The DOC app, an extension of Dr. David Hanscom’s popular The DOC Journey self-guided course, is a tool designed to guide users who experience chronic emotional and physical pain towards a pain-free, playful life that’s creative instead of reactive. Like The DOC Journey, the DOC app allows participants to direct their own care and offers simple, practical, and proven methods that empower them to break free off the grip of chronic pain.
Within this easily navigated app, users gain access to a stream of cutting-edge research in the field of neuroscience as well as a “toolbox” of enjoyable, research-validated lessons designed with this breakthrough scientific knowledge in mind. These resources focus on calming the nervous system, rewiring the brain to stop the pain cycle, and enabling the body to heal. Users are able to:

Dr. Hanscom is an orthopedic spine surgeon and the author of two books, Do You Really Need Spine Surgery? Take Control with a Surgeon’s Advice and Back in Control: A Surgeon’s Roadmap Out of Chronic Pain. He is also a regular contributor to Psychology Today Blog and Pain News Network as well the host of “Back in Control Radio” podcast.
