Unreliable

Advertised as a Boyd option for your box. During periods of high demand the app frequently crashes with playback errors.

Additionally, it quickly becomes slow and freezes when scrolling channels which requires frequent system resets.

Was using the app to cast recordings to my tv while I waited for a replacement power cable for my tv box because that broke and I couldn’t watch anything. Constantly have to rewatch

It’s nice to be able to access TV from anywhere. But their fast forward restrictions are brutal. I understand not wanting to fast forward through commercials, but you cannot even skip ahead to the point of the show you have already watched, and have to rewatch sometimes up to an hour just to get to your previous spot. When a show does allow it, every time you skip ahead it forces a commercial, so you have to keep watching commercials over and over again until you can find the spot you left off on. Very poor design. Changing to 1 star, accidentally menu’d out of a 2 hour show with 10 minutes left. Now can’t watch the ending without watching the entire thing from the beginning. Figure it out.

When I use AirPlay on my TV using this app I select a channel and it puts me at a random time of the channel which makes me refresh it in order to catch up to live this is extremely frustrating especially with today’s technology it’s definitely something you can fix do better!

Great but buggy

I have used Telus streaming for a few years now, and I really love the experience. On the TV the app is quite buggy when it comes to the channel guide when you go to the channel.guide it doesn’t upload into real time it stays at the last place that you looked at it. The only way I can figure out how to get around that is to reboot the app which refreshes the guide. I do a lot of rebooting.

UPDATE: Years later and no changes. I feel like the developers actually don’t use this product.

I’ve never had more problems with an app than I’ve had with this one. Hands down, the worst app I’ve ever used. It freezes constantly, and won’t load properly. It’s garbage. If I could give it a zero, I would. When Pik TV became Telus TV+, I thought they had fixed the problems. Guess not.

Your AppleTV app is horrible. I have two issues. The past few days, when scrolling through channels, the list jumps back to yesterday at a different time. The other issue I have has always been a problem. When going back to the channel list at the top or bottom of the hour after a program ends, it goes to a different time and sometimes day as well. This app is only useful for setting up recordings. Try watching the news on a local mainstream channel (CTV, Global) and I get a message that my subscription doesn’t include these channels. Interestingly I can watch on my tv.

So Buggy

Latest version seems to have introduced more bugs than it’s fixed. Now I’m constantly logged out. To log in, requires accepting the “Allow TELUS TV+ to use your TELUS subscription” dialog a total of three times. At which point, it might stay logged in for maybe an episode, if I’m lucky. I don’t dare switch apps, either, because that will log me out, too, and then back to accepting the dialog three times again.

Great to be able to watch some channels on the iPad, thanks! Also love the recent PiP addition. However a recent update removed the ability to pinch-zoom to fill the iPad screen. Now black bars are a mainstay and couldn’t take full advantage of the 4:3 iPad screen. Hope the feature gets restored in an upcoming update. Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

From hero to zero

The old optic tv app was one of my favourite app. I can remotely record shows away from home. Watch tv on my older version iPads. Since Telus switched to this app, I can no longer able to record shows and my older versions iPads cannot download the older version of the update. Can anyone from Telus able to fix this bugs?

Not sure how that works but the updated app is complete garbage, not even sure where to start. The guide taking forever to load, the guide times being all wrong and not changing with the hour, the freezing. Needs to be force quit and restarted every time you use it or change a channel. No access to recorded shows. No Picture in Picture. Many channels that I pay for missing from the app. All other providers have these options on their streaming apps.

Drives me crazy…

Most the time if you watch part way through a show and navigate out of the app when you go back in you have to restart the episode with skip disabled! Drives me crazy! It constantly glitches if you leave the app and go back… you can wait minutes before it’ll quit buffering and pick up again. Also if you’re part way on the Optik TV and then go into the app you can’t pick up where you left off. Annoying!

The amount of times my on demand episodes restart or lag is unreal and frustrating. Terrible app considering what’s out there today. The app consistently times out and takes forever to load. I previously used Shaw and had none of these issues.....makes me think about switching back. Telus...step your game up!

Can’t log in

The site talks about all the improvements and I can’t log in through my Apple phone or iPads. I am using my MYtelus sign info as well but it doesn’t work. And I have searched high and low to find a fix - including deleting the app and reloading it a few times. But nothing works. Not much of a benefit if you can’t access it.
