WHAT TO EXPECT:
This incredibly scenic drive will no doubt be a highlight of your tour in the Canadian Rockies. It has been voted the World’s Most Beautiful Mountain Drive. You can drive the Icefields Parkway in either direction.
Along the way, we’ll point out the must-do stops of the drive, as well as places that you may want to explore if you have lots of time. Be amazed by the incredible mountains, brightly coloured lakes and glaciers that line the western side of the road.

This tour starts at the Highway 1 exit onto 93N (Icefields Parkway) outside of Lake Louise. Join 93N from Jasper by driving south from the town. Its is popular to do this tour as a day trip by driving from Banff or Lake Louise to the Columbia Icefields Centre and back.

Download the app on Wi-Fi from your network at home or use any free Wi-Fi network. Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. Many phone/data networks may block the download because of size - so it's important to download over a Wi-Fi network.
CHARGING:
++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charge to keep your phone charged, and avoid charging through the USB port.
AUDIO:
Listen directly from your phone or connect to the car stereo via Bluetooth. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle as this can cause audio issues. The audio can play through your car’s Apple CarPlay and Android Auto display, please note that the map will display only on your phone.
IPADS:
** iPad models must include a GPS chip. Please note only the iPad Wi-Fi + Cellular models of iPad contain a GPS chip. Wi-Fi-only iPad models have limited location service capabilities and are unable to play commentary automatically.
DOWNLOADING:
The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must download the app ahead of time over Wi-Fi (recommended) or cellular data. Once downloaded, you can tour offline without cell service.

Jasper to Lake Louise
Great way to learn more about what you see from your car. Narrator only talks when there is something interesting to say. Makes great suggestions of where to stop to look at something. Really glad we found this app. It made the trip so meaningful!

We bought the Canadian Rockies app bundle for our trip from Calgary through Banff and Jasper. It was SO worth it! So many interesting facts and great places to stop and visit. I appreciated that the app let us know which stops were considered must do and which were not and how much time we’d likely spend at each one. I would highly recommend this app especially if you don’t feel like doing a lot of pre-planning!

Holy crap this is a great guide!
It’s like riding on a guided tour bus! He knows everything you’re passing, has stories about history, geology, sights, attractions, viewpoints...and stories about all of them.
I wish one of these were available for every trip and route I take. I’d never have to say “oh, I wish I’d known about that” after my trip was over.

Banff, Ice fields and Lake Louise
Fantastic app and so precise. We passed a fork in the road with a tree and the narrator told a story as we passed it. He also uses humour with his stories and facts. Well worth the minimal cost.

Awesome app
Great app. Used it for Yoho park and it is totally worth it. We would have skipped Yoho altogether and go straight to the icefields. With the suggestions of the narrator, we went and don't regret a bit of it. It was fantastic. Gave us informations that a tour guide would have provided us with and brought our attention to things we would have missed. Awesome.

Awesome App!
We used this app while driving through the park from Jasper to Lake Louise . It was so informational . We really enjoyed it. It was not only educational giving explanation and history of the area as your driving but it gave you the heads up of what was coming up the road. What things you really don't want to miss and what things were interesting but not a huge deal if you did miss . Also gave description of how far and hard of a hike a trail was ect. And the narrator was entertaining too! Another great thing is that you can download this on your phone and you don't need cel service for it to work. Which is a good thing because there is no service all through the park . Worth every penny ! Please make more of these apps for traveling .

Excellent
One of the best Apps I have ever purchased. My family and myself drove from Calgary through the Rocky Mountains up to Jasper. It was as if we had a personal tour guide with us on our trip. Even when the tour guide told us to "keep an eye out for mountain goats", they appeared right where the guide said they would be as if on cue. We definitely will buy more of these guides when we go on other vacations. Well done!

Personal tour guide
The app worked great, like having your own personal guide. It came on automatically (used Ipad with cellular) and switched easily from our music playlist to the commentary when we came to one of the tour points. We only had to reboot the app once after a stop at a rest area and it quickly picked up where we left off.
The commentary was informative and entertaining. Well worth the purchase.

This app is great. It made for a very nice drive from Jasper to Lake Louise. It would be nice to see more tours of areas in the Rockies. There is a lot to see and do. Make more of them!

Doesn't work
This is the same review I've posted for all versions I bought. I downloaded this as opposed to renting the actual Gypsy guide and I regret it. It was supposed to automatically acknowledge the selected path once you drove past the 'start point' but it didn't. I was able to play the points manually but had to guess where they were. Not to mention the danger of taking you eyes off the road to play them manually. I bought all the ones associated with Banff/Jasper national parks and it was a complete waste of money.

Same info, not as accurate as should have been
I really enjoy using gypsy guide (I have rented them before the app was available). I was disappointed that the ice fields parkway tour and Banff, lake Louise, yoho tour had the same information on them. I would have liked to have heard some new facts. Also the woman speaking on the tour at times talks like she is talking to a child. A more "grown up" tone of voice would have been appreciated. Some pull-outs and landmarks were on the opposite side of the road than what the tour said, making us miss some as we were looking for a pullout on the left and drove past the one on the right, not finding one on the left up ahead.
