PocketMoney 2 real bad folks
Was very useful until the new version now it is confusing and there is NO manual. The Help is no help, it is a totally different program, and there’s zero orientation to the new features. I would pay(again) to have the old program back! As it is, I’ll have to search for another money management program.

PM once did a good job of crossplatform sync, which has been junked in latest version. New free version looks like it offers a lot but much of it is only for paid account.

Could be great
I have now been using the updated version since it came out (had no choice), and have come to understand most of it now. In my opinion, this has the potential of being a really good app. You really have to spend quite a bit of time playing with it and figuring out how it works, but once you do, you will find that it can do all that the original version did plus more, and in most cases will give you more information and quicker. Many new things makes this version much easier to use. The desktop version especially is very good. However, there is room for improvement and some issues that need to be addressed. I was initially one of many who didn’t like what they did, but am glad that I persisted with it, and now am happy with 90% of it.

Less than one star
My husband and I have been using this app for years. We have recommended it to many. The update has a the least ruined the organization and simplicity of this app and at worst , this update has literally stolen the version I paid for. I wonder that the Apple store does not take action. I also was aghast at the response one review got from the developer that was nothing less than blackmail : Give 5 stars and we will give you support! We will be looking for a new budgeting App.
You are losing some very loyal customers. No stars and lost all your word of mouth support.

The new update is horrendous
Used this app for years and LOVED it. The “update” is more of a complete - and useless - redesign. Hate everything about it. So many terrible design decisions. Apparently designers don’t use their own app. Searching for an alternative.

Horrible
In 2008 I downloaded the app Pocket Money, and have used it for the last 11 years... it WAS wonderful, organized, most of all, easy to use.
In December 2019, they updated it...they’ll tell you it was to make it better & add features. What it actually did was make it nearly impossible to use, changed the look of the app to something worse, and added advertisements.
The app is virtually unusable. Impossible to do what previously was easy. They make a great app crappy.
I can only hope they realize what they have done & go back to the previous version, but I know that will never happen. I will begin looking for a better money app immediately. Too bad all my historical data will now be useless.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP.

Dislike the Update
The new update sucks! It went from an easy app for tracking finances to a stupid app that has changed all my categories and how they work. Very hard to understand and they got rid of the “search for a transaction function”!!! Will probably stop using it as it is hurting my brain to try and figure out! 😡 Not sure what app I should switch to.

Need old version back
I agree with the other reviewers. After upgrading I could not open / import my file until today’s update.
Once I could finally open my file I found the interface to be very confusing just to enter a transaction.
I too paid for the previous versions and find that this should have been a separate app in the store.
Please bring back the old version as that worked well for my needs.

Total garbage!
Like other users, I too have have been using this for 7 years but am so frustrated now.... the old version was perfect for my needs while this one is confusing as hell. I will not be paying to use it. We should have been given the option to upgrade. They’ve wasted HOURS of my life as I now have to find another suitable app. So much historical data in that old app! I’m furious and feel robbed! Hate, HATE, H A T E this new version. And right before Christmas too, thanks for that!

Must look for another financial app
Very disappointed. Have been using this app since 2010.
The new version needs so much more work before being close to the level of the previous app. Unfortunately the originator of this great app has passed away... and now it is time to move on.
I have tried for several days to work with it. It is tedious. Always opens to Year 2011, not 2019. Cannot see full amounts. Balance is too small. Cannot widen or narrow columns to suit me. Settings very limited regarding posting of repeating payments or deposits. Not user friendly compared to the previous versions of this app. This should be sold under a new name and then allowed to die. Using the PocketMoney name will not extend its life forever. If you want my opinion, the previous version should be resurrected and do charge a fee if you need to keep it going. It is worth money. It was an excellent app. This new version is not worth much and its use will fade away. I shall switch to another financial application now; something more reliable.

Sadly I am done with this app.
Thankfully because of my personality, I use several other checkbook type apps (Moneywiz, Debit & Credit, Money , and Money Pro) that I've kept using because I couldn't decide on my other favourite. Unfortunatelyfor me, my pocket money history goes years prior to trying others so I'm losing some historical data.
I feel bad for anyone who used this exclusively. A major disappointment for me.
Another update 22 December:
There was an update yesterday that addressed data conversion. This appears to have addressed my problem. My data is back! The full updated version is very confusing to this long time user. Hopefully it will make sense in time. Moving up from 1 Star.
Update December 22:
In order to get support, you have to sign up. I did that and was told to verify my email via the email they sent me. I didn't get one so I resent it. This type of verification is very common and the verification email usually arrives in seconds. I didn't get one.
Not in this case, I'm still waiting.
Update 20 December 2019:
The app has been completely revamped and I wasn't liking it at all. Now I am furious! I just turned on iCloud sync on my Pad and phone and EVERY transaction in EVERY account has had a 2 added to it. Now all of my account balances and transactions are pooched!
I guess I'm done with this app now. So sad, it was my go-to app for years.

I've been using Pocket Money for years. I continue to try others but haven't found one yet that would make me stop. My only issue (and it's minor) is that it doesn't automatically sync to other devices via iCloud. It has effective backup options and sync options.
Overall, a very solid product.

The old version which I used for several years was great - simple and intuitive; plus I had purchased it. Now, I was automatically ‘upgraded’ to the new free version, without my asking for it. The new version is horrible, not to mention that the developer wants me to pay for a monthly subscription for this garbage, and has removed from my phone the previous version which had been purchased!!!

A great app just went down the toilet..
I’ve been using this app since 2010 and have loved it. It was intuitive to use, easy on the eyes and very functional. With version 2, it seems the programmers are trying to do too much and it’s now unusable IMHO.. Add to that the pop up ads, monthly subscription fees and what was once great is now trash. I would have given it zero stars if I could! Wishing I had NEVER updated. I wish I could go back to the previous app, but it’s not possible. Time to start looking elsewhere. Too bad; It WAS a great app. You should have left it alone!

The rating for this app literal dropped from a near perfect 5* to under 2* in 48hrs for release 2.0. I really think Dev need to bring back the old version (before the clear/pending filter bug) and make this version 2 a separate app. I’ve paid for version 1 twice actually (believe ownership changed) and I’d be willing to pay again $6.99 to get it back. I don’t understand how Apple allows this. Customers paid for an original app and should be able to keep it. This new version is completely different, subscription base with ads and free to download now. This makes no sense. As a developer/business please listen to your client user base and act! Expend your app options but have both old and new available. The interface and complete feel of 2.0 is totally different and can be stand alone.

Hi Dev, can I pls get the previous version? I paid for that app and don’t like the new one nor the ads. The interface on the old was suited well and was functional. All FX currencies loaded, icon for accounts, ability to add tickets directly from acct screen (+) feature. Point being, the old version was paid, $6.99 if I’m not mistaken. I would simply like to keep that old one. New version can stay but this who bought before should have the option to keep it. Thank you.

Unfair business practices
I have paid for this app twice. Once for the original purchase and secondly when I think someone else took it over. Now with this update there is advertising and I am now being asked to pay a third time on a subscription. Not fair, the silver level subscription doesn’t even remove all the ads. The new version is confusing and unusable. I’ll be looking for a new solution which is a shame as before the most recent update, it was great.

Very disappointed in 2.0
I was very happy with my old Pocketmoney, which I'd used for years. Solid app!
Had to upgrade last year due to ios incompatibility. New developers, but same basic, super useful app. Yes it was a pain to pay for the upgrade, but not a big pain.
The big pain came when I opened v2.0 yesterday: ugly interface, ads, expensive, ugh!

New look, corrupted data, no support unless you pay
I was honestly, going to give the new product a chance. After the shock and surprise to find out that the app had been installed to overwrite my existing app I was upset because it meant that I couldn’t synchronize my devices before leaving for work.
Instead, I let it go and spent the better part of today trying to figure out how to work the app and make it do what I wanted it to do, putting up with the random ads in the middle of my work.
When I got home, I figured that I’d try to synchronize my devices again using the new way of doing things and it completely trashed my data file on both systems, losing all my unsynchronized data and making the file unusable.
Looking at the model, you have pay for a gold level subscription if you are expecting any help with the product at all. And having dealt with their service desk before this, you won’t get what you are paying for.
This was released on the 25th anniversary of the original launch of the product and, for me, it’s the final nail in the coffin.
If you are a new user of the product, you might be happy with it. If you’ve used it for years, odds are good that you are going to be upset. I will be investigating other options at this point because, frankly, after being told that the bugs would be fixed for years and then get this shipped out, I’d have continued to live with the bugs.

Don't even download the so called "free version," unless you want trouble!
I have been using PocketMoney apps for over 10 years and the only reason I stayed was inability to find an app that would easily convert my PM file with data since 1986.
Every app change has caused serious functionality issues and headaches. In 2018, despite buying the premium version previously, I had to yet again buy a new premium version to retain previous functionality.
Today, they forced out an update that renders your database unreadable, and to fix it, you have to start over from new and subscribe to one of several instalment plans.
This company is clearly myopic and focused on profit. To force you into a subscription instead if giving you the option to keep you purchased app, albeit with limited support, and render your database unusable, is unprofessional, unethical, and dishonest.
Minus 5 stars.
You have been warned.

I purchased a gold membership and sent in a support request. Request denied because I did not have a Gold membership.

Formerly a Terrific personal finance app
I used PocketMoney for several years, but this latest update - long overdue - is awful. It wouldn’t load my data file, producing a massive and incomprehensible error message and then wouldn’t let me do anything. Much of the functionality in my previous paid version now is only available with subscriptions and the interface is impossible to figure out. If any of this had been explained, I could have decided not to upgrade. I’m done with this app. What a shame.

NOT Impressed At All with the New Version
No warning was given on the new version of the app. With it being a complete revision and new app, it should NOT have overwritten the old version. This is an accounting app and some of us use it daily to track expenses, sales tax, and pull reports, and export all accounts to a csv file to work in excel. The new version should be a completely separate app from the old version and allow the old version to still be functional. The new version does not allow for creation of reports and does not allow export of all accounts to a csv file. It’s totally useless to me now and I paid for this app (the older version). Plus there’s Ads everywhere. NOT Cool!!! Looks like I’ll have to move to Quicken or Quickbooks.

Do NOT buy this app if
I’ve been using this app very happily for 8 years, until recently. The old app does not work with the new IOS update and despite raising a ticket on their site and several messages on their FB wall, the company did nothing to help. Initially I lost years of data, which after days of work, I was able to recover but am very frustrated I was put in that situation and Pocket Money did zero to help. If you have the old app be very, very careful about updating your iOS.

NOT a better version of original PM
If you think that PM GT is a better version of original PM you are wrong. These are the reasons:
- Display of the Account/ Reports are cut horizontally in the middle (iPad Version - iOS 9.3.5). I made sure that PM GT Product information was compatible with my iOS.
- Display of the Dates in Budgets are not visible/ changeable. You are stuck with the current month budget. Similar when you are adding a transaction. Pending/ Cleared/All options are cut horizontally (iPad Version)
- iPad version does not have Server Option to Sync. It only can be used as a Client. I used to have in my iPad the server and in the iPhone the Client version. Hence, repeating transactions cannot be used in the iPad.
- When editing a transaction, editing icons are not in the same place. If you got used to add a transaction (+) which was at the far left in PM, In PM GT is now in the middle. Who would have thought? Also when you are in the transaction itself you have the icon on the far right instead of icon. There is a lack of consistency with the place of the icons. Most common icons should be place at the far left. This is very very annoying.
- option when Adding a transaction is not shown. Workaround, you will need to click on the eye (bottom right) and go back to make it visible.
- Date of the transaction is a scroll option instead of a calendar view.
I am back using original PM. What a waste of PocketMoney.

Happy to Have on iPhone X
I had delayed upgrading the old Pocket Money and was very concerned when I (obviously) couldn’t use it on iOS 11. I was readily able to migrate all my historical data to OM GT and am so happy to have it back as one of my key apps! I truly hope the developer continues to update - it is an incredibly useful tool.

I have been using this app for about 5 years now. I wouldn’t be without it. It’s very easy to use and really keeps me on track with my finances. Keep up the great work! It’s worth every dime to me!!
