This app has been absolutely garbage since the update. It has erased my book history of prior borrows and it’s deleted my bookmarks. I frequently max out my library borrows (20 at a time) and reading that many on the go, it’s incredibly hard to keep track where I am if the app doesn’t start where I left off. Be warned - screenshot where you are if you have to return before finishing.
It’s also crashing during audiobooks and when I reload, I’ll often be taken back an hour or more from where I left off.
It also no longer shows how many pages are left in a chapter. Kind of a minor annoyance but helpful to know if you can squeeze in another chapter before bed. Even the table of contents doesn’t list page numbers so you can’t get an idea that way.

It's not the book. It's the app. What devil was wrong with the old version. This one skips forward when swiping to turn a single page, constantly and irregularly. Sometimes by 5 pages or 10 or even 50. And you can no longer touch the centre to get the page count/slider to easily return to your place. At least yesterday's update replaced the lookup feature. What idiot deleted that? Do you not focus test with actual book readers?!
And the unique nickname requirement to send the message is ridiculous unless you're trying not to get real feedback.

I have had to delete this app twice now as it will work then all of a sudden won’t open. So I need to delete and reload. I love my books so when I am In the middle of one I need to finish, as a result while it works I love this app but when it won’t I hate it!!!

Ever since the update I can’t seem to see what’s left in a chapter or the page number coinciding with the chapter in the table of contents. I do however, like how we can suggest a book.

I used to love this app! With the latest updates though they got rid of the brightness adjustment capabilities and the night setting is so bright I cannot enjoy it at night anymore, it burn my eyes. So sad, I wish they’d change it back!!

I used to like this app. It had everything and worked reasonably well. Then a couple of weeks ago, they brightened the sepia tone removed the in-app ability to adjust screen brightness. I read at night and the app is glaringly bright, not at all what you want before heading to sleep. Please let us adjust the screen brightness again!

New update wont open. Just crashes on iphone. Yes my ios and apps are up to date.
A couple updates ago the brightness broke so now it is WAY too bright to read in dim light or at night. Useless for bedtime reading.
Last couple updates keeps losing my spot and not syncing between ipad and iphone properly.
And still: it doesn’t like working offline. If you have no internet for a short or an extended time ( rural location, wifi down, airplane) the app often deletes your books and/or refuses to let you read when offline. Whats the point of downloading the book if the app demands verification online before it allows reading?
This app leaves a lot to be desired. I wish my library had stayed with Overdrive. It at least worked.

Ever since the two most recent updates, the app has a number of glitches or deleted options which have decreased the usability.
1. In the middle of reading a book it will ask you if you want to continue from where you last left off. Continuously
2. The server will sometimes fail to load and you either won’t see your books or the app won’t load at all
3. The option to lock rotation was taken away and now if the app accidentally rotated, the night vision will kick out and that chapter will only be visible in white background unless the app is restarted

This was pretty good until the last update. Now it skips chapters when you flip a page. It has double the key strokes needed to mark a page and constantly loses your page. It takes a reload when you open in a different orientation, constantly asks if you want a previous page when you open a new book and is generally frustrating.

Reader used to have an in app brightness control in addition to iPhone general brightness. This was great for dimming the text while reading before sleep. Now that feature has been removed and text is too bright for nighttime reading before sleep.

Since the recent upgrade in the app, the book I’m reading doesn’t open to the last read page after a few hours of inactivity. I also get prompted too often to have the app open the book to the last read page, which is always incorrect, while reading. I’ve also had to close the app and reboot my device way too often to get the app working properly again.

I love being able to access books on my iPad but the app is always having issues. Now if the app is open it seems to override my sleep settings and the iPad stays on until the battery drains to zero. Please fix these bugs.

Please fix the search function. That is one of the most important parts of e-reading and yet whenever I type in a word and press search it goes nowhere. How come whenever something is finally fixed on this app, something else seems to go wrong? Why would you release all these new updates without even checking them over first to see if they actually work?

Why is it that this app now has to reconfirm the point that you are listening to in a audiobook over and over again but still not get it right? When you start listening to a book is it necessary to stop the book to ask if you want to continue again and again and then start again at a new point instead of where you left off. Not only can’t it get the place you are reading correct but it can’t remember to place to stopped listening to in the audiobook. PLEASE FIX THIS APP!!!
