Very good app.

Downloaded a couple of weeks ago and enjoying it immensely. Would like it made clearly which puzzles wont show incorrect letters. Most of them do but it would be helpful if they could be indicated. Thank you for much pleasure.

Best app for Crosswords

I've been playing crosswords since I first bought an iPad. Of all the apps I've played, most have disappeared, left by the wayside. This app though is the best one around. It has been constantly updated for yeas, keeping all of its fans happy.

Lots of free puzzles every day. You can't go wrong with this app.

All e-mails are answered, and any bugs get fixed quickly.

I've been using Crosswords Classic since it was just Crosswords, and it has never disappointed.

Great interface, daily updates, and a nice variety of puzzles and difficulties for all players. By far the best crossword app I've found.

Crashes

I like the app because of the wide range of puzzles but it keeps crashing. I open it and all I get is a black screen with the menu bar at the bottom. It's usually several hours or a day before it opens so I can play.

Good but . . .

This is a very good app. I can't tell you the number of times that it's saved me from the inanity of my work. My only criticisms are that the access interface could be slicker and easier to use in the selection of puzzles. Second, some favourite puzzles seem not to download to the database so, they are not necessarily up to date.

I first got this app when I bought my first iPod touch. It's been with me ever since. Unlike just about every other app that comes and goes over time, this ones stays relevant and is just as good on an iPad as it was on my iPhone 3GS. Spend the money, you won't be sorry

Mental floss

I have been enjoying this app for some time now. It provides me access to wide range of crosswords of differing levels of challenges. I have used it on a daily basis and it has kept me engaged on long flights and waits. No question that this is an excellent and must have app for crossword addicts like me.

What happened

This was a great app, good variety of puzzles and nice puzzle navigation. However, with the last update, none of the new puzzles are loading. Furthermore, when I try to click through to the website for app support, I get 404 - website not found. Has this company gone under?

Loved it….but needs some updating

I’ve been using this app for a few years and I have always loved it. After updating my iPad to 8.1.3 I can hardly use the app. I’ve had to shut down and restart my iPad a number of times to get it to unfreeze, the screen freezes when I try to choose a new puzzle, I can’t remove the keyboard at the bottom of the screen anymore (I use an external keyboard and prefer to see the whole screen). I’ve pretty much stopped using it which is annoying since I used it everyday and paid for the upgrade. If they fix this latest issue, I will give it 5 stars again.

Keyboard in landscape???

Love this app! Not sure why but recently when I ?tried to go to landscape mode my keyboard gets all weird and I can't use it. Hope they fix this soon!

Excellent, not perfect

Generally excellent. One very annoying problem: the mechanism used to enter more than one letter in a single square (used often in the NYT puzzles) is absolutely terrible. Please change this and it would be 5 stars.

Fun... When It Works!

Every time this game gets upgraded, IT WON'T OPEN!!! I have to uninstall it from the iPod and reinstall it from my Mac to get it going, and then it reinstalls all the puzzles I'd completed/deleted/ no longer wanted.

The puzzles are fun and challenging, but I really expected far better stability for ten bucks. PLEASE fix it.

Worth getting

I didn't like crosswords until I started doing them with this app. Instead of getting stuck and leaving it until next day/week where you just get the whole answer, you can get small hints and still feel like you're doing most of the work.

Also, there are far more puzzles available than I could finish each day.

Very nice

I've been very happy with this app and haven't experienced any of the problems of other reviewers, even with the latest updates. I play cryptics from the Globe & Mail, and really like some of the features like landscape, and "pencil" mode. One thing that would be a nice add would be to incorporate a dictionary and thesaurus, so I don't have to switch back and forth to wordbook, which on a non-multitasking os is not speedy.

Solid app for crossword lovers

I tested both Crosswords and 2 Across in their free versions before choosing this one and appreciated having that option from the developers. I liked the interface of Crosswords much better and found it easier to use. The problem with any crossword app is that there's a lot of information to deal with in a small amount of space, and I think the developer of Crosswords has struck a good balance between showing the clues and showing the puzzle itself. I really like the "Clues" view, which shows just a list of the clues and the letters you have filled in for each; sometimes seeing the clue and the letters in a different visual context is all I need to be able to figure it out. Crosswords makes it easy to download puzzles from many different sources.

I've only tried one crossword so far, but it's been a little hard to use. Trying to touch a specific row or box takes several tries.

A terrific app!

Great implementation! Lots of puzzles to choose from, and a very easy to use interface. I was surprised at how thoughtfully done this was. Highly recommended!
