Every RBC is a nightmare!
Unsurprisingly, it doesn’t work. I genuinely don’t know why anyone would bank with RBC.
I got the British airways reward credit card 6 months ago. From the time of application I have been trying every route to access points. Accounts are supposed to be linked but are not. Tried to download app and transfer that way, and It just keeps telling me I need to log in again. I have spent hiurs and hours over the last 6 months in branch, on phone trying to just access the points.

For all the money the bank makes, and for it being the “biggest bank in Canada” this app is HUGELY DISAPPOINTING. I can’t even remember the last time the points for cost of travel were displayed. There is ALWAYS an error. For the INSANE money this bank makes, and the money they charge as an annual fee for the Infinite Avion, this is a disgusting level of “service”. It’s an embarrassment that this is their app for their leading travel rewards card. To the PO, Developers - please, for the sake of your clients, DO BETTER.

iPad version is just mobile app in a tiny window
The room selection doesn’t work no matter which hotel you choose it will loop you back the the very first link you clicked and choose next hotel takes you back to the previous page. The map view worked slightly better I can see two hotel before the app freeze with blank page display and unable to continue. Just don’t use the mobile app, it’s garbage. Use web page instead

Needs work to be a functional app
The app is very broken. Half the time it won’t load the amount of points needed for prices, but the biggest issue is the login loop you get stuck in along with getting randomly logged out of you try to look up flight travel dates.

If I could issue negative stars
This app is ridiculous. It asks for recertification and then does not reinitialize. Half the time it does no show the point costs rather just the ticket price. If you are tech savvy this is a challenge to use even the most basic of features but if you are not savvy unload the app and get a different points credit card.

I was redeeming my points for some gift cards and it always fail during checkout. Tried multiple times in different devices using the mobile app and in browser but same error.

Glitchy rewards program
I’ve been collecting points with my Avion card for about five years (got it back in med school) and the experience has been pretty disappointing. The app constantly glitches and only shows the full cash fare. So if a flight is $400, that is all you see. It does not show how many points you would use or what the remaining cash amount would be, which is the whole point of having a rewards card.
When you call in, they tell you to use the website because booking over the phone has a $20 to $30 fee. I am only calling because the app does not work properly.
Honestly, it has turned into more of a headache than a perk. I would caution medical students to skip this card and look elsewhere.

The app did not display/provide my credits for a cancelled flight which I proved with screenshots sent to Farah, I had to purchase another with my money because of the issue and yet no compensation.

Never lets you book
So frustrating. Every person I know with this app has the same issue. You log in and go to look at a flight (hotel, car, anything). Shows you are logged in and your points. When you put in your dates it never gives points pricing but tells you to log in for that. But you are logged in. So you hit the sign in button, it take you back to the main page to where it shows you are signed in, and repeat. And repeat. Again, happens to everyone I know. I have to use my desktop.

Defunct Program
Despite still receiving emails asking me to "re-link" my accounts, it's actually not possible to re-link anymore. Both re-linking on the app and the website leads to "technical error".
I asked RBC support on Twitter and they first told me to use the "contact" option in the app. There is no contact option. Then they suggesting calling some number. No thank you.
There is no support for this app. It was working fine up until about 2 months ago.
I'm assuming RBC is planning to discontinue it.
What is crazy is that CIBC's Paymi app has NEVER asked me to re-link my accounts, it just works.

Not impressed
Tried using this app several times. I have had so many issues with it. The one biggest issue is the “we are having technical issues at this time. Please try again later”. SURE!!! I want to do this all over again. Pretty typical of RBC. Your time doesn’t matter. For a large bank this is one of the poorest on line apps. And there are no nicknames apparently left. They just don’t want anyone to see the bad reviews. Interesting!!!!

Not worth the effort
I tried to book a flight using the concierge with my Avion points after saving up for 15 years. I ended up with the worst connections possible and the worst return ever four flights for what should be a two flight journey. The worst thing of all they charged my credit card and never used my points for a non refundable ticket.

You’d think Canada’s largest bank could afford to hire competent developers but apparently that wasn’t in the budget. Do better.

Horrible app
It feels like this app was developed with the intention of keeping you from using your points. It just loops endlessly back and forth from rbc to Avion asking you to sign in, only to immediately sign you out and prevent you from spending your points. At this point, it would be less work and frustration to switch banks than it would be to use this garbage app!

FIRE THE DEVELOPERS
This is my first ever review of an App but I had to take the time to convey how absolutely terrible this App is. Don’t waste your time with Avion because their promises of being able to book any flight you like is a lie. There are no flights available and when you do try and book a flight it costs you hundreds of dollars in tax and “fees”. When you ask what the fees are nobody can explain it to you. This App only works 20% of the time and the search-ability of flights is beyond frustrating. I will be cancelling my Avion card and getting something that I can actually use.

Not impressed
In order to access and use my points, I had to first download the mobile app, then went through what seemed to be several loops to create an account, log in with my RBC online account, loop back to sign in and back and forth, then a bulky front end of click throughs to finally find the option of paying back with my points. Holy crap! That was really not worth it. The old system via the online banking app worked well enough, and I didn’t have to log into two different apps to use it.

Spend rewards points? More like spend more money
This app used to be great before they rebranded. I used to be able to spend my rewards points on a bunch of different things that i wanted that i had EARNED by being a loyal RBC customer. But since they rebranded this avion company recommends LESS products for you to freely spend your points on and more options of things to just buy. What a terrible business remodel. I hope you figure it out before everyone figures out theres better options out there for us to be loyal to. What a shame.

Keeps getting worse
This app has gotten progressively worse. This latest “update” has broken key features such as spending the points.

App does not work
If you can log in (not always, or even often possible) once you click on any area where you want to redeem points, say “gift cards,” you’re greeted with a frozen screen with a TINY blue button that reads “resume.”
If you tap this, then your screen will dim and you’ll have a little rotating icon. From this point, it’s over.
I’ve had the app for months in various iterations. Not ONE TIME have I ever been able to redeem my points in the app.
Maybe instead of rebranding the name, you could have made the app functional???
This app is so bad it makes me wonder if I should move my money, investments, and mortgage to a better bank.
