Every time I try to line up a walker the app puts my general location in the opposite side of the city. I’ve had to dog walkers cancel last minute when they find out where I live, I’ve triple checked my address and postal code I entered on the app and it’s still misleading about where I live

Rover is a great company and the app has improved over the time I’ve had it. For Rover cards for booked walks, an Apple Watch version would be AMAZING!! To easily start the card from my watch would allow me and my furry clients to get out of the house sooner for their exercise!

Customer support for sitters is absolutely rubbish. I was walking a dog I had been given for the day and the owner neglected to warn me that they could get violent. After encountering another dog and freaking out she bit my thigh. Accidents happen, but when I called the emergency hotline it was clear that the sitter’s well being was not at all taken into account and no compensation whatsoever offered.
Profits > well being of the dogs (ie. how they make their money) > well-being of the sitter
Rover, you should do better by:
1. Vetting dogs and their owners more thoroughly
2. Have a plan and offer support to sitters in case of liability issues
We are just as much as a user of your platform as are the owners. Kind of ridiculous that I had to deal with the whole incident myself. You’re democratizing dog care, so you should provide assistance to those you’re hiring.

Rover lets me make my own schedule, and it helps me make a bit of extra money while I am in school studying. It’s perfect for me too because I love walking dogs without getting paid already! Only Roger takes a large portion of the amount I charge, and the competition of sitters in my area makes the earning low for my time on this app.

The app is mostly intuitive, but I really wish I could search for a sitter/ service provider by their name instead of just by geographical area. I get that the business should be for whatever is in your neighbourhood and convenient, but when we get referrals from friends or past clients, it’s impossible to find them on the app unless you already know exactly where they live. Also love to dog walk as a lunch break for people who live near my office, but it’s difficult for them to find me by referral unless they search for me in my own neighbourhood.

Easy to manoeuvre through, Ive always had great luck with the girls I’ve gotten. I have unusual pets so I’m pretty picky about who I chose to come into the house to take care of them.
Also their support team was great! I had trouble with my login and had to call twice, They were able to fix the problem asap!

It’s not worth your time if you’re not running a pet business. When you set your rates is not really clear that your services are paid daily and not hourly. I mean you can stay with a dog for 2 hours or spend 10 hours in a row with it and still get paid 20$.
If you run a business yes, it’s a good way to make money and get people in contact.

This app is a really good way to start up a reliable dog walking business. Informative, versatile and easy to use. The only down side to the app is that you have to pay 20% of your earnings to the Rover app itself. With the little amount you can charge for dog walking or any other service (especially when starting out) this can be a hindrance to people trying to maintain a lucrative side hustle. I understand why they charge a 20% commission off profits yet still, if you want to start a reliable side-job on Rover that makes you decent money be prepared to walk and house sit lots of dogs because the only way to make decent money is having lots of clients.

The fees are quite high. The client is charged a fee and a fee is taken from the sitter...so basically 2 fees are coming out of the clients pocket. This isn’t right. One fee would be sufficient.

I’ve been trying to send the owner a video but it can only be sent live with a 15 second limit. For anyone trying to capture great animal moments whether you are a wildlife photographer or a trained dog photographer It is really hard to do in one take. I’d rather be able to load a video clip that I’m lucky enough to capture.

Love the service!!! I’m using for the first time right now. My sitter is fantastic and I will definitely use the app and hopefully her again.
App could use improvement - things don’t disappear from pending even once turned down/concluded (and I can’t find a “delete” option), and the calendar should really show your bookings!
I also think it would be great if sitters could outline areas they are willing to travel to and you could filter by that - I had several conversations that wasted both my time and that of others as they weren’t able to travel to my area anyway.
I would also love to be able to tip. I think the idea here is that you review instead of tip to help your sitter get more business but I would love to do both.

Fees issue causes uneven competition

Service providers on this app have to pay fees from their income, there are people who signed up before 2016 and doesn’t have to pay any fees but there are other providers who have to pay 20% and 25% fee from their income. It should have the same fee for everyone instead of this varied rates because this uneven fees causes uneven competition.
There could be a provider who is cheaper(because they might not have to pay fee) but not good while there could be someone who has to pay 25% and has to increase their price due that but provides excellent services.

I used Rover to find a dog walker for my dog when he was a puppy in spring of 2018. After I had not used the dog walker for a few months I messaged him and asked for my apartments keys back. He said he did not have them because he ‘broke them in half’ to get rid of them. I was shocked not only that he destroyed my property, but I would be surprised if it was true, can you even break a metal key in half with your hands? Rover was extremely unhelpful, I asked them to pay to have my locks changed (for all I knew the dog walker still had my keys intact) and they refused. Will absolutely never use Rover again. Bad experience with the dog walker and horrific customer service from the company.

The delay in payment is a little much. The pet owner pays at the time of booking, yet the sitter doesn’t get paid until days after the booking is finished. Plus they charge fees. Sitter has done the work; why are they waiting 2-3 days for payment? If you are boarding in your home, it costs money to do so, it’s already not a money making business for the sitter—the delay makes it not worth it. Especially if you have your own clientele, they could pay the sitter directly a month in advance instead of everyone paying Rover for delayed payments and pretty much nothing otherwise!

This app is literally amazing! They screen very well for you to become a sitter for the app and it’s pretty simple to use!
However these are some things that could be changed to make it better!
-be able to view your own profile as others see it so you know how it looks!
-be able to set your pets you have to more than just cats and dogs (if someone has a hamster, bunnies, lizards, or fish etc that need feeding or playing too I’m totally down to do that! But there should be an option to add them as your pets and an option to show you’ll sit for them too!)
-In the calendar you can change how many of each service you can do that day but you can’t say what times you’d be available. If I could change the times for example on Monday I already work 8-3 so on that day I’ll say I’m available only available 3:30-10pm or something and I think it would be a lot easier to find sitters for your schedule as well as give us sitters an easier way to express it
All together it’s a great app but hoping they implement these in! ☺️
