trigger, you have to do it the old fashion way using a default gateway.
I really don’t like the 2 month subscription thing for the QoS, parental controls and security. These features should be lifetime just like ASUS and other brands.

Best router application ever!!
Your app is awesome I’ve had a few routers and apps to control them and yours is by far the easiest one I’ve used from setting up, parental controls, setting time frames and also the amount of hours my teenage boys can have online. I also love that we can control the internet from anywhere we are. Thank you, keep up the good work.

Impossible to connect: Instructions to install and connect are confusing and not helpful, primarily because of Grade 4 vocabulary, syntax, grammar and especially spelling in both English and French! Try harder to be clear, please !

Always saying not logged in
Always saying not logged in when I’m logged in. The app worked good before I did the update. Now I cannot use it. The router still works but I have no control over it.
