Does not work on iPad

Seems to work on iPhone, but not on iPad. Only in portrait mode and is cutoff. The other app in store that says is for iPad, once this update was released, is no longer supported. Very poor. The e paper app works but is hard to read on small screen. P.s. I have since discovered that if you open the app with iPad already in portrait mode, then it is not cut off.

App is terrible

Does not fit the screen. Unable to read a headline.
Also lost the ability to read horizontal or vertical an a tablet.
Fix it. Bring landscape reading back!

Not there yet

The app doesn’t seem to allow for rotation. Only “works” if the iPad is portrait vs landscape. Also does cuts off the “page” because the screen isn’t wide enough.
And The spec still seems to post to Facebook before their own app.

Rarely Works

Not a very nicely laid out app. Although it’s easy to navigate, it could be more functional. And half the time I find that it doesn’t load anything - it frequently just remains a blank white screen. Waste of space on my phone.

Always closes!

If I'm lucky enough for it to even open.... The app just closes either before it loads or just as I'm clicking on an article.
There has been nothing but issues with every spec version there's been!

Miss the old version huge

On this version of the app, we can no longer share articles or favourite them. Furthermore, when scrolling through, should you select an article to read, then click 'back', it takes you to the first article in the scroll again, and you must scroll through all over again. It also seems there are not as many 'new' articles as before: the same articles stick around, and are not organized in order of most recent. Personally, I'm very frustrated to have lost the old app as well as all the articles I'd favourited.

Bad layout. Needs constant restarts

Weird new hard to use layout. What on earth is "main news" vs "latest news". App is often just a white screen that needs to be closed and opened again to load. Anther *on the very very long list* of awful spec app updates.

Glitches with new update

I don't mind the layout of the updated Hamilton Spectator app; I just have a few issues with its functionality. I believe the biggest problem is that I am no longer able to share news articles like I used to, unless this function is hidden somewhere which isn't very good either. I like the new sections, but I just find it difficult to scroll through them as the previews of the articles move too fast if you choose to swipe as opposed to clicking on the arrows. Overall, I like the updated look, but hopefully those two issues could be addressed in a future update.

Previous version was better.

Bad update. Last format was much easier to use and cleaner.
When you read an article on this format and hit back it makes you start over and scroll back to next article.
With each update I move further away from trusting and relying on the spec for news.

Crashes on start up....again

Great app when it works. But lately it's always crashing when you try and open it. You guys really need to get this fixed! It's a joke really. Like you enjoy messing with people! It works for a month then it crashes for weeks on end! FIX THIS APP PLEASE!

Hysterically terrible app.

This app is a complete piece of crap. But what should you expect from the spec? They can't even get grammar and spelling correct in their articles.
This app is so bad the ads designed to pop up every 30 seconds don't even load and only produce a white screen over whatever article you were reading. (I certainly hope no one PAID for that ad space....)
At least twice a week the app just crashes when it tries to refresh with new content.

Crash central! Avoid!

Won't load anymore. Just crashes... And crashes... And crashes. Adding to my older review... A year later and it still doesn't work. Do yourself a favour and avoid the "speculator" app.

Here we crash again spec app! Maybe it's because I have the free version but there is simply no content at all once the app loads. Please fix! I like the app...when it works...which is about 6 months out of the year...

Completely unreliable

Working again ... for now, anyway

Whatever bug or supposed 'fix' that was contributing to the app crashing appears to be solved (at least for iPhone 6 with the latest iOS 9 update). Initial startups might lag but when it works, site is as it appears on screen grabs.

Terrible

Doesn't Work

The Spectator itself is a mediocre newspaper however the App is just terrible. It has not worked in over a month. I would like to give it a zero rating however I am forced to choose 1 star.
