Grinding, shredding funk metal—plus a ballad or two—from the alt-rock institution

A sequel to 1992’s What Hits!? compilation, Greatest Hits rounds up the bulk of the Peppers' singles between 1989 and 2003. Funk metal doesn’t get any more awesome than “Give It Away” and “Suck My Kiss,” both of which gyrate with lascivious energy, while the acoustic "Road Trippin'" shows the band’s sensitive side. The set also features previously unreleased cuts, such as "Save the Population," which boasts hypnotic fretwork from John Frusciante and evinces the band’s bottomless well of A-plus material.
