CHEAPER THAN CANADIAN PROVIDERS!!

Version 1.4.3
Hi!
I’ve heard of Airalo a while ago and thought I’d try it on one of my trips to the US. It was a lot cheaper than what Rogers was charging me for my Canada-US data plan. I turned on the line and it connected to the AT&T towers which was really convenient. The coverage was amazing and I really enjoyed the costumer support. Once I came back to Canada I heard that Rogers had these new unlimited data plans and I was hyped about it so I changed my plan, but after checking Airalo prices on the local plans I’ve decided to change my Rogers plan to talk and text and instead get the data plans that are offered by Airalo as they were a lot cheaper than what Rogers was offering. I’ve enjoyed it until they increased the rates a bit and my monthly installments came even with my unlimited Rogers plan so I switched back in but I still get the 1 GBs just in case I go over my data and make Rogers put me on the slow end of the line. It’s great for people who are with the company sisters of these three cellphone provider giants. I know that my cousin got his talk and text only with Virgin and started getting the 5 GB data plans from Airalo that only costs him 30 bucks a month. He does pay around $55 but he gets 7 GBs of data. (Virgin gives me 2 GB bounce)
It’s amazing for the travelers, great for the locals, and a nice little change for just the Canadians who want to get more data while spending the same amount.
Best of lucks!

Excellent data options while roaming

Version 1.4.2
I’ve used Airalo a few times now and they are absolutely my go-to provider for data when roaming (or even extra data at home while camping). Their support is outstanding and they are definitely knowledgeable. No cookie-cutter responses here. Excellent rates, fast speeds, and an app with a clean and gorgeous design (heck, even the eSIM’s have excellent graphics).
Very impressed. I don’t even need to shop around anymore with other providers or apps. Airalo always comes out on top.
My only request would be to allow payments via Apple Pay. And I’m also not positive what the minimum Airmoney redemption price is.
Keep it up!

Overall great, but there is a catch...

For the price you pay, I believe it is the best value out there! I purchase a $7.5 USD eSim in Canada that gives me 1GB for 7 days. There is a counter on the app that tells you how much data left you have on the eSim.
The only catch was the activating part. Because you require a second device to scan the QR code, the majority of people will need to manually install it. As a young person, it did take me a few minutes to play around with the settings in order for it to work. This can be solved by having more clearer instructions with step-by-step pictures for those customers who are less tech-savvy.
Looking forward to using more of Airalo in the future! :)

Works great in Canada

Version 1.1.2
I just needed a bit more data while in BC and it worked great near Prince George. The only down side is seems to use the Telus and Rogers network. When I’m in remote areas I would only get a Bell signal but not the others. But that’s the down side of remote work not Airalo’s problem. Ultimately the service worked great when I have signal and I’ll use it again.
The four star is for the app and web site. It lacks in being user friendly. For the new guy trying to figure out what and how to use eSims I had to get my info from other web sites.

I recently used Airalo while I was on vacation in Australia. It was my first time using an esim provider and the experience was an epic failure.
I was never once able to actually send or receive data - my phone was hooked up to the network but dats was throttled so much by the provider as to render all my apps useless.
The one thing that did get through were system messages between Airalo and Rogers, my provider in Canada. These messages were sent in the background - I believe they had something to do with Messenger and FaceTime. My provider charged me $12 a day for the privilege.

Very Impressed!

I used to buy sims or pocket wifis on trips but this is way better. I tried out a $3 package for the US and it worked really well! It took a little configuring to get my iMessage working but in the end it was all good. Decent speed as well, as it used the T-Mobile network for Seattle. The app makes it easy to buy and use - instructions are given. However, not sure how to use the QR code if it’s camera based, but manually entering was easy enough. Will use for other trips as well now!

I was excited the first time I used it. I bought a simple $5 eSIM to test it out. It worked great.
Then, when it expired and I purchased a new one; it’s not working. After the demo I bought the $18 5GB plan and I can’t activate it. I have active towers nearby and it’s doing nothing. APN settings are correct and roaming is on.

Airalo is the proof that Canadian carriers rip us off. I have my own data plan, but it’s only 2Gb and sometimes I go over it. I have the option of paying either 10$ for 250mb, going all up 22 for 1Gb.
Now, at least I have another option: I can pay 7$ for 1Gb of data, a third of the price.
I’m even thinking about switching to a call and text plan and using this for data

Very slow speeds

The app is actually good and works well, and that’s why I’m giving 2 stars. Otherwise that’s it. The service is terrible. I was in the Orlando, FL and there are so many dead spots that makes this service unusable. It seems that it gets a low priority on T-Mobile 4G network. Not worth it, I ended up paying for roaming.

Customer service is quick to respond to emails (within 24 hours) but they don’t seem to understand what the customer’s issue is even when screeshots are provided. Will not be using again and would not recommend.

I bought an eSIM for a recent trip to Mexico and was pleased with the experience. It cost me $6 for a week, while my home carrier charged $12 per day!
Buying the plan for Airalo was easy, just follow the instructions to install it and make sure you set the APN correctly (if needed). This is the hardest part, but it takes less than a minute.
I bought my plan a week before travelling, and it activated just fine when I switched my phone on at destination.
I’m never travelling again without an eSIM!

Installing the eSIM is not that easy because you can't scan the QR code from your own phone.
Also you usually manually have to change the APN settings which is hidden deep in the menus of iOS. The description in the app on how to do this is lacking verbosity.
Furthermore, for some eSIMs I had to turn off automatic network selection as the card would roam but even with data roaming turned on would lose data connectivity when roamed onto a network that doesn't match the network stated in the eSIM details.
Other than that I didn't have many issues with this. Speed is fine but you do get a foreign IP (in Canada I got a US Amazon AWS one, in Germany a French OVH IP).
Prices are fantastic.

Excellent

No more being held ransoms by telcos. By far the best as the easiest in getting travel packs. I even use it in my home country as it is cheaper than my home country’s internet offering!
I would wish I could tether but in the US and Canada, seems like you can’t do so maybe because of partner arrangements.
Customer service is really good and while they are not 24/7, they respond immediately and help you resolve it.
They are not a scam. I have used them for like 4 months now.
Well done. Keep it up.

Please don’t let yourself get caught in this scam like I did. Remember, you get what you pay for! This was a complete waste of money. My ESim didn’t work and my partner’s did, but it was slower than dialup. BEWARE!

Edit: they have excellent customer service and refunded us because we had connection issues. They responded right away. I’ve changed my initial 1 star review as I no longer believe they are a scam. Hopefully they can resolve the connection issues!
Old review: This is 100% a scam, and should not be used and should be deleted by Apple in the App Store. It doesn’t work at all, and you are just giving them money. There are legit alternatives that you can use.
