So dark but so good

This album picks up where the first left off. Instead of striking forward into a path of redemption, one finds that romantic tragedy has happened between the albums, and Rice opens a wound inside all our hearts, and pours in understanding, and shameless professions of turmoil, guilt and love.
A wonderful album in all respects, but often too dark for every day listening. Which Rice cannot be faulted for, as it justifies its own morose nature with bare honesty and beautiful music and verse.

Perfect

I can listen to 9 and O again and again. Year after year. These albums are one of my all time favourites.

Wonderful

9 crimes still gives me chills when i listen to it. There is so much passion in Damien Rice's and Lisa Hannigan's voices. Wonderful album.

I loved it

This CD was my first exposure to Damien Rice and I just love this album. 9 Crimes hooked me right away. Rootless Tree, Coconut Skins, Accidental Babies and Me, My Yoke and I are highlights for me as well. The last of my favourites is simply phenomenal performed live. I actually have to say I like it better than the O CD, this CD is more raw and edgy and show's Rice rockier side. Can't wait for the next album.

Listent to it a few times...

Like many others, I loved "O," and had great hopes for this CD. After a single listen, I set it aside for a while deciding that it was just "OK." I came back to it after a while and have really come to appreciate it greatly. Like "O" it has a few songs that are great but a bit difficult/painful to listen to in parts (e.g. "Elephant" and "Rootless Tree"). As with "O," the main theme seems to be Rice's tortured love life--his angst comes through loud and clear, somehow without becoming maudlin. Worth the price.

j'aime beaucoup

mais alors qu'est ce que c'est que cet espèce de musique inaudible qu'il y a sur la pièce : Sleep Don't Weep : un espèce de sifflement inaudible expérimentale qui dure 15 min.

Masterpeice

A different sound and more complex then his first album, at first listen it may be dissapointing....But you cannot deny the talented song writing and the beautiful array of instruments used to produce this timeless classic
