Description

The New Yorker app is the best way to stay on top of news and culture every day, and the magazine each week.
Features:
• Get a daily blend of in-depth reporting, political commentary, cultural criticism, and humor, as seen in the magazine and online-only features from the Web site.
• Read each week’s magazine, cover to cover, and browse past issues.
• Receive alerts on breaking-news coverage by your favorite New Yorker writers.
• Listen to narrated New Yorker stories and podcasts.
• Read articles off-line and save stories to finish later, on any device.
• Flip through a nearly endless supply of New Yorker humor in the Cartoons tab.
• Play The New Yorker Crossword, and save your progress as you solve.
• Access The New Yorker Sticker Pack. Download the app, add the extension to iMessage, and liven up your texts with Christoph Niemann’s signature drawings and animations of city life.
The app is free to download. Subscribers receive unlimited access. Non-subscribers may access a limited number of articles each month. Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. Users who have trouble accessing unlimited stories or who wish to upgrade their access level may call Customer Service at 1-800-967-2082. All users have unlimited access to the Cartoon Randomizer, which does not count toward the article limit for non-subscribers. All users have unlimited access to the Sticker Pack, which is free to download and requires iOS 11 or above. A subscription costs $8.99 a month or $89.99 annually, and includes a 30-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Subscriptions may be managed by the user, and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user’s account settings after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Payment will be charged to iTunes account at confirmation of purchase.
The New Yorker app requires iOS 11 or above.

Have been locked out of my subscription for weeks

Version 5.1.0
I love the New Yorker and have been a reader for decades. I subscribed to the New Yorker today app about eight months ago, and had no issues until a few weeks ago, when my subscription access through the the app was cut-off. I’ve been back and forth with both Apple support and New Yorker Today support and they both keep directing me to each other. At this point all I want is my money back so I can use it for an Atlantic subscription...

Why am I paying for ads?

The latest update has introduced some glitches. Whenever I try to bookmark or share an article, the app closes. Very annoying! It really hurts the apps otherwise fine reputation.

Fantastic app.

Version 4.2.0
The New Yorker has great content. But...this is not a good app or experience for reading it.
Whatever you do, don’t leave an article while reading it on your phone. If you navigate away from the app at all — briefly turn off your phone, go to answer a message, anything — when you come back to the article it will go back to the beginning, not pick up where you left off. In some cases, it doesn’t even come back to the article itself — it takes you back to the feed. How long have they had to work on this app, and they haven’t managed even the basic task of allowing you to pick up where you left off when you navigate back to the app? Clearly no focus on user experience.

Subscriber who is frustrated!

Long time all access subscriber, over the past year this App has been an ongoing source of frustration! My user name and password is not recognized on my iPad no matter what steps are taken. Long frustrating calls with New Yorker tech support reach no resolution. Then, mysteriously, it seems to work again. And then, just as mysteriously, again I have login problems. This could be a good product if they just put the developer “A team” on the project!

New Yorker is brilliant. The app is good and I like the daily comments and the access to a massive comic archive. However there seems to be no way to pinch in or out to see the text more closely. At times these tired eyes need help especially on a screen

Unfortunately for our zero star liberal “Canadian” who could not actually have ever read this magazine, the New Yorker is a thoughtful publication. The serious pieces are well researched. I’m not interested in the fiction so I offer no comment there. Some of the lighter wit can be screamingly funny.

Best magazine ever.

Since Harold Ross, Wm Shawn, James Thurber, Katherine White, it
has always been a great magazine. And it always will be. The best writers always want to be in The New Yorker.

It works great, I like that it always brings me back to where I left off. The UI is clean and works without any issues.
I just wish we were able to comment on certain articles, I’d love to be able to read what other people think of certain articles and participate in discussions.
Also, it would be REALLY cool if they added reading time for each article, so that I can plan my reading depending on how much time I have.

Love it!

This is from a Real liberal moderate from Canada. The person who gave this app and the magazine content one star and says he hates he magazine and says he’s Canadian is not likely to be Canadian, rather just another blind Trumpster hiding behind my flag for legitimacy.
Good Luck America, this magazine is a shining beacon amongst an otherwise bleak dystopian nightmare that is Trumps America.

I’m from Canada too, and gave it 5.5 stars...!!

Version 3.2.6
The New Yorker is one of the very few regularly published magazines which features long, well thought and written articles concerning a plethora of issues. The Walrus magazine published in Toronto is a variation on this theme.
As a devoted conservative, I say to my country-person, informed opinions develop from looking at all sides of an issue, if one reads only what they like, then all that achieves is to reinforce existing views. It is not too much of a stretch to say that precisely is what has led us to the very polarized state we in North America and Europe are in.

No real family sharing

Version 3.2.6
While the magazine is fabulous, unparalleled, this app indicated family sharing. So yes, our family can share the app—meaning we can all download it. Great! My wife happily downloaded the app for free on her iPad. Then we found out we need two subscriptions, one for each of us. Right, says Apple support, only the app is free. Huh? A completely useless app without being able to share the subscription. If my son wants to read it on his phone, we’ll need three subscriptions apparently, which I have to say really makes sense. Very misleading! This is family sharing? Advertise properly please.

Love the changes!

Version 1.2.4
I much prefer this way of perusing the New Yorker!
However, I wish there was a "search" option to find & read articles that are unlisted. Please consider a "Genre" option for listing articles as well, which would have subheadings like Politics, Science, Art & Culture, Fiction, Daily Shouts etc. For me, that would make the app even more useful & enjoyable. Yesterday there was a new story listed and today it's already gone from the app, and I unfortunately forgot to bookmark it! Also maybe have notifications for when new articles are listed? And maybe a place to contact the app developers for suggestions or messages like these?
Most of all, I LOVE the bookmark function! That's why I truly love this app! With a "search" option, I'd give it 5 stars!
