Ridiculous amount of ads
Love the layout of the app, I’m one of those crazy people who prefer it over the website. Unfortunately the ads take up so much screen space that I’ve since started using Letterboxd and Reddit. Seeing how Amazon runs IMDb, I doubt this will ever get better.

Bragging about a change for the worse?
Got an update today, I see they still haven't fixed what they did wrong last time. Last time I entered to them BRAGGING about the idiot decision to counter-intuitively put all the controls along the BOTTOM, instead of at the top where controls intuitively belong. This all couldn't be stupider, except at least they kept icon labels, identifying things, as opposed to the Bell Fibe app who stupidly decided to just put unidentified icons, as if we'll psychically know what they do. CityTV has the same stupidity, unnamed icons along the bottom. The idiocy is spreading! More people need to realize: Change is inherently BAD. This is just a fact. Don't make a change just to change, just in a misguided attempt to make things "fresh". Keeping things the same is comfortable, keeping things the same is convenient, makes doing things faster and more efficient through familiarity. And all this before even taking into account WHAT is changing or HOW! In a Pro/Con list, any change starts in the Con column before even getting into specifics! How about making such style changes OPTIONAL? Let me set an option to put it back at the top where it belongs! It's so weird to tap a Search at the bottom to then type at the top!
The above is my original review, I don't know from when, could be years. Everything I said is still true, so I'm leaving it. I landed on a 3 star rating. I now remove 5 stars, so IMDb owes me 2 stars, it's at -2. What's always been dumb is much of the IMDb website has been missing from THEIR OWN APP! It hasn't been much of a problem since every page ends in "See more on IMDb". I've submitted 1,000s of updates over the last 15 or so years, mostly for Trivia and Goofs, some Quotes, in the app we could only add the first Trivia - with a terrible minimalist interface, so no thank you - any editing, any Goofs or Quotes or anything else, gotta go to the website. This MOST IMPORTANT COMMAND (always irritatingly at the bottom) is gone now! I thought maybe because the update logged me out, but nope! And so many Trivia and Goofs call for linking other titles or people, that really can't be done now! At least not if I need more than one! I've had to to get fancy, grab a link, go to the next, paste in the website's search field, copy that link, paste it next to the first, copy the pair, etc. Carefully construct a huge paste of all the links. There's nowhere to paste in the app! And it'll lose where I was and often wipe my clipboard while I try! It's a struggle to get the link (then it has an ugly unnecessary tracking parameter after), it doesn't occur to IMDb that editors might only want the code, to link it!
And there's other things, only the IMDb website can properly list all the episodes a character has been in, only the website can show the character page (all the quotes and pictures of the character). And the app now randomly filters filmography by ??? for some people. When I try to see what an actor/actress has been in, many entries aren't there, and the All Filmography is bad to navigate and also seems incomplete, and is annoyingly separated into parts. All of this is right there and easy on the website (despite the recent dumb decision to hide most filmography under a See More, but one click and there's the whole thing).
Thanks for ruining what was a usable app, guess I'll have to struggle with using the weak mobile browser.

Love it… but
Love this app. Have been using it for years. When it works it’s awesome. I use it to make lists to keep track of what I’ve watched and want to watch.
But recently I can no longer scroll on pages. I can’t scroll to read reviews or to rate the film. Which really makes it useless. I hope they can fix the bugs so it becomes a useful app once again.

How IMBD can be better
I wish it had a section that told of all the top 20 moves each category for each year. Or a category where it showed all movies with ratings 6 and above. Some critics are also altering great movies with their dumb comments. Sometimes a movie can be entertaining and not Oscar material.

Good Directory But Biased
IMDB is a good directory of movies, TV shows, and celebrity profiles. But, it seems to be very biased against anyone posting negative written reviews about “woke” movies like “Snow White.” That shows it’s Left leaning politics, rather than being an objective source of written reviews.

Why doesn’t everything fit on my iPhone screen anymore?
This is probably my all-time fave app. But in the last month I’ve noticed when I click on a movie or tv show, the written description/plot bleeds off the screen. When I click on description itself, it’s fine. Also the meta score as well as whatever button is to right of reviews. Doesn’t seem to make a difference if I change size of font. It’s a bit annoying - wish this would be addressed in an update, although it was probably an update that caused this.

Perfection ruined by marketing
While IMDb has the makings of my favourite service to reference as a cinephile, it’s entirely ruined by the long lasting road block of simply pretending that competing services to Amazon prime don’t exist when you choose to view the area dedicated to displaying where a title can be streamed/rented/purchased online.
I am compelled to seek the availability on ‘Just Watch’. I hope it overtakes IMDb in relevancy after enough people say no to their anti-competitive practices.

Content Great, UI Worst
Great database for movies and shows. Sadly, both its website and app do not do justice to its popularity. I thought the app would be a step forward, but somehow it feels clunkier than the website with all those overwhelming presence of ads, meaningless layout, difficult navigation. It takes so many hoops to add movies to my “To Watch” list, for example. It is obvious that the company needs a shakeup as it relies too much on its legacy popularity.

Stop with all the ads
IMDB used to be a wonderful app but now it’s such a garbage with the advertisements on EVERYTHING, you can even see a movie profile without a banner add. It’s obscene. They’re not even movie related, what garbage!!
IMDb suggested I write a review. I loved IMDb, spend way too much time on it. But I am tired of the ads. One time I was literally forced to watch a trailer-for the trailer I sought out to watch. Okay...that’s why I’m here. The trailers are fine for movies etc. but now that they’re shoving ads for random crap like razors when I’m trying to look at stuff I can’t stand it. Very disappointed IMDb continues to drift further and further into ads being unreasonable. It was a fun app when there were no ads, acceptable with related ads, now unacceptable with their garbage ads.

Getting worse over time
It used to be soooo much better, now when you click on a films instead of swiping through photos or trailers, ie visual info on the film you’re interested in, ads come up, trailers and promos for other new movies, it’s honestly rage inducing. Also the tagging thing is weird, clicking on writer or director to see their credits and then having to click writer again to unhighlight your selection before being to populate with other credits like cinematographer or producer…so strange. Before there was just a page on the person you were looking at with rows of all their departments or roles and you could click on them and then go back and click on other row, it was way less confusing then it is now…anyway, IMDB is just not as good as it used to be IMO

Loved this app before the update
I loved and used this app so much but after the update it’s so messy and I can’t find what I’m looking for without scrolling up and down multiple times. The past format was so simple to use and the guides were much better. Please consider moving back to a similar format bcuz this makes it unusable.

I use this app regularly & would give it 5 stars BUT it’s extremely annoying when you look at a feature via the upper banner slides (the top half of the screen on mobile) - when you go back, it bumps you back to the first slide & you have to swipe over many times to get back to see the rest. Latest update is buggy and hangs. Gives me a message that my internet speed is too slow. Deleted the app as it is annoying to navigate. Worked flawlessly for my up until the latest update. As far as content goes, lots of interesting information - my go-to movie database. Now… fix the app please!

I have used this app for years BUT
The most recent update is the worst thing to ever happen to this app. I've probably had this app since 2012 and use it almost everyday and while minor updates have lead to improvements, this newest update is awful. It seems like I'm meant to be using it on an ipad and not an iphone. Everything requires so much extra scrolling and navigating to get not even half
as much information as you could get before. Please stop trying to be trendy and don't fix things that weren't broken.

Since a recent update, IMDB no longer displays the year of a movie or television show in lists for actors and other crew. This really makes it less easy to use. Please bring date display back
The categorization of the watchlist is ok, but it forces extra clicks to access the list. It would be better if this could be disabled or different display default options were available.
