Frustratingly Outdated and Restrictive
We moved into a house with Control4 installed. We had to make updates and were ready to enjoy the automation. After 4 years of using it, I’ve found Control4 to be disappointingly outdated and honestly not worth the hassle. The technology feels old-school and tired compared to the modern smart home systems out there. We don’t use the entertainment component. We stopped using the thermostat component. One of the biggest frustrations is that you can’t really access or control things yourself—you’re forced to go through a service company for even simple changes. Plus, they’re now pushing a subscription fee just to maintain voice control with Alexa.
In a world full of newer, more user-friendly, and subscription-free smart home solutions, Control4 just doesn’t cut it. In fact, I’m thinking about ripping the system out. If I had the choice again, I’d never go with Control4. It’s just not worth the limitations and the added costs when there are so many better options available.

Still can’t get the alarm to signal me when it goes off. App is slow and not very user friendly x

Too many problems
Extremely slow despite having a 100 percent fine network. Remote access is frustratingly slow. Fans, lights and locks show on but actually are off and viceversa. The app stops working and refuses to sign in

Does not connect to home wifi
Since the last update it is not connecting to home wi-fi. Very unstable software and kills the entire experience of home automation.

Remote access very challenging
I agree with other reviewers. Remote access has been very hard to establish, very slow to connect and sometimes just not possible. My network at home is completely wired professionally by a certified control 4 dealer so I know my setup at home is working. I had the burglar alarm go on the other day and I couldn’t connect to my control4 setup to see my cameras or my alarm Sensors. It let me down when I needed it the most…Please can you fix this issue!

Apple Watch integration
These geniuses at Control 4 need some help. App doesn’t work. Apple Watch doesn’t do anything. More testing is needed on the app and the so called geniuses.

Control4 and Intercom issue
I like that they finally added intercom to this app. The issue is once this was done when ever my doorbell is pressed the call no longer works with video or audio. Hopefully another update can address the issue.

No Siri/ HomeKit Integration
So many missed opportunities here. This needs to work with Apple HomeKit. I used OS2 for years and it work with my Apple Watch. OS3 doesn’t have an Apple Watch app, another missed opportunity. I check back every 2-3 months to see if this company has made any advancements with Apple products…… every 2-3 months I f get tell disappointed.

Weak experience
There’s a lot of functionality wrapped up in lacklustre UX. The biggest problem is the lack of integration with Siri/HomeKit, and the lack of widgets. Why can’t I turn my lights on from the Home Screen?

Dated UI & No Apple Watch App?
The app functions, but the user experience is lacking. The design is entirely proprietary, which doesn’t seem necessary, when the UI controls offered by iOS should be sufficient.
And no Apple Watch app? How is this not a requirement for OS3?

Missed potential
While it’s an improvement over the previous version, we’re still missing Apple integration. To be able to use Siri or setup shortcuts with the Apple shortcut app feel like missing features.

The new version is great on iPhone and iPad. But until it has an Apple Watch companion app it is not the full package. If it had this it would be 5 stars.

Please make the slider for grouped Audi zones the same numerical value slider as individual rooms vs a guessing game! Thx!
