Very soothing game, extremely well designed

A huge amount of thought and consideration was put into the game play. As another commenter mentioned, I enjoy spending time with my grandpas. I have also become a much better cribbage player over the course of the thousands of games I’ve played! (Find an online hand analysis recourse like C. Liam Brown and you will learn NEVER to break up a double run and almost always go for the flush)

Really Sweet

My Grandpa was an amazing cribbage player and we used to play together - he died last year and I was just talking to my Mom how I wish we could play with him again and then I discovered this app! It’s not the same, but it’s nice to still have my Grandpa in spirit playing with me :) so glad I discovered this app!

Crashes

Crashed every time on the first 3 games I played. I requested a refund. I am on latest iPad and iOS. Disappointing when mid game, especially when winning!

Probably my best App Store purchase ever!

I recently learned to play cribbage and this app is definitely helping me improve my skills. The art style is adorable and I love the comments that the grandpas make during and after the game! I also especially love that they don’t steal points from me, unlike the people I play cribbage with in real life ;)

Excellent but only on lower levels

This game is excellent, at first. Great avatars and setting (although I played with my grandma who was a champion cribbage player so grandmas are needed). I hadn’t played on a while and the “hadn’t played in a while” setting was perfect but I won all the time. I went up to the next level, but grandpa just gets much better cards. It’s not a very well designed game play for various skill levels. The grandpa just gets stupidly good cards and you can’t really win. A real let down. But relaxing on lower settings.

Nice but unbalanced

Nicely themed. At higher difficulty levels the grandpa gets dealt better cards so often that you just can’t win many games. Doesn’t feel like luck of the draw when they get double-digit points turn after turn. Ruined the fun for me.

Personal touch makes for a wonderful game

Most people who play will recall fond memories of playing with their own parents and/or grandparents — but if not, I still think it adds a welcome personal touch to the game. Playing against AI can begin to feel very stale and programmed after a few games, so this app is well worth the money for the added dynamic it offers.

Not one to leave a review...

But I have to give props to the devs. This game is excellent and I have shared it with family and friends. I spent countless hours as a child playing crib with my grandpa. He isn’t around anymore, but this app honestly makes me fondly reminisce about our time shared. Grandpa Pete could never be replaced, but Grandpa Pierre is doing an excellent job in his place.

Amazing from start to finish

Love everything about this game from the “build your grandpa” feature to the background options! Well thought out and a pleasure to play, I find myself getting a bit emotional as the grandma I have made looks almost identical to mine, who I miss dearly! Everyone who loves crib needs this game!

I LOVE this game!!

I LOVE this game! It’s like no other cribbage game out there. I like how you can customize your grandpa so this game is perfect for beginners and really advanced players. A cool thing though would be adding grandmas too. Otherwise this game is the best

Fun and touching

It’s fun to play and the grandfather angle is really sweet, it makes me wish I could have played with my own grandpas.

I didn’t even know how to play when I started, and it teaches you the game and helps you to keep score properly, in a helpful way. I love it!

Game lies to you

Game tells you the cards are based on mistakes Grandpa makes, less as you go up, and cards are always dealt randomly. If you play level 5 you'll see they're clearly not random. Always with multiple runs/multitudes of 15s, etc. I don't like being lied to, and it couldn't be more obvious :(

Best cribbage app

Very happy with this game. The only things I’d change are 1. don’t keep asking to teach me the game after I’ve clicked that I know how to play and 2. we need Grandmas.

Grandpa has all the luck

As someone else as already said: the higher up in difficulty you play the more ouch Grandpa has and the less luck you have. I hate only giving 3 stars but in order for me to give more, that would need to be fixed. It is very frustrating when the Grandpa gets a steady stream of good runs and you get not a whole lot.

It’s ok

Good game and very fun at first. I don’t want to say ‘rigged’ because that’s too strong, but as you get up into the higher difficulties, it seems that grandpa has good luck while you have bad luck more and more often. Like if you have two possible straights before you put into the crib, the cut will always favour the one you discarded, thus screwing you. Also, multiplayer would extend the life of the game for sure.

This app is such an amazing idea! It’s fun, clever, and charming executed to near perfection. If I had a gripe it would be that the game does not always seem to save when games end so often times you play the same game twice or pick up in the middle of something.

Surprisingly emotional

I've spent hundreds of hours playing cribbage with my grandparents and this is almost as good as the real thing (but not quite, don't worry!). Also, my great grandfather passed away last year and it's been nice playing cribbage "with" him again. Thank you for making this game.

Delightful

This game is great, it is highly addictive not just because of cribbage itself but because the art and visuals are so enjoyable to engage with. The phrases the grandpa utters always bring a smile to my face, and the holiday updates (Halloween, Christmas, etc.) have been perfect. Love this game! 😍👍👌

Terrific Game!

It's not often I feel the need to explain at length to my colleagues and friends what a great app I have found! In fact, I may have never done so before. I was looking for a cribbage game, because I always carry a portable board, but thought it would be cool on a phone. It was! I was able to make my great grandfather, my grandfather, and my great uncle, who are no longer with us, as well as my father (88) and my neighbour across the hall (79) and play friendly calm cribbage with them. It ws amazing. Obviously it is not really playing cribbage wiht them, but it is a tiny little bit like it. And the cribbage itself is great too! Thanks for a cool app!

Absolutely charming!

Awwww...this is about the sweetest thing I have seen in a long time. The Grandpas are adorable and the little touches like the choice of music or grandpas 'treat' on the table are charming. Kudos!

Great game spoiled by bugs

I love this game but there's a bug in the pegging phase where the grandpa will always be awarded points for last card while the player only receives them when they still have cards remaining in their hands.

I've contacted the developer and have heard no response and see no update so unfortunately it's a 1 star rating until it's fixed. The most important part of the game is getting the scoring right so unfortunately it's useless as a crib game until it's corrected.

Memories

My dad and I used to play cribbage together all the time when I was younger: it was like a rite of passage in our family. He was absurdly good and absurdly lucky, which made it all the more satistfying the rare times I could actually win a game. He died of cancer just over a decade ago, but I still like to play crib every now and then, to honour his memory.

When my fiancee told me this game had customizable grandpas who made jokes, cutesy crib rhymes, and so forth, I knew what I had to do. I downloaded the game, created a surprisingly good facsimile of my dad, and went to it. I left the conversation and difficulty at their defaults (though I've since increased both to max), and was delighted by the odd exchange we had. He even had Dad's accursed good luck with cards, however he managed that. At the end of the game, when he said "fifteen two, and that'll do," I took a screenshot and shared it with my mom. We spent about half an hour in teary-eyed reminiscence, and I began to ache for a real game of cribbage with my dad.

While I can never have that again in this lifetime, this game is the closest I've come to experiencing that feeling in almost eleven years. This is easily the best $4 CAD I've ever spent in the App Store, and I heartily recommend it for anyone who enjoys cribbage and misses playing it with any of the grandpas in their life.

My Granddad died six years ago. He loved card games, and he especially loved beating his grandkids at them. It's nice to play "with" him again.

The only thing that stops this from being 5⭐️ is the hope that customization will get even better. I love the avi customization but I'd like to be able to customize the "speech"/personality before (ie, an option to choose what nationality your grandpa is, or what language he speaks).
