Terrible app. Doesn’t work for vehicle maintenance and Subaru Canada seems to be ignoring this as I have contacted them several times and all I get is we has passed on to tech support. Several weeks have gone by and no response yet ! Hello please wake up and respond. !! Wouldn’t advise anyone to rely on this app or the support from Subaru Canada. USA is far more supportive and unfortunately they do not have this app.

Mixed review. Where is Apple Watch App?

The things that work are great! Love the remote start although delayed start sometimes buggy. Remote lock/unlock handy. Love the locate feature. Odometer seems accurate and is handy to have for monitoring mileage limits on lease.

Not so great: Fuel reading always shows 0 even though app says it was updated last time car turned off. Makes me wonder if other car readings wouldn’t work like windshield fluid low.

Where’s the Apple Watch app?! Would be super handy. Apparently available in US. When will it be available in Canada? Until then, grateful for App and will continue to use the great features that DO work.

10 min to warm a car in the north doesn’t work

The app works fine but the remote start needs to change. Warming a car north of 53rd isn’t even time. Heck, even two 10 min intervals aren’t enough and then you have to go manually start it. That’s ridiculous and needs an update

The two tier sign in can be kind of annoying and taking longer than needed

My husband has the Ford app which gives so much more detail, including percentage of fuel amount of kilometres left on the tank

And also location service so you can see the location of the vehicle. I feel like Subaru could upgrade their apps a bit better.

Frequent Connectivity Issues

I have had ongoing issues with connectivity. For no reason my subaru account won’t login so features like remote start won’t work. Very slow to connect to my phone. Slow response to commands are way too common. Loses its connection to car play regularly.

It could be awesome, but it isn’t in Jan 2026. (And yes I’ve contacted Subaru, I’m to “call back tomorrow “)

There's a constant message about a car startup error, even though the car starts up without any problems. On the plus side, thanks for getting rid of the face check every time you log in.

App works ok except for one glitch

Here’s my last hope that a Subaru software guru reads this. All functions on the app work well except for the remote vehicle start notification.

We sold our 2024 Ascent to purchase a new 2025 Ascent.

During our ownership we used the remote start function on the 2024 and it worked well.

We use the remote start on the 2025 and it also works well except it sends a message to the app of the new owner of our old 2024 that we have remotely started the 2025. This is very annoying for the new owner.

We have worked with our dealer on this with no luck and were advised to contact Subaru Canada, which we did. After almost three hours of talking to every department imaginable including those in Subaru USA the problem has not been solved. Yes we have verified the VIN is correct for both users, yes the email address is correct for both users - we get the email notification but the owner gets a notification in their app.

Have others experienced this?

Broken app, don’t pay for this

They broke the fuel tracking. Broken app for months now. They won’t fix it any time soon. Sucks if you’re paying for the service, just showing me that when the time comes to renew my subscription I won’t be renewing because it’s a broken app. It’s been over 6 months now and it doesn’t seem like they will actually fix it. Plus my maintenance doesn’t show up recorded in the app like they say. It’s only good for remote starting your vehicle while you have access to the program. Don’t waste your money past the free trial. Update, it’s been months and now the app is giving false diagnostics, saying the windshield fluid is empty but it’s full, and the car has been off and on multiple times. Garbage app

Please add settings for disabling Horn & AC!

I regularly use the auto start function during Canadian Winter.. GDI (direct injection) engines definitely build way less carbon/gunk on intake valves while driving at warm temps, so love the autostart function. Please add a feature for scheduling to start car at a specific time!

However.. most annoying effects of using this App is always turning the AC on regardless of climate settings and the Horn honking, pissing off my neighbours at 5am… PLEASE add an option to turn both these off!

Platinum Warranty

I understood that the My Subaru app was included with the $4,500 7 year extended warranty when I purchased the new vehicle. I am now being asked to pay $220 per year or nearly $1,000 for 4 years as I am coming up on the 3 year mark. Not at all happy about that.

This app is years behind the version Americans get, yet we pay significantly more for the service. Now they are completely ignoring the many problems the app currently has. Pathetic.

However: Modern Subaru boxer engines do not require idling warm-up before driving, according to Subaru’s own manuals. Subaru explicitly states that the best way to warm the engine is to start the car and drive gently, not sit idling.

You can drive normally as long as you avoid high RPM until the engine reaches normal temperature.

So the review’s claim that a boxer engine must be warmed up by idling before driving is not accurate.

My Honda starts off the key fob. But my Honda doesn’t have a boxer engine, so it doesn’t have to be pre-started and warmed up before I drive away in the morning. Meanwhile, my Subaru does have a boxer engine, and therefore must warm up before it begins its day. In other words, I cannot do without the ability to start my Subaru remotely unless I want to idly sit in my car for five or more minutes, waiting for the little blue light to go out. Subaru makes a vehicle that MUST be warmed up every day and then charges you CDN$200/yr for the privilege.

The update broke the fuel level reading on the app, it's says 0 km till empty and 0 litres per 100 km. The reading on the website is still working. So the service renewal is $179/year. When I purchased my Subaru the dealership said it would cost $79 a year, still expensive but manageable. Now the price is $100 more per year just so i can turn on my car. No thanks.

It won’t work when the car is cold which is useless in Canadian winters. I have to start the car. Run it for two mins. Turn off the car and then use the remote starter. Won’t lock the doors if the temp is below zero. Worst idea ever. Would much rather the old school key fob for remote starter.

There are so many terrible things about this app and comparing it to friends who have the ability to start their vehicles on their phones it’s laughable.

For example:

- only being able to start the vehicle twice for 10 minutes max with no override. At severe Canadian temperatures this makes no sense

- having to re-enter your unlock pin even bough your phone is unlocked

- it has “technical issues” very often.

- having to go through several extra steps to start the vehicle using a preset vs a “quick start”. Make quick start your preferred setting!!!

The app says “oops you do not have a vehicle registered. go to mysubaru.ca and register a vehicle.” However I DO have a vehicle registered under mysubaru.ca but the app does not recognize that, which makes it completely useless. Uninstalled.

The only thing I wish this app would allow me to do is run my vehicle for a max of 15 minutes rather than 10 and allow me to set the maximum temperature to 33 or 34 degrees Celsius. I live in northern Canada where winters get extremely cold at -50c or more 🥶.

Unworthy of a Great Brand

This app has proved to be nothing but a frustrating nonsense. I have owned three Subarus and I would not have done so if the cars were as useless as this piece of junk software. I have NEVER been able to gain consistent access. It constantly fails to recogise my passwords and goes into a death spiral. If this is the best the company can do - do nothing. This turkey just leaves a bad taste and burning resentment.

The has some useful features, however the remote start is bad. Might be OK in a warm climate, but in the cold Canada is not. I contacted the customer service, after almost one hour of chat I got a promise to be contacted in ten days. That was three months ago.

Love the option to start my car up and the range is amazing. I don’t like that I have to have heating or cooling on. It would be a good option to start the car without having to turn the temperatures on. It automatically puts the AC on as well and that’s something I’d like to have the option to turn on or off

I started using the app after I bought my outback 2020. So far so good it saves me a lot of time when starting the car, location finder, lock and unlock features etc. Especially here in Canada where winter is treacherous, I usually start the car from my apartment by the time I go down it already hot inside the car and windshields, side mirror are defrosted.

Please make the engine run time maximun 15 mins on your next update.. if there is any.

Features are super cool!! Start your vehicle, unlock, lock etc. However, the app is so slow!! Subaru, you need to improve this. I don’t have 2 minutes to start my car, this should take 10 seconds + password! Instead, I need to wait the app to open and to process all my commands... Once you will fix that, I’ll give a 6/5!! 😀👌🏼

Hey, Subaru, if your dealer isn’t all that into uploading service info ... and the app can’t pull relevant data from the car ... what’s the point? It’s been 2 months since we did the 10k service, we had warranty work done to replace the amplifier on the infotainment unit, and bought winter tires in the fall. And there is nothing in service history.
