Climate control not working

I’ve been using the Toyota app with my 2021 RAV4 Prime for years, and one of the most useful features was the ability to remotely control the climate settings. After a recent app update, the climate control option has disappeared. The feature worked perfectly in previous versions and was especially valuable during Canadian winters and hot summer days.

It’s frustrating to lose functionality that was previously available and part of the reason I used the app. Please restore the remote climate control feature or clearly explain why it was removed. The newer version feels like a step backward compared to earlier releases.

Having so many problems with navigation system

The navigation system in the Crown is terrible. It has been an issue since day one and unfortunately the dealership has not been much help. We constantly have problems when trying to switch between drivers. The system simply doesn’t work. I am left with a blank white screen or a blue screen that will not respond. It is so frustrating.

If this app was free forever it would be an ok app. I have a rav4 xse phev 2025 and it’s REALLY long to have the actual % reading of charging on this app. I must refresh the page at least 10 times before it read it for me. I can’t imagine paying for this at all. Even if it was perfect, paying monthly for an app for a new 60k car? No thanks i’ll live without it.

Good options - wish I could start preconditioning from the app

I like the app - it’s a bit slow to connect but I understand that it’s got to connect to Toyota and then my car so reception is a factor. However the one thing I wish it would do is allow me to start preconditioning remotely so eg in winter I can have it ready to go and not have to go outside, start the car, start preconditioning then go inside to let it do it. Doesn’t do what Toyota said it would do.

Toyota said I could use it to lock the car remotely and use the map feature to see where the car was when I wasn’t in it, like finding it in a parking lot. It doesn’t remote lock/unlock and the map feature only shows where I am, and not the car.

The only thing the app does is show me my tire pressure, but the car also does that without the app.

The Toyota app and CarPlay integration on iPhone

The Toyota app and CarPlay integration on iPhone is extremely frustrating. Every single time I get near my car or connect to CarPlay, my iPhone keeps asking me to allow the Toyota app to communicate again and again — even after selecting “Always Allow” multiple times.

This is clearly not an isolated issue. Many Toyota owners are reporting the exact same problem with newer models like Prius, Corolla Hybrid, and BZ4X. Reinstalling the app, reconnecting Bluetooth, and resetting CarPlay do not permanently fix it.

The constant permission popups make the experience feel buggy and unfinished. Toyota and Apple seriously need to work together to resolve this issue.

Great cars, but the app experience is disappointing and unreliable right now.

Just awful

We love our Toyota BZ but the app is absolute junk. Thankfully there are lots of good third party apps. The Toyota app barely works, signs out randomly and often requires rebooting the phone to get it to work again. I’m glad it’s free for the first couple of years. I certainly would not pay anything for such an awful app.

Latest update ruined features

The latest version of the app released Dec 4 2025 completely ruined the remote climate start settings for my car. Not only am I no longer able to see how long the car is on before it turns off (20 min countdown), now it doesn’t start at all. I click “start” the bar fills in the app, and…nothing happens. I stood right by the car for 30 min trying to get it to work and nothing.

Toyota, please double check and triple check these releases. The latest app is broken and should never have been pushed for release.

Bring back the charge now button!

I don’t live in a region where electricity prices fluctuate based off of the time of day so a schedule for charging is not advantageous for me. Sometimes I just want my car to charge when I plug it in. Previously, I could activate the charge now feature anytime I was plugged in. Now my only option is to catch it before a door is opened or plug the car in multiple times to make it charge now.

This application is frustrating to the point that I will be deleting it and going back to wired connection.

Every time I start my car it asks me if it can connect to my car/phone. (It should be approved one time and done) not every time.

Always asking to connect

the app always asks to connect to the vehicle despite being able to do so automatically. It takes up the screen and you can’t do anything unless you press ignore or accept. if you accept it takes you to the toyota app for no reason. connecting to carplay is the worst part about owning a toyota just because of this very annoying quirk.

Remote start fails 95% of the time

Remote starter fails 95% of the time, despite my vehicle being parked right in my driveway, 15 feet away. No issues getting it to work for locking and unlocking the vehicle though.. odd, but very disappointing, and not worth paying the money for something that doesn’t work, unfortunately.

It does what it should but there are some major blindspots.

1. Wish you could schedule a remote start. Say for every weekday morning at 720.

2. Why can't the heated seats be turned on when remote starting? Do you know how cold those seats are when it's -40c outside.?3. Wish one had the option of making the remote start period longer. Like 15 or 20 min. Instead of 10 min.

Not great for a family

My wife and I each drive a Toyota that uses the app. The way Toyota setup the app for us is on different accounts but now we cannot both have access to both vehicles. If you give guest access and then stop guest access you have to restart the setup process in the vehicle before it will work again. Unless the techs don’t know what they are doing it seems like Toyota doesn’t want you to own/share more than one Toyota.

I am renting a Toyota Camry and, unlike most vehicles, you have to the Toyota app. The one app cost money and the second app won’t accept the 2023 VIN. It is an easy decision that I will not rent or buy a Toyota product again. Thanks for making future decision easier. Brutal.

Super frustrated that you pay a lot of money to get a car starter installed that will have the ability to start with the app (selling. Feature for the company) and then after a year they make you pay $10 a month to be able to use it. Total crap that you pay for a car starter made by Toyota instead of a third party just to have the phone starting feature and then they start charging you monthly for it. I’ve already paid for the product so it’s just a money grab from the company to then have to pay monthly to even use it. Toyota is scamming people because I asked about a subscription at the dealership and they told me they don’t do that, even after I clarified never have to? And they said yup, we don’t do subscriptions. Lies. It’s all just lies to get your money.

Not reliable

The app worked for the first two months and then stopped working properly. I still get notifications but the app will not allow me to access the app, I get a “sorry for the inconvenience, but app isn’t working” message. I tried signing back in and I’m still unable to access the app. There’s no way I will be paying for this app once my free trial is over if I can’t reply on the app to work. I’m very disappointed because when it works, it’s a great app.

I have no trouble!

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. I had no trouble. Connected to my vehicle easily and app works great! Got a notification while I was in a store that I forgot to lock the car. Opened app and locked it. Perfect. ☺️👍🏻

Few Issues

No way I’d pay any money for this app. Has some neat features, but should be 100% included with the purchase of a new car.

Why does it take so long to do anything? Definitely not worth using to actually lock/unlock car.

Why can’t the Apple Watch app work independently of the phone app? Step 1: open Apple Watch app. “Please log into app on phone to use.” Huh? Step 2: pull out phone and open Toyota app. Step 3: use Apple Watch app. So dumb.

You have to force close the app when you’re done using because it drains your battery so fast. Useless.

The app seems to be fully functional, but continues to use location services continueously even after the app is closed.

Useless

I don’t use many apps but when I do, this one sucks the most! As with all of Toyota’s info/interactive it is in the dark ages. Doesn’t work half the time, and the fact I have to pay for this crap after my “free” trial period is ludicrous. Do they make good vehicles? I’m not sure. I don’t like 21.9 L/100 km’s fuel economy. I had better fuel economy (by far) in my 2004 chev crew cab 4x4. Sorry, wrong review!
