Stick to chrome

None of the features it promises are worth because this is a wildly terrible browser. No private browsing, no history clearing. I had that when my parents got dial up. Also constantly freezes. I have a feeling an update won’t save this browser from its poor performance or baffling lack of basic features that have literally existed for 25 years. Ads > this browser. Stop paying influencers to hawk this manure and use the money to make what is a potentially great but ultimately disappointing performance.

Deleted 100s of downloads without a prompt or asking me first

Deleted 100s of downloads i made—mostly hard to find Ebooks, presumably because that as the default behaviour. I went into settings and saw clearing of multiple things, including downloads, was in the on mode of the on-off switch which says clear downloads. I’ve never seen a web browser yet which has a turned on switch to clear a number of things including downloads.

I was in the process of making Brave my default browser, pushing out iCabMobile which is a pay app, which I have using since my first Apple device but after 100s of downloads were cleared without even asking me first is completely unforgivable and unacceptable in my estimation and that’s why I gave it 1 star. I would have given it a 0 or some negative number like -5 if that was possible. Until that point I thought it was a great browser and would have made it my new default browser if this did not happen. ICabMobile NEVER deleted my downloads no matter how much space they took up or how old they were just sitting there. My iPad Pro has a gig of user available ram and I never really get to a point where I must delete stuff, but if and when I delete things it should be up to me and not some app to delete anything.

I highly encourage the developer(s) of this app to turn off those clearing switches and let the USER decide how they should work but FOR SURE don’t delete downloads without at least prompting the user first.

FOR SURE don’t have clear private data,, including all user logins and downloads turned on by default. Most users are capable of going in to SETTINGS and choosing the options they want to clear and setup a schedule of WHEN and HOW OFTEN they want to clear their items which are here configured as Private Data.

Bookmarks needed a search bar for easier navigation and ad problems.

Hi,

The problem with bookmarks is that they're hard to navigate and difficult to manage where'd they are located and booked at. Becomes of the theirs now descriptions nor previews functions nor any descriptions. It becomes a real hassle to find that one twitter link or youtube video links. In a long pile of these bookmarked labels without distinguishable icons.

Optionally, bookmarks appear on the search result label with a bookmark icon and easier navigation with bookmark related (or even unrelated) sites that can appear on the bottom of the search result (suggestions or not) that can be toggled on or off in the settings.

Also, Ad-block is a bit outdated. The option for a additional ad-block filter option or any other uBlock origin related settings would be appreciated. Because some of the annoying Ad's still appear on the site, even when DNS is turned one.

No ads or you can set it to safe ads which is awesome

I feel safer on the internet as it’s telling me how many trackers were stopped and I hope there’s no lie into that

Brave also syncs to my desktop so that’s cool

Like one of the ads for brave said it grabs your bookmarks from google and transfers it to your new browser

I feel better when I use unsecured websites like gogoanime because it will open random scam sites so when I know it’s opened in brave I feel much much safer

Unable to connect my wallet

Can’t connect my uphold wallet to collect BAT and it seems I can’t sync my laptop with my phone neither, so far the bat I got (vouchers) are unusable. Other than that it’s a decent browser

I like the browser, but can't get snyc to work.

Instructions are simple but no go.

Flawed but commendable

Brave Rewards allows users to block conventional ads and instead show ads that you almost certainly have no interest in. They will pay you to look at these ads, if you can figure the payment system out. This setup is so clunky that conventional online advertising seems elegant in comparison.

On the other hand, the browser is solid with some refinements, the most notable being very consumer friendly ad blocking.

Allow users to categorize and otherwise reorder bookmarks (e.g. based on individual choice: alphabetically, colour scheme, etc. Give bookmarks the ability to organize using main bookmark title e.g. Tech, and sub titles, e.g. Computers, Digital Photography, Trends, etc.)

It kept saying “The URL is blocked by a content blocker”, I skimmed through every setting to get through but nothing worked, I disabled the brave shields (in a weird order) and somehow I made it through, but it was only once, not a problem on safari though. Not sure what to do but it’s so unusable

Multiple ads have started to pop up

Multiple adds across multiple sites have begun to pop up.

Only way to block now is to block scripts.

This causes blocked content such as YT link and videos on news websites.

They are allowing adds through. You basically need another add blocker just to use it without adds. There is no reason to use this.

Needs better gesture support

Navigation at the top is not practical in 2020 with how large phones are. Reaching all the way to the top or using reachability is a pain. Some examples:

- Refresh button is only at the top. No pull to refresh. No refresh in the '...' menu. You must reach for the top.

- No swipe to dismiss History, Bookmarks or Downloads. Your only escape is to reach for the top and tap the Done button.

This would be the perfect browser if not for these oversights.

Update: so these guys haven’t improved one bit, and more things consistently don’t work. YouTube or any webpage with YT videos will only give you a spinning wheel of doom perpetually.

It also always super sllllloooooowwww to load STILL from the search bar!!

I despise their bookmarks setup being so disorganized and random and has too many steps in the process to get some bare semblance of order.

I also loathe the fact that if I have tabs open and leave the app without closing it, and come back, even right away, it has gotten rid of them all.

It’s really only good to look up recipes now...unless there’s YT or other videos, and then good luck.

It’s still a wonderful idea in theory, but falls flat in most areas.

I would love to give it 5 stars, but it is so ssslllooowww or many websites just don’t work on Brave. YouTube and Vimeo used to work, which was awesome and now they don’t!

It is excellent for viewing all the things you would typically view that are stupidly ad heavy and annoying as all ****, such as bakers’ recipe sites, blogs you follow, etc!! That makes the internet worlds better, otherwise when ad bars just keep popping up over and over, I often tend to boycott those sites.

Mostly Brave is wonderful for their whole safer, better internet browsing concept! Keep improving because it’s not entirely usuable yet, but can’t wait until you are!
