I was a competitive Irish dancer for 13 years, and now I study Egyptian Oriental and Bollywood.
So when I discovered Delhi 2 Dublin, I felt like I had found the musical equivalent of me.
Two of my favourite genres brought together with amazing musicianship? Miracles do exist.
And the best part for me is that they're Canadian. :)

Hey you came to my school

These guys came to my school today, and after having the most fun Monday afternoon of my life, I had to get their CD. These guys are an amazing blend of my favourite music styles and they pull it off spectacularly. If you're looking for something new, GET THIS ALBUM.

This is a superb collection of 'bridge' music, which combines East Indian style with Irish melodies very beautifully. The 'Dil Nachde', which is presented in two different takes, is especially good. The musicians are all in top form. Needless to say, I look forward to the next release from Delhi 2 Dublin.

Fusion feast...

Like great fusion cuisine, delhi 2 dublin's first offering is a delectable blend of complementary cultural flavours. With a healthy underpinning of Asian Underground (dhol, tabla, sitar and electronic beats), delhi 2 dublin (d2d) have infused their eclectic music with phenomenal Celtic fiddle, together with fluorishes of Jamaican dancehall, middle eastern vocals, Malian blues, and Juju music. It is easy to imagine how such a project could have gone horribly wrong (imagine "Lord of the Dance" meets Bollywood), but instead d2d have really cooked up an awesome, wonderfully diverse set. Imgaine if Talvin Singh or Karsh Kale got together with Kevin Burke (Celtic fiddler extraordinaire), Amadou & Miriam, and Junior Gong and mashed it up. Simply excellent. As masic chefs of fusion music, it is hard not to be eager for the next feast d2d will prepare. In the meantime, this first course certainly provides more than enough for anyone with a palate craving diversity and originality.
