I will still keep downloading his music and hope he’s getting the residuals…. Canadian or American.

For an introduction to Neil Young, Greatest Hits is it. I was born in the 60s, so I remember Neil Young from way back on scratchy AM radio and vinyl LPs. His artistry goes so much deeper than this collection, but if you need to start somewhere, start here.

Mes chansons préférées : Cinnamon Girl, Heart of Gold et Rockin in the Free World.

Come on home Neil

it's not possible to go wrong with Neil Young's greatest hits. I don't like the title though. His greatest hits can be whichever song means something to you, but this is a stellar collection of a fragment of his work.

very moving

One of my all time faves. These songs never go out of style, and move you the same as they did years ago. Why is it we relate to Neil, and sing along so easily? I love the guy. He's a Classic Canadian, (and so is this album).

Brilliant

Fantastic. This guy never fails to enthrall. Not a note, not a word unneeded or misplaced. Every single song is the musical equivalent of The Old Man and the Sea... a masterpiece. There really is nothing more to say. Neil Young is a genius... AND he's Canadian! Yay!

If you listen to the tracks on this album in 2008 you will quickly realize that Neil has influenced so many artists over the past forty years - from Springsteen to Bowie to Pearl Jam. He is IMHO the singular greatest Canadian artist of the past 4 decades. I suppose that the litmus test for great music is that is enjoyed a generation later; Neil is still relevant 2 generations later.

Best album by Neil

It's almost unbelievable that one man could have written this many classic songs. This collection finds Neil Young mining his country rock vein. That makes it even more amazing that there are many other incarnations of Young each with its own run of great songs. I am rediscovering Young again and this album is a fantastic place to start by looking deep into his gritty soul. His emotion driven singing and guitar work explain his "Godfather of Punk" moniker. His biting, exact lyrics rip open the joys and agonies of the human heart. Listen to the sweetness of Harvest Moon, the bltzkreig guitar play in Rockin' In The Free World, the power driven Cinnamon Girl. Neil Young is a unique musician. This album reflects the deep fire of his smoldering talent.
