January 2026 Update: I left the review below… 5+ years ago? Everything I wrote is still relevant. You’d think they’d fix FaceID by now, or maybe I’d have SOME points after numerous purchases at theatres, Needs, and Sobeys, but nope. Not one point, and support is useless so I gave up. I’ve probably reduced my spending at Sobeys by over 90% over the past several years because I know if I’m not getting points, I’m paying more than I have to.
After several eligible purchases, my Scene points balance remains at zero, despite my receipts stating that I qualified for the Scene Points. Also, despite enabling Face ID and checking “keep me signed in”, the app constantly signs me out and requires my email and password to sign in which is super inconvenient while in a checkout line.
BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER IF I SIGN IN BECAUSE IT STILL HASN’T GIVEN ME ANY OF THE POINTS THAT I’VE EARNED.
This app is the sole reason I have stopped shopping at Sobeys, and never will. I hope your development team is proud of themselves.

Came home and tried opening it connected directly to wifi…says I’m not connected to the internet. I hate your app. I have since deleted it and will not use it again. Glorified Website
I reviewed this once, and I'll say it again, the scene+ app is a glorified web app that barely functions. It doesn't have a sign in function on the app and needs to open a website every time, prompting 2FA despite it being from a device I have trust on the browser and the web pop-up each time. It scans my face each time I open the app but fails to log me in. Actually horrible functionality for an app and embarrassing for such a huge corporation.

Loading offers to the Scene card is about as straightforward as a crooked line. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes the offer is loaded but doesn’t compute I. The other end. When it works, great but don’t understand why I have to work so hard to get it to work.

Pain to use
Every time I open the app, I must log back in even if it is only ten minutes later. Furthermore can never actually see my offers to earn points, need to log into a separate website through the app to see grocery offers. Literally so annoying, sometimes takes ten minutes and something like fifteen different screens on my little phone just to get through to my offers. Also it is soincredibly hard to actually earn scene points because there’s no base point amount per dollar amount, it’s always random amounts of points if you buy specific grocery items you would never otherwise buy. Hard to use, hard to earn. Bad all around.

I measure reward programs based on simplicity through the phones app. I’ve been to Safeway 4 or 5 times now and it has only registered 10 points, only recognized 1 visit, and is impossible to create my “personalized offers”. When I try to create my offers it directs me away from the app to the website where my same log in credentials do not work! I literally have to sign in about 4-5 times every single time because the system is broken. I log in for uploading scene, I log in for confirming facial ID for the 1000th time, I log in again to check the offers, I log in again for the next screen to upload offers. I log in again in the next screen to view offers. Every single time I go grocery shop and use the app, I sign in about 5 different times going through the process every single time of Face ID, passwords, etc. every link brings you to another page you have to sign in. Good luck trying to get in touch with a person who is any help! Worst rewards experience I’ve had.

Signs out all the time
This lousy app signs out on its own very often. When you try to sign back in, it takes you to their site, asks for credentials and then sends you a code by text to proceed, then asks you to update your password, then asks your permission to use Face ID.
You do all these just so to repeat everything next time when using this app. Very convenient when you’re just trying to scan your code while paying at the cash, right?
The developer of this app must’ve been a 12 year old with knack for tasteless jokes.
Have they done their job looking around how other apps work meticulously well and maybe try to copy them??

Bonus Points for Freshco 4X Basket Bonus NOT ISSUED
I used to be very happy and content with the Scene+ program, but that has turned lately.
Scene+ had a 4X Basket Bonus offer at Freshco banner stores that ran from May08-Jun04/25. The objective of the offer was to have four (4) grocery shops of $50 or more within the program timeframe. The customer would earn 250 Scene+ points for every $50+ shop, and then a Bonus 1500 Scene+ points when the offer was over on Jun04/25.
I called soon after, and their ‘office’ stated that the Bonus points would be issued ‘four weeks after the program ends’. That date was July 02/25. It is now two weeks after that four week period, and still NO BONUS POINTS have been issued.
I’ve tried sending a message on the ‘Feedback’ form provided in their Scene+ app, but still haven’t received the points, or even a reply back from them.
My satisfaction with Scene+ has had a drastic decline.
Hope this issue is resolved soon, and they return to running their offers truthfully, and with integrity.
Be aware, and keep your 👀 open for the points you have rightfully earned.

Why can’t I change my password?
I’m furious. I’ve spent half an hour trying to log into this app since my SCENE card is worn out. I can’t remember my password, so I can’t log in. I try and reset my password but it needs my email and phone number. Fair enough, right? BUT the box that lets me write my phone number out doesn’t work. I can’t type into the box and then the app crashes and says that the operation cancelled. The exact same problem happened on the website. Please fix this. Keeps signing me out
Every time I go to a Sobeys and have an opportunity to use the app to scan my points, I find that it has signed me out even though I have Face ID enabled. Even my bank apps don’t do that. Usually when that happens I don’t have time to try and sign in or click on Forgot Password, etc so that means I’m missing out on points that I could have earned.

The app works fine, once you are logged in. But every single time the app gets updated, it kicks you out and you have to log back in. The Remember Me checkbox option doesn’t work. So you have to completely log back in, reenable FaceID, confirm with 2FA and the get in. This is stupid. And inconvenient when you are trying to use it at a cashier.

Worst Reward Program
After getting a card and supposedly linking it to my scene account I started using it at Safeway. After spending hundreds of dollars on groceries have showed up in my account. Reached out to the web site and they referred me to a 1-800 number. Called the number waited on hold only to be told to go back to website “we don’t handle that sort of thing here”

Keep your receipt
Better program than airmiles for Safeway / Sobeys etc. Points don’t always come through - even after scanning coupons at the till. Takes up to 48hrs for points to show on your account after a transaction, unlike PC points which are instant. Currently have receipts sent to customer service for review so I can get points that should have been earned (this has happened twice already previously). Bugs need to be worked out of the program which I’m sure will get better over time.

I placed an order worth over 360k points on October 22, 2022. I have screenshots of the app claiming 3-4 weeks available to ship. They took payment from my credit card on the same day for a few missing points and now, 5 weeks later, no one from customer service can tell me what’s going on. This is far from the type of customer service Apple or Amazon regularly provide. I’m surprised that with this kind of awful customer care Scotiabank continues a partnership with them.

It kicks me out even though I input correct card number, which btw is in my ‘Wallet’ where the number is very small print.
It won’t therefore allow me to open with FaceRecognition.

The “Plus” is a failure from what before was ScotiaRewards. The extension of Banking components is too much navigation and work. It’s focused more on earning rewards versus processing redemption of rewards.
I had to call for help the other day and was told due to call volume the wait time would be 3 hours 15 minutes.
I should be able to sign in without the entire card number each time/or by my Bank app sign in. I don’t know who the project manager is but there isn’t a conversion team on the phones to assist with transition for existing banking customers.

Remember me button doesn’t work
I have to manually input my membership number and password every time. At least fix the remember me button or better still allow the apple facial recognition for log in just like the banking apps.

Can’t add my card to my wallet
I have been trying on a regular basis to add my card to my wallet and keep getting a 404 error. Have reached out twice to customer service with no response

Cannot add to apple wallet

Good but having an issue
This is a great app and is made easy for the user, however there’s always an issue with trying to add my scene card to my wallet. Whenever I try to add it, it tells me there’s an error

Scene Points
I think Scene should stick with 1000 points for a movie, also Scene used to allow any movie for 1000 points, but now Scene want customers to redeem almost double points for 3D or any other I max movie, I wish that would haven’t changed, otherwise Scene is a great program.
