It works, don’t get me wrong. But at every corner it makes the simplest things so difficult or impossible. Constantly logging you out. Randomly switching stores. And by the far the dumbest idea built in - if you do pickup, you can’t order ahead of time so you have to wait like an idiot there. Use the uber eats or any other app instead

Absolute horrid customer support!!

Ordered food on the App and when it arrived the food in the bag was completely incorrect. They then refused to give us a refund. We called customer support on the app and they admitted it was 100% their mistake and they still rejected a refund!! The guy on the phone didn’t even know WHY he couldn’t give us our money back. Just said their system rejected it. Had to drive the food back to the actual store and even then they tried to just give us coupons instead of money! Gave us a crazy excuse about it being because we ordered through the app. So beware about ordering on this app… if your order comes and it’s wrong, good luck getting your money back!!

For delivery, just do Skip or Dash

I got a kids meal instead of my 30 dollar order and when I called the help line (that’s your only option is to call so you can’t send pictures to prove you have the wrong order or show your receipt to make it more efficient when there is a language barrier) the lady said since I have my receipt she can’t offer a refund or send the correct order. When I said that that’s probably a common mistake to bag the wrong order even with the correct receipt attached, she still said she couldn’t do anything. She refused to put me higher up as well.

Long story short, just use Door Dash or Skip. They have a more effective and efficient customer service that will actually take ownership when they make a mistake.

Terrible data harvesting waste of space. If an app is going to gobble up your data, it should at the very least make it worth your time. This app doesn’t. The deals are awful, the points expire way too quickly, they don’t prepare your food until you arrive which more or less defeats the whole point of preordering, the food is absurdly priced these days, and you get McDonald’s quality. My boyfriend was on his way home so I made a mobile order to be ready in time for him to pick it up and bring it home on his way. The app has several worrying security flaws.

Rewards/ Condiments

Hello App Devs. I would like to say I do use the app a fair amount and will carry on doing so. I like the ease of use and it makes things simpler in many cases. I rarely go inside the restaurant and use drive through as the way of picking up what I order. I would like to suggest that the rewards we accumulate should be able to be used at our own discretion though. Being able to use rewards freely would make most people happier and probably use the app more. We are giving you access to our personal information. I’m sure lots of people hate that. I have deleted apps for much less than that. Even if you allowed the use of rewards for at least 3 or 4 separate items that would be a lot better. Consider this a win because that would make people want to earn rewards faster so they could possibly feed a person and a friend and impress the friend to also use the app more. Also, another suggestion, add Sun Mac Sauce to the list of condiments when a person wants to substitute ketchup and mustard for it. The same can be done with the mayo as well. It only makes sense.

Who Did Not Inform Me There Was no more little sticky cup prize codes on the cup of coke

I started my day like any other, then around 9:30 I went to go get McDonald’s. I got a cup with a code on it.

After 5 cruel minutes of trying to figure it out gone through 2 YouTube videos. Only to find out the McDonald’s sticky code cup thing was longer available by my friends mother. Thus we come to the conclusion that I buried it in my friends backyard.

Something’s wrong

The problem I outlined below is still a problem. When I order and pickup from the drive thru, my order doesn’t clear so before I order again I have to sign out and sign back in again. The order automatically clears if I get my order delivered to curbside but with colder weather coming, I’d prefer not to make employees trudge through frigid or bad weather when I could use the drive thru. Please fix this!

I ordered and received my order in Woodstock. A few days later I wanted to order in Aylmer but my Woodstock order was still in my cart. Since I couldn’t order otherwise I modified the cart and paid for the order. The store showed as Aylmer but they didn’t get the order. As I drove away I looked on another screen that showed the order went to Woodstock. Somethings obviously wrong and I think it could be solved if the order cleared instead of carrying forward for days. I have closed the app and restarted it but am still showing a cart with 3 items in it. PS Aylmer filled my order apparently for free - great customer service but shouldn’t have been necessary.

Atrocious app

I don’t understand how the world’s largest most recognized restaurant chain can come up with such an atrocious app.

Remember this:

(1) people ordering on mobile are very often doing so on the go

(2) the first point of your app is to drive sales

You can’t have dozens of little things to click all over the interface before you can customize simple things like cream in your coffee, or whether you want fries as a side.

Everything has to be intuitive, quick, easily accessible.

Instead we have an extremely busy interface which hides the items to order in multiple layers of menus; customizing each item is a major pain requiring you to hit a minuscule “Customize” button on the way out; and you have to do it one item at a time…

Utter disaster and has been for years.

Put a little money in this and test it with users. See what your competitors are doing.

Heck… recycle the interface from your client facing touch-screen ordering machines in restaurants! Those are clear and well laid out.

This mobile app is an unusable atrocity beyond description.

Non-intuitive, requires multiple clicks for simple commands. If you are ordering for more than one person it takes forever. If I was a first time customer I’d have never stuck it out through the process. The order isn't prepared until you arrive so theres no time savings. The drive thru is faster. Absolute gong show of an app. Crashes constantly, doesn't clear orders once completed. A completed order from a few days ago will just re-activate when you open the app days later. Then arrived at the restaurant, the app froze many times again I ended up had to place order again and took me over 1/2 hour to get the app to order again. Cannot Order？

I don’t know what they did with the latest update but the app is useless. Just got an order started while my daughter played hockey. I put in my and 1 of my Children’s order and waited for my daughter to finish playing. Once she was done I opened my phone to finish the order only to find what I had already inputted was gone. I started all over again and put in the 3 meals and place the order. The app said to tell them when I am at the restaurant. I drive the 2 minutes to the restaurant grabbed my phone and had to log into the account again only to find no order. I left without anything as I was in a rush. I thought the app was supposed to save time but instead it cost me time that I did not have.

A few ridiculous things with the app

I know it’s shocking nowadays, but some people only have cash to pay for the meal at that particular moment. The app does not allow that to happen.

Other fast food apps allow the option to pay Cash.

Also, the app does not allow you to redeem your purchase rewards that you’ve earned to be included with separate special sales offers. So they make you take a separate trip just to cash in your hard-earned rewards. Dumb!

They ask for PRECISE location (with no acceptable justification)

McDonald’s Canada has no reason to ask anyone for their precise location to use the coupons on their app. This is a shady requirement.

Some coupons on the app don’t work or don’t work correctly, and many times the app doesn’t update the coupons so you still have last week’s coupons and you have to restart the app or refresh and it’s annoying.

The prices of the deals are way more expensive than they used to be. Consequence? I no longer go many times per week to McDonald’s.

I downloaded app and gave mobile ordering a try. Figured it may be faster for pick-up as payment would be made through the app. Honestly, i could have killed the cow and turned him into hamburger faster then it took for me to get my meal. Im sure the app is not to blame for everything, but these are the issues i had while using it: the app itself is slow, it is user friendly to an extent but doesnt really explain how to check-in. I was standing in the restaurant for 45 mins...I know, doesnt sound believable considering i was only the 2nd person. When i finally got someone to help me she told me to go into the app and select how i wanted to pick my order up. Well even she left my side when the app was taking so dang long. I had my location on like it wanted but could not recognize i was standing in the restaurant and did not prompt me to “check in”. Ot gave me an order number and told me to get a worker to give it to. Well i did and they couldnt find it, in the 45 mins i was standing waiting for help they hadnt received it. Not too big of a deal, i ended up getting my meal only waited an hr but interestingly enough upon leaving the app finally realized i was in the restaurant and asked if i wanted to check-in. The whole experience took 1.5 hours, had i of been at work on a lunch break and had to deal with a situation like this im sure i wouldnt be so calm. Likely innocent lives would be in jeopardy or i would become a dick customer treating staff like dick and shitting on the back of your toilets so all you needed were the giggles.

Offers are Constantly broken.

The only reason to ever use this app is for the offers, and half of the time you select it you will get the error saying, “the offer is not available at this time of day”.

The only fix I have found for this is to log out, and re log into the app. It’s inexcusable that this has been going on since the apps inception. More people need to complain about this.

Stealing money from my credit card

This app has stolen from me for the last time. We have called and complained many times and they won’t reimburse us, they just send coupons. I would rather get my money back. Today I purchased a $1.15 coffee and confirmed the cost before placing my order and was somehow charged almost $30 after the fact. After having them take money from me that I did not approve too many times, I have now decided to delete this app.

Don’t trust this app.

This app made it super easy to order ahead, but unfortunately insecure and should not be allowed on the App Store. The payment system is very sketchy, with no verified “interact” symbols or anything to validate any sort of secure payment system. Using this app resulted in my McDonald’s account being compromised. I started getting email receipts of people ordering in another Provence. It continued happening even after resetting my password to a more secure one. Ultimately I needed to have my card replaced and deal with an investigation to get my money refunded from my bank TD. McDonald’s support was not helpful, advised me to just “Pay in store” from now on... why are they advising this and still allowing people into this app?

MD fails to protect your credit card info

People need to take this seriously. Last night I received an email for a receipt of my purchase from this app and someone in TO about 5 hours from me used my information to buy food. Do not risk your card on this app and if you have your card saved swipe to the left and delete. DO NOT USE THIS APP. Apparently, I’m not the first person this has happened to.

They charged me for an order. Went to the store and it was closed for construction. Money came out of my account. Called McDs and they said to go ask the store WHICH WAS CLOSED, for a refund. I explained the store was closed. They refused to give me a refund. But they happily took my money. Completely unacceptable and piss poor customer service.

Do NOT link your bank info to this app

Back in June I had noticed on my credit card statement that someone had used my McDonald’s app 3 times on the same day to make $85 worth of purchases in a different province than where I live. My credit card was linked to the app so I could order from my phone and hit the mobile pick up. I called my bank and was refunded and had my card cancelled, but not before contacting McDonald’s corporate, who confirmed my bank info was not compromised, but rather the fraudsters got a hold of my “user token”. This tells me the app was not secure, and I never so much as received an apology, explanation or follow up from McDonald’s. Terrible customer service. I see CBC has already published a story on this problem with other customers. I’ll be contacting the media as well.

The app has been subject to fraud repeated over the last year and McDonald’s refuses to address it. Your bank may not reimburse you for fraud so you’re better off removing any credit card info from here. Until they improve their security policies, this app isn’t worth the risk.
