Very helpful reference book
I have found this to be a great reference and refresher for reviewing and figuring out different formulas that make boating easier. It has very useful information for beginners and advanced boaters. Thanks for a great app.

Keep it handy! Index allows you to quickly find the information you need. Great to refresh the memory ie. getting off a dock when pinned by the wind. Well written in easy to understand sections.

Brilliant app
This is a vastly comprehensive reference source of the various areas of nautical knowledge. The physical book is always close at hand in the pilot house of my boat. And now to have it all in my pocket on my iPhone is a leap forward in convenience. The calculators integrated in the text make it even more useful than the printed book. Indexing and bookmarking are well executed and helpful for retrieving information you need from the abundant material in this app. Applause for the developer.

Great app. Lots of important information here. Anyone using a mobile device for boating should really get this. Just reading different pages in the app, I've learned many new things and realized that there are some things I've forgotten or misunderstood when learning them the first time. Get this app!!!

Excellent reference for recreational sailors and boaters
Knowledge gets a boat safely along its passage from departure to destination. After a lifetime in recreational power and sail boating, I've come to respect the importance of two phrases I learned as a young man. A Coast Guard bosun on our Great Lakes icebreaker used to say, "you can't never know enough about the sea". A crewman on a Pacific fishing trawler told me one day during a galley break that his Newfoundland grandfather used to say, "you don't takes what you wants from the sea, you sneaks up on it and wiggles it away".
As the dedicated author says, this is only a brief introduction to the world of maritime knowledge, and a brief reminder for those who have taken proper courses, but it is a handy and very complete reference that found a place on my iPad very quickly. It is well-written in plain language, adheres to sound principles, and amazingly complete. Hundreds of pages cover dozens of topics. The navigation section is very thoughtfully written. I plan to right the author with only a few suggestions. There are dozens of handy calculators. Although very US-centric with a slight nod to Canada, the basic principles in this book apply to boating and sailing worldwide. There is a lot of information on marine maintenance, so it's all here including the galley sink. Some of the information on computer navigation is already a little dated, but the principles in that section are still valid. The book's wealth of knowledge is easy to navigate using clever lists and use of the device's memory.
I have never rated an app 5 stars, but was tempted to do so here. I held off because ideally a staff could be dedicated, if resources allowed, to keeping technical details completely current, and because of the North American focus.

I must have purchased over a hundred apps over the years. This is the first time I felt it necessary to follow up and post a positive review. So much content that covers Canada and USA. It's loaded with information and a great reference. It's a hidden gem! Thanks for putting all this great information together.

Must have for boaters
Amazing detail, wealth of useful information. EVerything you need to know from anchoring to fixing electricl systems. As a new boat owner this app has been an amazing value. Get this and the "Marine: [your location]" app for navigation
