Other one was better.

I don’t like the optics of the world view. It was better before. I live in Vancouver Canada on the west coast and I go to northern Saskatchewan in the summer. I like to check what it is like in both places. And I can’t see that. Like I could before. Very disappointing.

It's good again

A recent update changed the layout of the app and we lost some features.

Thankfully the app developer listened to our complaints and the missing features returned, the layout is stil new but it's still a really good app.

This newest update looks awful. It may seem more user friendly to new users but it didn’t take long to understand the app before and now it’s just tacky.

I used to use this app for the Auronowcast as well. Now that it is gone I have no use for it and no interest in the ridiculously priced subscription service.

It doesn’t even pick up on my location. So what good is it if it doesn’t know where I am? I am Deleting it and looking for a new better app.

Update Ruins App

The latest version 5.0 changes the interface considerably and ruins what was an excellent app. The map is useless and leaves you staring at the equator where there is no aurora, not at your home location. The POES images of the oval do not update. And the percentage estimate of aurora visibility is of questionable value and takes up too much screen real estate. I used to recommend this app; I can’t now. What are the programmers thinking? Implementing a poorly designed interface that doesn’t work.

Nice app - Don't pay extra for notifications!

The app works well as a reference tool, lots of good info there. I sprang for the notifications, and I have yet to ever receive one. Recently contacted them about it, waiting on a response still.

Very disappointed

Missed the biggest aurora in Banff Canada last weekend thanks to the app (showed activity of 4 instead of 7) and never updated to represent the change. One another time I missed a decent activity trusting the app... Maybe it is good for a moderate conference and the north? I am done. Now I am pretty disappointed and just deleted it to avoid the bitter aftertaste when I watch others photos from the activities I missed.

Don't update, I just did and now the app won't open. I tried deleting and reinstalling, but that did not help either. Crashy crashy. Unfortunate because it was good before that.

Push with any of them. The notifications are rarely useful, always late, and don't allow for prep.

The forecast function has been really good to me and the ability to display the info with local time makes me so happy

I paid the in app purchase for the alerts. Sad to say. I am NOT getting any. This is very frustrating. I have contacted the developer both by email and a Facebook message to no avail. Do I contact Apple for a refund? A shame, it looks so promising.

Useless app

I paid the $1.99 to get notifications of when there is a visible aurora in my area. I have not received any notifications but my sister-in-law who lives 5 mins from me has seen the aurora twice. Biggest waste of money.

Inaccurate

Right now Friday 10 April 2015 the app says for the next 4 nights it will be Kp 5,5,5,4 but in fact the other forecasts say 2,1,2,2 so this app never updates itself correctly. This is the second time that I'm getting fake Kp numbers, please fix this bug!!!!

Not working like it used to

I used to love this app but it does not work like it used to. It doesn't seem to update properly and I never get the alerts anymore. I have missed some excellent opportunities

Needs some tech support

The app would be everything I expected BUT the long term forcast only refreshes after there has been activity. I have now missed 2 active days because of this issue. Writing this review is the only way I'm hoping to make contact with support. Every time I have tried I am re routed to my Facebook page... Ugh. Would really like this issue fixed so I can try to catch some aurora activity this summer!

Unable to refresh in the last few days

The auroral ovation forecast has been stuck on Feb 13 2014. Unable to refresh. I believe I missed a rare sight in Vancouver on the 18th because of it.

This app is useless . As one who chased the lights over north and South America for years Ii find it of no help whatsoever. Alarms showing plots of force 9 & 10 with forecasts of low activity. I have never yet been able to use it to view an aurora.

Don't buy notifications

The notifications comes up very often with the alert you requested, but it is usually 5-10 days late. I want to be notified BEFORE, not after. A waste of money. It also seems to be bad at updating within the app. Just use the website.

Update: still have yet to fix the notify feature.

Nice idea, needs improvement!!

This app should use the iPhone's localization services to trigger alerts. Right now sends out alerts i.e. "for North America"... Yup, that is useless!! If it correctly displays my coordinates in the Map View, it should only send me alerts according to my geolocalization, I could not care less for "North America"... Also, it should compute dawn and dusk times according to localization. I do not like the current bunch of alerts at daylight, they are useless unless auroras are visible at daylight, which is rarely seen. Only one daylight forecast alert for that night if relevant for my localization will be enough.

Notification useless

Not very useful app. Long term forecast seems to be more or less ok but short term notifications are not worth the money as they are completely inaccurate and do not match the forecast issued by the Geophysical Institute Fairbanks. Check their website - way more accurate and free of charge!

Don't buy push

The app gives great information, but the push notification is absolutely useless! It constantly sends you notifications even though the actual intensity on earth is insignificantly low! Solar Monitor seams, even though more expensive, seems to be the better choice, if you want push notifications that works properly.
