Has not sent picture or video messages properly in over a year. Even worse since the encryption update. I have to DELETE the app and reinstall it for it to KIND OF work. And when you deleted it half your messages delete with it. Almost ready to delete the app and not use it.

Used to be my fav messaging app
I used to love messenger it was like the only thing I would use to talk to anybody for 8+ years. But lately the updates just seem to be making it worse. With the end to end encryption messages are always missing even when I type in the code. Like full conversations are just gone. Even unread messages are just gone. And it won’t let me search messages and click on any of the encrypted ones anymore. It’s just so glitchy and annoying at this point. I’m gonna have to start looking for a new messaging app unfortunately.

Highlights are the worst, as are group chats
Please get rid of the highlights section in my messenger, or at least give a way to turn it off so it doesn’t have a notification dot CONSTANTLY!!
And get rid of groups making a new chat, for every single event and little thing. I didn’t want AnY group chats…that’s what the dang group is for! And you can’t really get rid of them. I accidentally clicked on one, no way to opt out except the leave the group. I can hide it. But then I get the red notification dot and can’t figure out why until I unhide and click on every single group chat till I find it.
Just the worst.

Everything worked fine, but one day I received a technical error “page not available.” My wife previously had the same error on a new phone for over a year. It can be concluded that the “Meta” company, while collecting money from advertising from users, does not care about their comfort. Such a corporation cannot have such an attitude towards core applications.

Title says it all. If you have an authenticator app connected to your Facebook logins, a pin is a less secure additional step. Once the 6 digit pin is enforced, I will no longer use messenger

No option to log out
App works well enough, occasionally will have issues sending notifications until you manually open the app again.
Biggest issue is the lack of logout feature, you can only switch accounts. It’s clear this is a deliberate choice and a strange one at that.

Meta add end-to-end encrypted which is a plus.
BUT, removed these so valuables options :
- pin messages
- search in conversation
- pre-show lastest messages without left on seen
Will you add it back ?! These things were the only reasons why Messenger was such a great app for communication. Since you removed them, your app hasn't any more values that any other texting app.

Just locked my account. I was changing my setting on my computer. Which is not a regular device I use thats what it says. And now asking me to confirm my identity. Can’t confirm it logged me out of all the devices.

Full of bugs
Since the new update the app has been full of bugs.
Takes forever to send and receive messages. Everytime I receive a message the screen and keyboard do not adjust to show the new message on screen so I have to scroll down each time to show my new message. And the media quality is even worse than before

It shows i’m active when i’m not
It’s so so so annoying that messenger shows i’m active when i’m actually not. Every time just right after my friends send me a message i became active, so when i replied them back late, some of them thought i ignored their messages..it makes me stressed can you please fix this problem? It’s a fun app. 🕹Developer request: could position of friend’s video image be a user-changeable option? Would like to reposition it to top of screen, closest to camera lens. It would be more satisfying if the person you’re video chatting with appeared to make eye contact with me while we chat, rather than hooded eyelids as they look down. (Maybe this would look crosseyed, but hopefully it would film as a shared gaze, which is more fun in a conversation).

Je trouve que la nouvelle mise à jour rend l’expérience moins agréable. Avant la mise à jour, lorsqu’on était sur l’accueil de toutes nos conversations on pouvait voir si quelqu’un avait lu notre message alors que maintenant on doit ouvrir la conversation chaque fois pour savoir. Aussi le processus pour envoyer des photos n’est pas très optimal, car il est difficile de faire la distinction entre chacune de nos photos, car il y a 6 petites photos collées les unes sur les autres.
Est ce que dans la prochaine mise à jour il serait possible de régler ces problèmes?

Are we stupid?
So, messenger wants to help us build more meaningful conversations with friends and family. I think most of us can handle that just fine ourselves.
I do not want to have my inbox filled with stuff I did not ask for from people I barely know. If I want to be in touch with people I do so on my own, at my time.

Group chats
Hi,
Wondering why if FB owns WhatsApp why doesn’t the client behave the same in a group chat. If I am away from a group chat for a while in WhatsApp is picks up right where I left off when I comeback. Messenger just gives you this “20+ unread messages” thing and then takes you back sort of where you were but not quite as good as WhatsApp.
Can you please fix Messenger to be gave like WhatsApp? It would be so much less annoying to use if if just behaved like WhatsApp.

I did not want to download messenger to be able to talk with people, I was forced to. I miss the old way of just being able to see your messages from within safari or in the app. Now to use Facebook I have to have two different apps! Love Messenger/Great for old folks too
My mother has Alzheimer's and doesn't get much use out of her iPad except for messenger. Every morning I sent her videos of random things off the Internet and she can spend a 30 to 60 minutes watching them… It brings her a lot of laughs. It's also been a great way to keep connected with friends in other countries. I highly recommend it for anyone.
