LOVE IT

This app is perfect for people like me who always seem to forget to brush their teeth or set time aside for lunch. It's a little confusing, and I STRONGLY recommend watching the tutorial videos before attempting to use. But the videos are very clear and make this app very useful.

Great app for planning the fine details of your day!

I have used various ways of planning my day over the years from paper planners, to electronic organizers to iPhone scheduling apps. I think this is one of my favourites!
I work shift work on an 8 day week schedule. Each day's routine is different so planning/editing my week in a traditional calendar can be pretty tedious event with templates and recurring events. I also found that it was hard to separate the things that had set times from the rest of my routine.
With Daily Routine I now put only my work schedule and appointments/events in my main calendar (but they also show up in Daily Routine). Then I've set up different routines for each day of my week. If I want to make a change I can either apply it to just that day or to the routine going forward in just a few steps. I don't have to go in and edit each individual event every time.
I also like the timers. It shows how long you've been doing an activity, how long you have left, how long your gaps are. You can colour code things and add icons.
This app is great for planning out your time and making the most of your day! I do use another app for my tasks but I schedule the time to do them using this app.
Most of all I like that the developer seems to really care about the users, takes pride in his product and strives to make an already great app even better!!

Love it

It took time to set it up as my taste, but saved me from going thru multiple apps to review my detail daily schedules. It will not replace my other GTD productivity apps, but it will help save me looking at my detail daily schedules in one place at a glance. Beautiful UI on iPhone 6 Plus BTW.

Need to structure your day?

Need some HELP to structure your day? If so, Daily Routine is the perfect app for you as it has been for me for more than two years now.
Being an electronic engineer, I need to handle many TYPES of tasks that require me to be focused and disciplined. Understand that this app is NOT a task manager (I use Omnifocus), Daily Routine is a ROUTINE manager.
For example, after a 25 minutes of work, an alarm from daily Routine signals me to leave my desk for five minutes to have a coffee, go to the bathroom or just for a brief workout (a little walk or going up the stairs for a level or two). I then start another 25/5 minutes session. I have many routines (30, 60 and 90 minutes long) based on that pattern (Pomodoro technique) that I use to plan my day. As Daily Routine incorporates what's on my calendar, I can plan my day effectively in seconds and my agenda stays clean.
I have many different types of routines to plan different types of activities or plan my week ends. Daily Routine is powerful and flexible: to accommodate a meeting that last longer than expected, you can slide a routine full of activities with just a touch!
Such a great app comes at a price: you need to invest some time to master this app, but the rewards are great. Take some time to understand the concepts of activities, routines, timeslots and timeline, how those concepts act together and go thru the videos. Don't try to fill your timeline completely at first. Start slow and take 2-3 days to get use to the app. Don't go insane and and build a routine for your sleep !! 8-)

Waste of time

Do not waste your time and money on this. It is complex to use and time consuming; it will take you more time to figure this app out than typing your activities on your own calendar. It's garbage

Potential to be a great app

This app is the one to get to organize your routine. It's easy to add new things, repeat events, has helpful tutorial videos, quiet time feature, colour coding, icon for every activity, looks cool, etc. The only things that are a problem is that it crashes from time to time and occasionally the app goes black. Once these things are fixed it will be a five star app.

Nice idea, but...

Great interface. Lots of icons to select from. That's where the niceness of the app ends. It is extremely difficult to schedule...a real pain! Powerful and beautiful

If a simple app is what you're looking for this isn't it. But if you like to tinker with the small stuff and get your schedule looking and performing exactly how you want, then this app is perfect. Change icons, colors, set daily routines or routines that only occur once in awhile. This app performs great but you should spend 10 minutes to get accustomed to how it works. Start with the included example routines and watch the tutorial videos. There are many layers and ways to set up your routines, but once you're ready and you're used to the controls, it really is a pleasure to use.

Good app

I wouldn't say it took me 5min to set things up. It took me 1 washroom 'sittings'. I'm kind of a cheapass and only download 0.99 or free app. This is really the first 2.99 app i bought. I think it is worth it. What I liked about this app is the countdown. As one of the reviewer said, it is good for someone with ADD. It keeps people who wanders to stay focused until the time passes - or so it seems. I had many 'systems' prior that failed. Today is my second day using this app so I wouldn't know whether it'll help yet.
One thing that will improve this app is a way to record my already ended task. So like an overview of what I accomplished (can be a note attached to that day for me to write on it, explaining to myself if I did finish the task, and if not, why not?) I guess it'll make things a bit more complicated for that 70yr old out there, but if you have that function, then this app will be all emcompassing.
Lastly, yeah i guess that multiple routine per day tag is a bit of a mess, but I would see it as an under development project rather than an end game. It is a minor flaw that needs to be revamped somehow.

Perfect for my ADHD

Made myself spend the 20 minutes learning the interface, and now the whole thing feels completely natural and intuitive! I love the way this app helps you break everything down into manageable-seeming steps if you need to, then hides the steps away until you want them so it never feels overwhelming. Also, i find having a wide choice of colors and icons really helps keep me engaged while making routines; it feels more like "creating" than working and that makes it much easier for me to stay on task and actually get my schedule DONE.
An added bonus was how it helped me realize, "Huh. All these things I'm trying to do really -don't- fit into a single day. I don't need to work harder, I just need to plan better." And with this app, I feel like I finally can.

Needlessly complex, but effort pays off

This app fills the gap of a calendar for people who lack discipline or skill to manage their time. This could be a very valuable tool for people with ADD. It adds structure to your day, reminds you to take daily actions. For self employed people, it enables you to set a guideline for your days and let's you visually see where there are gaps to fit in fluctuating activities.
I originally used iCal but it cluttered up my schedule with mundane things like "feed the dog" or "wash the dishes". I now use this app for things that I do every day and let my iCal remain for booking personal and work appointments. In the system that I've adopted, appointments in iCal override Daily Routine which is used as a guide that can be broken but reminds me whenever fixed routine actions are supposed to happen. It works excellent in that role.
However, Daily Routine tries to reinvent the wheel which needlessly introduces complexity and confusion. I personally almost gave up and from the reviews here and elsewhere online, I bet many will want a refund after trying to learn the app and encountering limitations which are most likely just hidden in the UI somewhere.
The developer should have followed the universal calendar interface of blocks of time representing events and their duration rather than this convoluted custom UI. It's difficult to find empty time slots and to judge from a birds eye view where you have available time and how much.
Another reinvention of the wheel is the time setting gesture. Nobody would ever guess that touching the time -- which itself is too narrow to be finger friendly -- and then dragging in circles would adjust the clock. A simple tap with a popup would work better because its already a UI convention that people know from iOS.
Trying to do things differently for the purpose of showing off or trying to be different is not a strategy that will work in the grand scheme of things. You scare away far more people than you impress.
If you have to have a Help menu, you've already failed. Luckily my willingness to have a well structured routine was stronger than my frustration to learn this app and I'm now reaping its benefits.
If in 3.0 you revamp the UI to look more like a traditional calendar but with all the niche features that make a routine app useful, you will have a much bigger audience willing to give this a try.

Very Interesting Apps

A little difficult to learn but well worth the effort. The developer has a number of very good video examples showing how to use the application. Great for visualizing where your time is being used and where you have free time. Very flexible, allowing routines to be recurring, limited time, alternate weeks monthly, one time only. It help me see how I was spending my time and where I had free time to do things that I had been procrastinating.

Pretty, but impossible to set up

Great idea, and really really nice looking, but unfortunately impossible to figure out how to set it up or use it. The developer has put up some useful videos but it's not enough. For example: it is not possible to set up one routine for weekdays and own for weekends, because while it is possible to set up any number of routines, it is not possible, at least for me, to figure out how to assign weekends to one routine and weekdays to the other routine, because whenever you try to change routines it just assigns all the old dates to the new routine and erases them from the old routine and there is no way, that I can see, to make it not do that. So either you have a weekend routine and no weekday routine or a weekday routine and no weekend routine, but there is no way at all to set up two routines with different dates. Whe you are in "dates" mode you can't switch routines and when you are in"routines" mode you can't get at the calendar.
For example.
This would be great if it were possible to figure out how to make it work, but I am not the person who can do that. I suspect that the developer is the only one who can.
I gave it two stars because it is awfully pretty and someday it may work. But not yet.

No changing

It takes a long time to create a set day. Once that day is made it is very complicated to change. So u make multiple days and set each day to the week/ month. If u miss something in the day u cannot easily move it forward to happen later. I do love the colors and I find it exciting to give structure but I need some flexibility and it doesn't offer easy user friendly changes in plans.

Nice start; like it to be more flexible

When setting up a routine, it's frustrating to think of something you need to insert. If you're setting up a day, and get to noon, but remember a slot you'd like to add at 8 am, you can only do so by deleting everything added after 8 am. Unless I'm missing something. Still, an interesting idea for an app. Keen to see how it comes along.
