Hans Zimmer has proved himself "Time" and time again with incredible works on many major films. His work on "Pirates..." and "Angels and Demons" was simply beautiful. Even if you thought the third movie was crap (which it wasn't), there's no doubt Hans Zimmer upped the ante with that amazing score. (Check out songs like "One Day", and "Drink Up Me Hearties" from "Pirates", and "503", "160 BPM", and "God Particle" from "Angels and Demons" to see what I'm talking about.
Now Inception. The score for Inception seemed to have a lot of bloggers, and forum writers confused as at first the score seems to revolve almost solely around the massive brass section Hans used for this score. However, closer inspection of the songs will reveal a very intricate score leading to the heavy, pounding, explosive brass which finishes many songs on this album. (A good example of exactly this is "528491")
While some may find some songs "repetative", you'll certanily notice the uniqueness between each song when you properly listen to it. "Mombasa" is the song from the chase scene in this movie. It's not the best "chase scene music" but it is original and worth the money.
"528491" Is the music from the "reconciliation" scene between Fischer and his dying father, and is the #2 song from this album.
But the undeniable, unquestionable, not-up-for-debate, best song on this entire score and certainly one of the best songs Hans Zimmer has ever composed. It's slow build up from simple, beautiful piano, then slowly adding the strings, until the whole orchestra (electric guitar included) is crashing around in some of the most beautiful and "epic" sound waves you have ever heard. This song is from the scene where Cobb finally wakes up on the plane all the way unitl the scene where we - almost - see the spinning top fall. It is something to hear.
I strongly suggests buying this album ("Time" is a must, if nothing else) and enjoy each bit about it, from the crashing "BUUUUUUUURRRRRRR!!!!!!", to the last keys of Hans Zimmer personally playing the piano.
